If I remember from the first movie it wasn't Orm that locked their mother to be killed it was his father upon realizing that his mother had Arthur after forcing her to give him another kid he sacrificed her to the trench only no one knew she survived Orm thought she was dead as well as Arthur until the end of the last movie

In the first Aquaman movie, I'm pretty sure it was Orm's father not Orm who sent Atlanna into the trench to die.
