So I have this one friend he was a Brig player during GOATS and when she came out in about a month he went from almost being bronze to being 4300 by only playing brig. Braindead hero amirite.
This was horrible on console. I was t500 on xbx and literally no joke, during goats I saw dozens of gms/t500s who were diamond and usually even lower became a brig 1trick playing at these ranks...

Remember it’s 4 second(or so) cooldown too? So on top of all that bs, she could do it every 4 seconds and get a free 50 damage from it, which ALSO is a guaranteed whip shot if(and let’s be honest, it always would hit) shield bash landed.

It still saddens me when I think of Overwatch. It was so good when it came out. So much fun, then it just got worse and worse. More and more frustrating instead of enjoyable. They botched the eSports as well. Now I have pretty much zero expectations for OW2, but it's completely different from OW1 so we'll see I guess.
Lets not forget that when Monkey king first came out, apart from his insane damage, mobility and his ult procing items like skull basher, It also lagged the game extremely hard for most players when it was cast. So even though a lot of people tried to react to it the lag the ult caused usually resulted in them getting bashed anyway.

TBH Fahk is a better pick that Akuma. Akuma at his absolute worst pre-nerf still required ridiculously high execution to blow people up and you needed full bars to do it. Fahk is just stupid hitbox after stupid hitbox and way too much damage. Leroy was definitely the worst for T7. Not only was he broken, he was STUPIDLY easy to play too. The idea that pros would pick up a brand new character that's less than a month old and take him far in Evo Japan (much less take 6/8 top8) was unthinkable. Tekken is just too deep of a game to learn a new character to the level required to do that. Except Leroy was broken AND was extremely braindead and easy to play.
I would’ve been shocked he got into tekken but unsurprised he was top tier once he did. Akuma is busted in almost every game outside of the marvel series.

#1 is well deserved but I’ve gotta point out that Brig just brought a serious design flaw in Overwatch to light. Prior to her release, 3 tank 3 support lineups were a strong option, most players just enjoyed playing damage characters. The game is won by holding positions and that was easy to do with a lot of health and healing.
Yeah fr who thought it would be a good idea to give a 300 hp healer a shield and let her have a stun with a weapon that can hit people 18 miles away from you. Oh and did I mention her ult made her impossible to kill. Oh wait that doesn’t even matter because she’s always impossible to kill.

