Previously, we completed the center roof line and prepped for the install of the next ridge beam.
With all of our steel decking on site, we've begun focusing on moving towards the concrete ceiling pour. Each steel plate has been installed which leaves us with the task of moving the steel beams into place, lifting the steel on top of the safe room walls and getting ready to lay the final course of block.

I have noticed this the past few videos: their daughter has so many of her moms mannerisms; the way she talks to the animals, her upbeat attitude, etc. And the oldest son sounds so much like his dad that I'm never sure who is actually talking until the shot pans to him. So truly "wonderful"!
It's a lot of fun to watch your excitement about how much closer you are to finishing each episode. Erin, I have a suggestion/request. When your working with metal PLEASE use gloves. I've actually first hand seen severe injuries from not wearing gloves. I know your tough as nails but I'm sure you want to keep all 10 digits. You guys are awesome.

I definitely want to live in your small town, the Cafe looks amazing and just the scenery makes my heart smile. However, at 73 I don’t see me relocating from hot Florida, so watching your channel at least I get to experience your world. Your family ethics are amazing, the kiddos get to experience taking care of livestock, sweet baby girl and her chickens 🐓. Your home will be a fortress and thank goodness for the safe room.
I remember that Elly was a baby when you came onto this property and now look at her she is a young lady and looks after the animals so well. The boys are no longer boys but young men and help with farm chores so much. A lovely hard working loving family. Have a lovely day.
This was a nerve wracking video. I don't know what was more dicey, the 20ft ridge beam with Erin and Josh hiked high up ladders. Moving of the beam, with Erin standing between rebar and lifting a heavy beam with no leg help all back, and Josh balancing on the wall and doing the same. Or Josh moving a ton of block and mortar over his head with the lift! I'm glad that's over with, LOL. Whew! Good luck with the last blocks. Stay safe.

I think OSHA would call that an impalement hazard. Plastic rebar safety caps are an ideal solution solution.

your daughter Ellie is too cute, I grew up in Miami everything is built with concrete blocks and steel it is the hurricane code the toughest building code in this country. I have been involved with several safe rooms and yours looks like it will work fine. house looks great so far. I am a concrete contractor Cultured Concrete, I do decorative concrete concrete art.

You should get some safety caps for the rebar they're cheap and they can save your life getting impaled on rebar isn't something you ever wanna see happen especially to your wife or kids otherwise keep up the good work man. 🍻

You two are definitely an inspiration for anyone raising or starting a family. Building a house, running a farm, remodeling & running a cafe etc, etc. Plus you look like you’re having fun while doing it all!! Amazing. Just to make sure you both are real and not some AI creation we spent a couple days in Romney 2 weeks ago. The cafe is great. The Sammy breakfast sandwich with the Cinnamon Bun were hits with my wife and me. Meg and the other ladies were very friendly and helpful. It was a nice visit for us. As a side note the owner of Wapocoma RV park told us we were the second couple that week that stayer there to visit Wild Roots Cafe.❤

It doesn’t matter why they are building a safe room! That’s what they decided on and it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. They are building it, I am sure they have a reason and in the end it’s their decision! People do many things that please themselves and no need to p,ease anyone else…

I’m here to mention the steel cap boots with chainsaw. While I’m chuffed to see they’re using the same chainsaw as me the blade ending towards the flimsy Vans gave me a shiver 🥶 you just never know

You guys are so amazing! I highly recommend buying red light panels for your home to drastically help with pain and inflammation and overall to give you the strength and endurance and recovery that you both need working so hard!

Hearing protection is as essential as eye protection. EVERYBODY needs to use it anytime loud noise is being produced. My dad lost some hearing and thought that was all so didn't protect what he had left. He continued with nothing and eventually lost the rest. He taught himself to read lips but it was sad. He missed out on so much. Be safe and err on the side of caution! ❤
