It does . I think this is his best. In the beautiful film Local Hero the original version of this is the final scene, with an aerial view of Houston at night ( the film is set in Scotland not far from Inverness, the beach is on the West Coat ). Just the most amazing upbeat bit of music I have ever heard.

When in Scotland we went to the village and to the phone box, all because of this film and the outstanding sounds of Mark, all the way from Australia
@@chriskeevers9913I am Australian too. i was on my way driving from Edinburgh to Inverness. I was there in September freezing while local school girls in Aberdeen were wearing summer uniforms. I ended up with a horrible cold & just could not make it. That really was disappointing.

They can !! - look up Tommy and Phil Emmanuel playing this song "Going Home" for a private show. Phil Emmanuel is (was) one of the World's best plectrum guitarists until his passing in 2018.

Upon the insistence of my dear old Dad, this music was played whilst the pallbearers carried his coffin out of the church. My Dad was a life long Newcastle United supporter and always loved the tune since it was adopted by the team when making their way onto the pitch at St James Park. " That's my favourite piece of music. I want that playing at my funeral " he said. How fitting that it is called GOING HOME ( LOCAL HERO )

The lick at 3.58 is uncommon in going home versions. When he begins to pick it it sounds like it is not going to fit properly or end up well, but it finally does! It is very "knopflerian" indeed, and one of his style's features we like him so much for, isn't it?
