- Electronic press kit for De La Soul's first LP, Three Feet High and Rising, which was released March 3, 1989. Shared for historical reference. I do not own the rights.
De La Soul is an American hip hop trio formed in 1987 in Amityville, New York. They are best known for their eclectic sampling, quirky lyrics, and their contributions to the evolution of the jazz rap and alternative hip hop subgenres. The members are Posdnuos, Trugoy and Maseo. The three formed the group in high school and caught the attention of producer Prince Paul with a demo tape of the song "Plug Tunin'". With its playful wordplay, innovative sampling, and witty skits, the band's debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, has been called "a hip hop masterpiece. - wikipedia

History and culture.... They still make music and tour....
I have a keyboard, bass guitar, electric guitar and a small home studio in my bedroom. All because of De La Soul.
Witnessed De La Soul back in 1996 at Sheffield's Leadmill in Sheffield UK. In my 40s now - still love them. Introducing their sounds to my 9 year old daughter. ✌
I went back and bought this album on fun blue cassette tape from DBS Sounds two weekends ago because it's still sounds GOOD and aged well 35 YEARS LATER.
Thanks I needed this 3-10-24 de la soul 4 life. I remember 88' college campus DJs playing this classic material 🕊️
You're very welcome
there needs to be a daisy age renaissance

5:26 sounds to me like something the Avalanches would have sampled on Since I Left You
Anybody remember when the Black communities used to have that kind of love 24/7 such a thing of the past now.

Amazing vid. I love that the Potholes video is at the end. Classic.

The Classic 🔥💣
My first dog breeding in 89, I used money to buy the first De La Soul album, a turntable & blank cassettes.
@cdshawn
I saw this on video music box... I think 🤔... Anyway... I SAW THIS BACK THEN... it always INFURIATES me when I see hip hop media personalities... Talking to these dudes... And they have absolutely no clue about the information given in THIS interview/VIDEO 🤬!!! Like... You got these geniuses repeating the same information they expressed to the planet almost 50 years ago!!! Imagine how frustrating that has to be for the group. I'm just saying...
❤
Good times!
That thumbnail dude 😊👍

Dela La C00.ns !!!
Get the fuck outta here. Explain yourself, then go to hell. You are too dense to understand how they changed all hip hop.
👹
Sampled an amazing song and you got a hit.
Weird huh? Lol
First time i heard de la soul...daym where was I..
I was a junior in high school, in bed with headphones on, listening to the “3 Ft” cassette I bought that day with money from my $3.50-per-hour job at a toy store. I never realized how much I craved something different out of rap music until I heard it.
I was on the city bus … thought I’d try something new. Was instantly enchanted.