Not only that but in unlimited she was immortal in the right hand and I noticed she could cancel any tanks charge ram by ramming them at the perfect time at the right angle making all tank unless when being stunned. But all hero games got broken character, battle born,paladins and apex legends got the same problems. Caustic,gibby and lifeline are the worst in apex while Banglore don't get 15% penalty damage for small hit box while wattson hitbox is bigger and they nerf her to shit.
And contrary to popular belief Brig's reign of terror didn't end with role queue. It just took a small break/drop. She was dominant as hell in double shield (dominant role queue meta from time it was introduced till summer 2020) to the point that Blizzard just gave up trying to balance the character and sledgehammer nerfed her. LITERALLY 21 nerfs required and the character is still in a playable state (despite what ppl might think shes not bad shes just bad in the current meta) So even role queue didn't kill the monster
What do you mean used to? She still does. Rally 200hp+100 rally armor = charge will deal 295 damage leaving her with 5hp. When she hits the wall she can just shield bash/whip shot reinhardt away to survive
Man you guys gave me such a nostalgia trip, where Xin Zhao was the most mobile champion in League of Legends. Now every champion on release has at least 2 - 3 times his mobility besides for Aphelios.
you should try it again, they made her doo doo recently and the meta is very fresh, as the best one requires immense teamwork and is still only slightly better than others. Most other things you can still run (besides bastion lul)
In spite of the fear of referencing an esport whose time in the limelight has long since past, I want to mention Lyra from Vainglory. She was the first hero in the game with an instant teleport, which was done through her ult by creating a tunnel that would teleport you if you stepped on one side of it. She was meant to be a mobile support, able to teleport into engages and restrict movement with her B (which created a radius which could not be dashed into or out of, when dashing was a major part of most hero's kits in VG) and provide ranged heals with her A (placed a circle within a generously large radius that healed allies and damages enemies). Her heroic perk was that her basic attack were followed up with a much faster basic attack if you kept the enemy targeted for long enough, which provided a slow and made it a bit harder to kite Lyra. Here was the problem. You have a hero who has an instant engage (upgrading the ult provided extra range on her basics, by the way, which gave her the second longest basic attack range in the game behind Adagio), a self-heal, a CC which prevents movement abilities, and a basic attack with a built-in slow. Then, you give her a FUCKING CRYSTAL RATIO on her basic attacks and her A ability, which meant that instead of scaling off of health like a support should, Lyra could just build crystal items and have a basic attack which slows and deals massive damage, a massive self-heal (which, I forgot to mention, gave bonus move speed for a second after the heal ran out, could also be self-cancelled to grant the move speed instantly if need be to chase), the ability to ambush instantly, and a singular ability that hard countered, off of the top of my head, Koshka's entire kit, Joule's engage, Taka's entire kit, Blackfeather's engage, Skye's dash, Vox's dash, Glaive's dash, Ardan's dash, Rona's dash, Fortress' dash, and Petal's leap engage/disengage; at this point in the game, this was literally more than half the roster. The ones who didn't have movement abilities such as Ringo, Skaarf, or Celeste literally disappeared from the meta for multiple patches, and after 7 days of being released she had a 90%+ pick rate in casuals, a near 100% ban rate in ranked, and was hotfixed twice. Those were literal patches for the sole purpose of toning down Lyra. She was released in mid-2016, but at World's in 2017, Lyra (along with Kestrel, but for other reasons) STILL had a 100% pick or ban rate. Lyra was literally played or removed from play in every single professional match in Vainglory esports until her eventually "nail in the coffin" fifth consecutive nerf which finally allowed other healers such as Adagio to become viable in the meta again. There are many broken heroes in VG, such as 1.8 Skye having a weapon and crystal ratio on the same ability, or pre-patch Grumpjaw, or that time they decided to make Koshka's basic attacks reset her cooldowns by 25% every time she connected with someone, or Echo Gauntlet Ardan, but few heroes in any game can say they defined the meta, much less had the meta built around whether they were played after two back-to-back balance fixes for the sole purpose of fixing that hero. Lyra was an absolute monstrosity who 100% would have made this list if that game continued to be popular.

Remember when Aphelios ultimate could literally one shot your entire team and when they nerfed the ult everyone thought he was balanced but then it took everyone 5 minutes to realise the rest of his kit of also broken. He was so busted he brought over a new meme (200 years) and everyone abused him for freelo and he was permabanned in pro play until Riot nerfed him for the 12th time and now he is garbage. R.I.P Aphelios.
The good news for Riot is that they usually find a way to balance the champ/make them not busted. Only a few champs have given them prolonged balance problems that took a long time to fix. Riot absolutely fucks up a lot with character design and balance but they generally find a way to balance the characters in a decent amount of time.

I started playing the game when Brig was broken, and I intentionally avoided playing her because I knew I wouldn't actually get better at the game if I abused her literally broken stats. As such, I stayed in the lower ranks where I belonged because I sucked at the game and have slowly built up playing other characters who don't get value just for existing like she did.
I only played her in Random Hero’s and I will NEVER forget that time when it was just me on a point vs 3 D.Va’s and a Mercy and they legit didn’t even attempt to get near the point. Perfectly fair if three dive tanks pissed themselves upon seeing a ‘support’

The worst part about Leroy is that we already had this situation with Bob in T6, but Leroy was even more broken. At least Bob in T6 was among a weak cast overall. T7 has super buff characters and Leroy was just that much stronger than all of them.
I think they only did this one other time unless that was just fighting character. I know they did top broken characters in smash before and possible R6S. They did most broken snipers top. I think they recycle the theme of the videos but change the topic for the most part

