Because the water pump failed and the engine overheated. Water pumps failing after 7 years isn’t exactly uncommon and overheating is due down to the owner not stopping and getting it towed.
I needed a new rad fan and new rad fan wiring loom, also had a misfire on cylinder 5 that was down to a faulty coil, only able to find out the cylinder with bm main dealer software
Hello G-tech! Just out of curiosity what happened to this motor? Did the previous owner have a new engine fitted and is it currently on the road? Would love to know!
Can you give me some advice, I'm getting vibration at idle in my m135i. Can feel through the gearbox, which the car is a manual. No fault codes stored at all. I would appreciate any help, to far me to come to Derby unfortunately. My car as been to 3 different garages, none of them can fix it 😒
@@isa270991 Thanks for the reply, the vibration happens when the engine goes down to 600 rpm, at 700 rpm the vibtration is better but I can still feel slight shakes.
@@shaneevans774 my e60 does this. When I’m racing around and then pull up. Vibrates at idle I’m not 100% certain what it is but I just thought it was the exhaust system
great video need way more recognition
7 year old car with a cracked engine block? Reliability at its finest.

i think the n55 is a good engine. much more reliable then the n54. the fails (waterpump, OFHG ...) are not very expensive.
N54 still winner 🏆
Top man for sharing this thank you
Really an awesome video waiting for next one .
Thank you for watching
What a great video life saver
How much was the fix?
Use the right oil 5 /30 is perfect for it in uk
Late reply, but do you guys know what caused this issue? Was it serviced and maintained properly? Did the owner track the car?
Yes a failed water pump caused the engine to overheat then the block cracked

Is this a common faults video or a video about this specific car, sure looks like the latter.
We have seen these faults on several cars of the same model, being a specialist garage. This is why we highlighted these faults that COULD occur.
Nice R32 that at start
The drivers.....
So basically avoid this car? 😕
No not at all, this video is just advising of the common faults that COULD occur on a N55 135i.
@@itsimty is the m140i better?
Been looking at these cars
Thanks x
Yes hands down the m140i is fitted with the newer B58 engine, I would go for that, very easy to Tune aswell
No1 problem with these are B58's...
So it’s basically a shit car? Breaks all the time?
No they don't break all the time. ALL cars have common faults. Look after it and it will be fine.
Absolute guarantee to fail , oil starvation spun bearings hey presto kiss good bye 👋
Hi Have 435i N55 dealer serviced from new 94k miles no issues 🫰
It a bmw. I don’t even want to know how much that costs
It must have cost an arm and a leg.
