On the topic of someone taking over the reins of Hashtag United at some point in the future, I completely understand that it's necessary in order to push the club forward, but I'd be more than a little fearful of it. As it stands, I'm 100% confident that the club is being overseen by someone (actually a team of people) that will never make a decision that is not in the best interests of the club itself. That's a very strong and unique quality to have in your identity, which resonates with a lot of fans. My concern would be that any future person or group that takes on the role would not have such a strong commitment, or maybe even they in turn may choose to pass the club on again to someone that goes against that.
That being said, I know it can't simply continue as it is for ever. I'm just concerned about the "cost" of progress. I'm already committed to the journey and I'll be along for whatever ride there is.

I thought Hashtag was a gimmick until I watched some of Spencer’s old videos discussing the club, and especially his background with non-league football and making videos about non-league. I really think a major mistake would be made if a sale was sanctioned for Hashtag United.
He’s said before he’d rather exist in 50 years than rush promotion to the EFL in 5. I hope he keeps that mindset going and doesn’t get caught up in what could happen if he sells

@@TylerAven10 they have massive sponsorship brands for their level the women are 2 tier behind the tpp the gaffer is my uni teacher its crazy how big they've grown to have a women's team in the second tier next year hopefully is crazy

Realistically if Hashtag are going to majorly kick on from this point it needs outside investment, which of course is by no means a guarantee of success. Many rich idiots plow money into a club with no return. Anyway, over the course of the years listening to Spencer I can't see him ever giving up majority control. It was his dream to own and run a football club, not some ego driven thirst for recognition and glory you see in the lower leagues.

I think attendance will improve hugely over the next 10 years or so. As you say, a lot of the audience is kind of in that 15-20ish range. I think over the next 10-15 years that group will start working and have money and be able to attend games regularly and once that first generation of hashtag supporters gets to the age where they can go to games regularly then the attendance will improve a lot

  • @ForzaBantams
    @ForzaBantams 9 месяцев назад +9

42:24 I don’t know whether the women’s team already have a dedicated channel and I know there’s logistical considerations but the team definitely need Hashtag to do a BBC & Sky to normalise the women’s team to the main audience. Either by having the goals and an update on their league position before each men’s match which then would still allow the option for people to skip it (a bit like how people have sponsored content at the start of the vid) then direct them to subscribe to the women’s channel for extended highlights. Then when the women’s channel takes hold you can drop it to the end so people don’t get spoilers or if it’s got a good enough following drop it from the main vid completely.
Think it’s one way to prepare for the championship and help both maximise the benefits of having a women’s team reaching the championship.
Let’s face it I won’t be the only one who doesn’t take much interest purely because unlike with the men’s team, I’ve just not had the easy access to matches whilst I’m watching the team I’m already invested in. So make it easy for me and I probably will follow the fortunes of the women’s team like I do the men’s. And I’m a Bradford City supporter.

I think it's awesome that you guys really value women's football. As the recent World Cup showed, there's a huge market for women's sports, and more clubs are starting to realise this. I follow the Australian A-Leagues pretty closely, and I think its women's league is more competitive than the men's comp. They also recently renamed the competition to share the A-League name (hence A-Leagues), so they're on par with each other in terms of recognition.

  • @MANapier7

This was very good video and eye opening for everyone from the inside & outside of the club.
The previous five years was perfectly planned out. Isthmian Premier is where we belong and I can see us being here for a while until the right time to go up which imo is 2-3 years time.
I always wanted to play for hashtag while watching them in person, I got that dream became reality when I joined Hashtag Inclusive and look what I achieved with them.
I already talked about women championship licenses with some people and thinking if we win the league and deciding not to go up is okay with me cos I knew it’s a gamble that could go right or massively wrong.
I made new hashtag friends/family every past seasons and I can see it will keep growing every new season. It’s our job to make our home games is the place to come again.
Finally, the most important words always stay in everyone mind about this club is SUSTAINABLE and UNIQUE! Trust this process and we will have an incredible future! UP THE TAG!