Overwatch's GOATS problem wasn't entirely Brig. She was problematic for sure, but there was alot that led up to the Goats meta. Nerfs and buffs before her release created the issue and she was just the culmination of the problem.
Beta Jax and Twisted Fate are some of the most stupidly strong characters ever released. Jax was Way way way Stronger than Beta Twisted Fate When someone picked Jax not even the fountain was safe....
Properly executed tf could shut down the whole map. Jax was good enough to 1v5 mid to late game, but it doesn't amount to shit when your team is already 0-99.
One little thing though: Post rework Akali is probably the single most broken LoL character of all time. People seem to forget that while she is nowadays a champion good enough to be played on a competitive level, she used to have: -More damage on litterally every single ability -Her Q also dealt damage behind her -A stun on her ult -Built-in healing -Huge Cooldown nerfs on all abilities -A 40 energy nerf on her Q from level 1 which means she could throw 3 at you at level 1 if played correctly (now you can hardly do 2) -AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SHE WAS INVISIBLE UNDER TOWERS WHO ON EARTH THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA? And yeah she is still being played by pro players to this day with all these nerfs...
I find the league's most broken champ to be Kha'zix with his reworked ultimate upgrade, the one that made you invisible once you entered a bush. If you rushed mobis after lvl 6, you could literally cross the entire map whilst being invisible. Riot has some really weird ideas every now and then

That was the point. Instead of reworking the hero and coming up with a lore excuse for it, they decided to force players to lock them to certain roles with no ways of adapting.
I can't believe they didn't add Black Beard from Rainbow the dude was so strong that he went from having an unbreakable shield to two which can only tank two bullets and he still sees play, legit every single team worked getting around this problem. To the full team spawn peeking to target B.B became a meta.

Ok on overwatch if I play healer I'm usually a mercy main but back when she first came out, oh boy that's a story. I was playing on a team with no healer so I played mercy like normal but I was the only healer in a team filled with rude players. I try my best to support the team but we kept losing until my day one Brigitte came in. As soon as I swap I instantly became the target because I was doing so well. On the last game I single handedly took on the whole team, killed 4 and saved the game.
There was also the less fun variant of goats, swap your best damage (zen) for sombra to just win any fight with emp, because that ult is also pretty good. Brig was also nerfed to oblivion recently
The difference is brawl was still playable, even against meta knight. Sure, he was unfathomably broken, but the game was still somewhat fun when playing as, or even sometimes against him. It was fun to outplay bad meta knights. With brig, it’s not fun to play as her, not fun to play with her, not fun to play against her, and not fun to kill her. She singlehandedly broke an entire game. The viewership drops when goats started being the only viable meta in owl are the most significant drops of viewership across any esport EVER. That thing is satan with a shield, and she frankly belongs at number 0, because she is in a class all on her own
I think Brig was the final nail in the coffin. OW was dying due to the lack of genuine concern over the state of the community. People rage reported others over character choice, false bans were given by an automated system with a farce of an appeal system, the developers openly stated adamance towards smurf accounts running rampant in lower ranks, etc. Streamers and other big names were treated like royalty, where they get away with toxic behavior that everyone else gets punished for and are able to force the developers to do something they want by threatening to stop streaming Overwatch. It’s a shell of the potential it had, and now no one thinks of it as an esport game anymore.
Brigitte killed playing reaper for me. It was pretty frustatin to try to do anything with reaper when you get stunned or knocked back everytime you try to flank.
I'll never forget when I was getting into competitive Smash in the dying days of 4 (after casually playing since the very first game) and I experienced my first zero-to-death off the top at the hands of a Bayonetta. I was just like, "I don't know if I want to play this game anymore."
@@Roka7 Bayo abilities were escapable but most players didn't SDI at all in 4. Esam made a video about how to escape actually. Then the nerfs happened and she kills much more normally now but regardless, much more comparatively powerful than the other characters within her game vs fox who isn't even necessarily the best character in melee.

