man i wish i had one of these things. my mom destroyed my gaming collection after she got me kicked out from my apartment because she wanted me to come back home so bad. they landlord let her come with a moving truck and take everything i had under the story she was taking it to storage. my years and years of collecting consoles and games are gone :( now im homeless and just stuck watching all these videos and man i miss gaming. that was my only escape from this horrible lifestyle... this is my dream devices fr.
You could panhandle $200 get a Odin lite and download a bunch of emulators. Start a RUclips channel the homeless gamer review and maybe you could make a living doing that. Or just use your phone and talk about games then post them. Set up a Patreon also.
You’re not alone man, I’m not really in your situation but I do wish I had more of a caring family.
I’m glad you decided to get the Ally. I’ve been using mine and it’s been absolute joy to game on this.
Better to sell the PSVR 2 than a kidney.

I'm saving for steam deck this is a great device but can't afford that much or I'm too impatient to wait to save for that long 😂
Me too, after I get it don’t know if I’ll really have any money for games yet since I’ve never owned a pc so don’t have any steam games but I think the 3 month game pass will be fine for a month or so until I can afford some games
@@jmdyt3626 I have Xbox Game Pass so going to have 100 full games to access when I get ROG Ally Extreme this weekend. Plus I own a couple in Steam.

Looks nice just hate the color, wish they would make mroe then oen color for a handheld. Still way to much money really, and glad you cold that VR2 it a waste of money when there no games for it, they losing money on it when they didn't make backward so you can play your odler games.g as you love it that all that matters.

What concerns me is how quickly the system was eating up battery before you even got into a game 😅😅
These devices are known to not have good battery life. That's a given.
Battery life is horrible I agree but it's a beast of a handheld. Takes a lot of power to run what it's running.

For me the switch oled is the king of handheld followed by the ps Vita homebrew.
I too sent my psvr 2 back to Sony for a full refund.
It must be discouraging for Sony that PSVR2 is just not getting over

Hey Marc i picked up mine yesterday but got a defective system :( I'm hoping they got one in stock today
What defect was it?
@@Marcthegeek it kept freezing a lot. games wouldn't start up on Xbox game pass and on steam. when I tried to log in after I restarted the computer it said pin not available. so I then tried to put in my password same thing it would just be stuck on the login menu

The UI does look very crap. Not even close to Steam OS.

I'm enjoying the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally. Being a portable PC, you have more capabilities.
Is there much point in keeping both?
@e15docta Why not? They're both cool pieces of tech. I've always loved Sony and hated how they never continued to develop the Vita into a better handheld. It's many years later and finally, other companies are doing it.
@@busterhoodstar6598 yeah, I get that. I just meant that the Ally plays mostly everything the Deck plays, so is there much point in having both.
@e15docta out of all the portables that are out there, these are the only two that interest me. They're both different enough for me to have both. I'm very familiar with PCs and windows.

Yep! PSVR 2 not for me. No game makes me want to play on it. And I returned the ROG Ally cause I have better choices than it. 😆

Yo Mark, how are the suspend/resume capabilities of the Ally? Is it as easy/effective as the Steam Deck, or does it rely too much on Windows for that?
It's just like Windows. You have the exit the game. Not like Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch.
psvr 2 with gt7 and fanatec seat rig is the best, I will never sell my psvr2 for and ally specially after owing a steam deck.

I did not find the free voucher for the game pass library as promised by the company?? I went to the store and then the library and then the one included with the device and I did not find anything!!!!!
You have to login to Xbox Gamepass using your official Xbox account on the ROG Ally. Then as you login in, you should see the option to claim your free months. That's how it worked for me.
With windows it has its problem, I tested it !

Returned mine in 24 hours due to broken trigger and horrible dead zones not to mention insanely cumbersome set up.

After using both for a bit, I'd say the ally, because it's windows based, so you can play any game on any client so easily

I'm reading Reddit and watching stuff, because I'm thinking to get one for fun. I need new toy. It's not bad device, but the battery life is mediocre.Also many people refunded it, because they are complaining about stick dead zones. Also the Armoury Create software is said to suck. Since i'm very very high-end / enthusiast of PC user and having ASUS motherboard and various AURA enabled devices (incl. Strix RTX 4090)... I'm using it for that... and man I hate it. It's very buggy software.
I tried it at Best Buy and it’s an amazing machine. That screen is beautiful. The display unit was really hot at the top, played the Forza horizon 4 demo on it and it was amazing. Just can’t justify it for myself because I have an awesome gaming laptop and I could always stream to my phone on my home network and actually have better graphic settings. And away from home it just won’t have the battery life to make it worthwhile.
Not a great decision right now resident evil 4 remake coming out soon for psvr 2 and assassin creed nexus in future

Yep i got mine yesterday. First pc game. This thing is a pain to set up 🤣🤣🤣 then again ive never used a pc to game on anyway
Oh yes. Must do some adjustments to save the battery. Etc...
This is nothing but a portable PC. Nowhere close to the Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch.