Absolutely love this Spen doggy dog. As someone that used to photo bomb pictures, doing the Hashtag symbol, and watched you guys religiously before you went into the pyramid, it's remarkable to see how far you've come.
I'd love for you to have Stephen Howson on, to speak about the ins and outs of his team "Stretford Paddock FC". I think you've spoken on it before, but it's a club birthed from the Social Media world like yours, but it's whole financial model couldn't be more different, with it being a fan owned entity. Would be great to hear about the similarities and differences in the 2 worlds.
I love it whenever one of your pods come up, they are always a remarkable listen. Don't go changing.

What I would love is for you to hit the Dana White model, not that I love the guy's politics, but the dude got in at the start, then teamed up with two super wealthy dudes, pushed on, then sold to a mega-corporation but stayed on as President. He then gets the wealth in the billions to affect change, while knowing he has the backing of the Reeboks and Zuffas of the world to provide long-term sustainability. I'd love that for you and Hashtag, for the financial might from outside to push the club forward, but for you to always be the talisman for as long as you are happy to do so.

We have a local semi-pro organization where I am from that consistently assists our youth football programs by offering extra training sessions, tryouts for travel teams, etc. and they have been so helpful getting more kids into the sport in a place where American football and basketball are really the bigger sports. I think women's football will rocket soon.
I remember watching them about 7/8 years ago and thought all of the typical "they aren't that good, not very impressed".
I watched the most recent world cup and wow, they are so much better it is amazing.
I have been keeping up with the West Ham Women team and they are great, the most recent game they got a red card in the 95th then scored the equaliser in the 98th.
Even though they are second bottom, they are still very entertaining.
Adding onto this, imagine seeing hashtag in a women's champions league in the 2030s (that's how long I think it will take to compete with top teams)
I would try get tickets to them games just to support it the whole idea.

I don’t own a football club and I’m not even a business owner but this was so insightful

Been watching Hashtag since the start. It’s been an amazing journey and this is a great idea to show the insides to running the club. Cant wait for more

In my opinion the most logical move is to invest the majority of efforts into the women’s game. The potential is the highest at this early stage in both the hashtag scene and women’s football with fan engagement for the men’s game being cemented with traditional teams.

This may be a weird take or even a bit late for me comment, but i think an interview with someone like Darren Eales, former president of my local club Atlanta United, would be interesting because he can compare the way football is runned in America vs the UK, as he is now the CEO of Newcastle United.

I’d love for you to sit down with Simon Jordan, might be a reach but I know he’s done a few podcasts before. I listen to him most days on talkSPORT and I think he speaks a lot of sense and I know he’s a big advocate for sustainable football clubs
P.s. love the content and I’ve been a Hashtag follower from the start

Love it spen, a Birmingham city player/coach from the 2010/11 Carling cup win era would be interesting, the club was a mess back then and has only recently got back on track

Loved the video guys it was very insightful as always and I love what you guys are doing for women’s and youth football in Essex. But just one question have you reported the manager who threatened your players to the Essex FA or just the FA in general?

Incredible video and insights into the club and non-league. This could be an amazing series. Good guest would be Gary Neville and Salford since he was heavily involved with that. Use those connections at Sky to pull a few strings perhaps

Brilliant concept for a new series 👏🏽 you guys should chat to a Marske United member who are the same level as Hashtag but up in the north east and also play in the infamous yellow and blue! A lot going on at that club at the minute

Hi Spencer, A video I would love to see is Devs and the other coaches talk about what they think a good football coach is and their opinions on the role of a manager and a coach. Im interested in this type of video because I want to become a football coach and hope one day I might be at Hashtag

Someone who I think would be good on the podcast (could be different to get on) is Bolton Wanderers owner, Sharon Britton. A female club owner with a very similar ideology of running a football club, just at a higher level. I think that would be a very interesting conversation

A good person to have on is marc white at dorking, hes the owner/manager. Hes a massive character and plays in the national league with my club Chesterfield. He'd love to be on. My clubs owner would be good as well as we are charity ran, with local investor's, weve previously been in playoffs to get championship in last 10 years,we had bad owners and dropped like a stone until we got taken over 2 years ago.
The national league will be the financial struggle if you ever get there due to the stadium requirements etc, league 2 is real grass pitch