The only exception is Akshon Esports, and they are partnered with OWL (But they did do OW content before they got the partnership) Literally nobody has cared about Overwatch since Brig came out, and despite all of the good things happening in the community, they ignore all of it in favor of shitting on the game. "Did Sinatraa Just Kill the Overwatch League?" No, TheScore Esports, one player leaving for a different game doesn't kill it. "How One of Overwatch's Best Teams Collapsed" Oh so you're going to talk about the Titans not when they win Stage 1, not when they get 2nd in Stage 2, not when they go to the overall Grand Finals, but when the org treats the players like shit and destroys the roster. I can't even listen to TheScore when they talk about Overwatch anymore, they don't care about the game at all enough to have informed opinions about it.
I still remember the horrors of release brig. There was this one game she got nano boosted during her rally and my time threw 5 out of our 6 ults on her and she literally lived. She was able to stun sombra out of emp on reaction everytime. She was able to instalkill tracer every 4-5 seconds, stop any ult on reaction with her bash and her team wouldnt die at all during rally even with all of them being anti-naded. The flashbacks omg.
To be fair, Brawl was on the Wii, and at that point they didn't expect every household to have internet connectivity for their Nintendo devices. So to put a patch out would've meant a lot of people wouldn't have gotten it.
Well, to make new content you have to go for other titles tbh. They have already covered everything there is to cover in the big games so maybe a solution would be looking into some lesser known titles?
Sm4sh players were the dumbest bunch of idiots in history. They just wouldn't ban Bayo because they feared that people would stop attending tournaments. When a top player comes down from his perch saying "Pfff ! I will not attend this event if my character is banned !" i'm just not buying it. For a lot of these top players, competing is their livelihood. They'll get mad, complain on twitter for a week or a month at most and then they'll just jump right back into the game with their secondaries as their main. Like, i get that it's your favorite character but you are not the center of the world and between the community (and the meta) moving forward (and keeping interest in the game alive by not having the same character in 5 of the 8 spots of top 8) and flat-out killing the community/interest in the game (also killing your livelihood because if the interest in a game is at 0, there will be no more tournaments therefore no money). The choice is pretty easy to make imo. I remember at EVO 2018, everybody knew that it was going to be Smash Wii U's last major tournaments because of two factors: 1): Ultimate was coming out in 5 months (as soon as it came out, it was like Smash4 never happened) 2): Interest in the game sunk to 0 because every one saw where the meta was going. Singles was all Bayonetta and Cloud had killed doubles. A Complete dead end. Even the commentators were like: "I can't wait for Ultimate to come out". Nobody wanted to deal with this bullshit anymore and yet, they just...let it happen.
I'm not surprised meta knight made top 2 because he can do everything on brawl. I mained him without realizing he was broken, and I was five years old dominating my whole school wit this character.
In Destiny 2 there's an ability set called stasis that's centered around freezing enemies and creating ice crystals using grenades that can be used as cover or can be exploded to deal damage. For two of the three classes, there are ways of shattering the ice crystals such that they will instakill any enemy player nearby. For the record there are no other grenades in the game that can instakill an enemy. It just got patched somewhat a few days ago but I suspect that it will remain very powerful.
Let's not forget the most broken thing about Tekken 7 Akuma: his health. In the Street Fighter and Marvel games he appeared in, his insane damage output and utility was balanced by having pathetically low HP. In Tekken however, everyone has the same HP, including Akuma. Take away Akuma's only downside, and suddenly it's no wonder he's so busted.
Soul Calibur 4 Hilde definitely deserves a slot. She had a TOD ring out from anywhere on screen that could be initiated off 2 moves that were huge, fast, + frames on block (a rare luxury in SC games), AND worst of all had built in auto parry and evasion that would deflect an incoming attack and land your hit instead. You literally would just hold her charges and poke with kicks till you could land these combo starters as a reaction to the opponents attack or just throw it out safely and use the free frames to pressure. Playing against her in tournaments meant you could only try to land quick low damage pokes 15-20 times to ensure safety to not be auto parried int TOD. Once Hilde knew the TOD combo your only hard counter against her was stage selecting a non-RO stage.

