I have been looking for this video forever...I watched Marty Schwartz play it with you and I've known the lyrics ever since. 'Ive been playing guitar on and off for 5 years looking for my style and sound and I have developed a passion for finger-picking. This piece is truly an inspiration, thank you for giving out the secrets. I cant wait to make this the first song I can sing and play guitar on. Cheers!

@@natedonnismusic I've had to take a step back with the picking pattern and focus on the chords but progress is being made. Thanks again!

Thanks for this vid! I was looking for the chords and doing a pretty crappy job faking it. This helped out a whole lot. Awesome tune man, haunting, beautiful and inspiring.

Great video and song! I still can't seem to figure out your picking during the A minor before you start from the beginning again at C in the intro part of your song. I've seen other covers on your song and none of them have it right lol

seems like for the last Am of the bar, you play Asus2 (A with the B string open) and hammer on 0-1 on B in place of the bass note, and for the turnaround Adim as well, you hammer on that 1 on the B string in place of the bass note in the 2 bar. Am I accurate in that observation? In the past I've played this song as a reggae tune to avoid this strum pattern, and now that I'm learning it, I feel like I can fully enjoy the poetry of the rhythmic interplay. Thank you for this tutorial.

@@trauerfeierlied760 u play AM two times. First time normal pattern, but B string open. Second time at the beginning u hit the A string and open B string together, hammer on B string first fret and continue with the normal pattern.
