To everyone saying just break a window, now you have an uncontrolled flow path just feeding tons of oxygen to a hungry fire. We do things a certain way for a reason kiddos 🐸
Yes that is so true when all you have to do is break a simple window and unlock it when you go through messing up the door where it cannot close back have to waste almost $100 to get it fixed plus labor when all you got to do is waste $20 on glass no labor
This is appropriate for accessing the door breaking a window on the door would leave an uncontrolled air flow issue and be potentially a very dangerous situation for interior fire operations
Where are the observational skills? One calculated swing of the axe, smashes the top glass followed by each window slat, and glass panel. Inside in 10 seconds. They are going to need to replace the door AND frame their way.
The reason you dont break the glass in a fire is that it gives the fire access to uncontrolled oxygen, where as its heavily limited if you can close the door back up
Not the case all the time. Some of us are on small rural departments and there might only be one or two of us showing up in the first 5 - its happened before.
And introduce horizontal ventilation before water is on the fire, creating a flow path that could supercharge a potentially docile situation… the only thing you shouldn’t be impressed by is your lack of knowledge in fire behavior.
@@JaySmith-or3us yes you would, the structure would already be ventilated if you are making entry. Also, breaking the window and forcing the door would introduce the same amount of oxygen to the fire. I’ve had plenty of backdraft training sir.

Breaking the window introduces an uncontrollable flow path of oxygen into the structure, making the fire worse and spreading it faster. Forcing the door allows you to close it back, limiting the amount of air available to the fire

And the door opening does not do that with the latch busted ?
@@retiredlogmanno because its a muvh smaller flow that is extremely minimal and much more controllable than the window

Solid work. Still a good example on an outward swinging door...
.... good example of how they do it but.... kinda useless on that kind of door since it would be way faster to break the glass and unlock it

You have no idea how much it cost to fix a door.

I'm happy there are fire experts on this video or else I'd of failed to break the window too.
Dude thanks for destroying my door wrong house the fire is next door😆😅😆😆😆
Burgerlers take note!
But overall AWESOME 😎
this is why your door doesn't close/lock
Nor did I see him stopping the door or being next to the door just in case of heat flying out
How to break in and rob someone’s house

You didn't even check the doorknob may have been unlocked
Plot twist: this wasn't his house
Definitely not. Sometimes the county donates abandoned houses to train on
Oops, wrong house
Or you could've just broke the glass and reach in and unlock it.
You would still need a key to open the lock.

Breelaking/ opening windows is a bad idea if the house is on fire.
I didn’t see checking for heat🤔
Dude I’m a maintenance guy just break a window it’s way cheaper
Yes I was thinking that myself but people donate houses to the city and push them down
Don’t think it really matters since you’re house is gonna be fucking on fire anyway

If the house is on fire, breaking/ opening windows would not be a good idea
If you smash the glass, you cant control the airflow into the building, which can make the fire get way worse than it has to be.

I could do it in half the time with just a axe