The sniper class in Killzone 3 was probably the most broken class I have played. You had a one shot kill sniper rifle and the ability to stay invisible as long as you used silenced weapons. What made it super OP was the silenced machine pistol secondary.
Overwatch didn't die because Brigitte is OP, it died because Blizzard took too long to nerf her, she should've been nerfed to the ground and THEN given some buffs, but they were too scared of overnerfing her that she stayed broken for a long time. The game died because of that, much deserved so.
Yeah its a recurring theme with Blizzard they are always so scared to do anything to the heroes and it's one of the biggest reasons why a lot of people(including me) stopped playing
That's a shame since I bought OW a couple weeks ago because of Brig, since I love battle medics. She just doesn't feel like that and it sucks because I thought I would be having more fun than the standard squishy healer. I hate being that defenseless.
release patch Cummans in AOE2, they rule soloQ during the first month of DE, they were insane, and the community start to say that the Cummans were turning AOE2 into League of Legends, they were just insane, not only they have the unique ability to make an extra TC and start making rams one Age early, but they also have and incredibly scout rush, and have access to the Steppe Lancer, who were broken on release with they extra range
Worst part about Meta Knight is that there was literally no counter to him. Nobody even went even with him, it's either losing or losing harder. Tier lists were essentially mk matchup charts. Even against the second best character in the game, Ice Climbers, could do nothing against him. It was an actual strategy to stall in the air where they can't reach.
The thing I never understood was Brig was always gonna be broken since she was designed to counter a WHOLE META, not just one or two heroes. Why were they surprised people were gonna say she’s broken?
Amazing how Ubisoft put Lion in quarantine then instant he had 100% ban rate, but Brigitte literally killed Overwatch over the span of 2 years and Blizzard did NOTHING. Breaks my heart. I love OW. I hope Brig is reworked for OW2 because the game is a masterpiece.

Lion in Siege was such a problem. He was super strong that he kept getting nerfed, but it wasn't enough. He was banned from the Pro League until he was reworked.
Actually kinda surprised the Ela (R6S) wasn’t on this list seeing as though she was a 3 speed op with the scorpion evo that had extremely high fire rate, a 50 round magazine and basically no recoil and had 4 Ice cream cones that disoriented anyone in there AOE when triggered
Lion should’ve been number 1. Literally no character in esports history straight up forced bans to be invented, and was taken out of esports entirely because he was too strong.
To be fair, they couldn't patch Brawl because it wasn't online. It was back in the good ol' days when the game was on the disk and not downloaded from a server.
Even after the changes, the overall impact of Brig has ruined the game for me. More often heroes are released that just completely overshadow everything else because of how universal their kit is
The worst part about Brigitte isn't even any of the over tunned numbers or her busted kit. It's the fact that OW before her release had a lot of interesting and different team comps. Teams were running 3 dps 1 tank and 2 heals, and all different combination of heros. She single handedly made OW make the game 2 tanks 2 dps and 2 supports. Her purpose was to counter dive...but she literally countered everything in the game.

Aphelios was a result of some really _ass-backwards_ logic from Riot's design team: "OK, so this guy is by far the most complicated and unique champion in the game. He runs on entirely different mechanics to every other champion, to the point that he might as well be from an entirely different MOBA. So to justify how difficult he is to play, he has to be actually _literally OP_ when played to his full potential, because it's not like anyone is ever going to be able to put in the work necessary to actually master him, is it?" And then it turned out that not only, no, pro players would master Aphelios in short order, leading to him destroying the pro scene in every game he wasn't banned, but he was also completely busted just based on his ult+flamethrower combo being a classic "Press R to win" ability alone. So for months after his release it was just nerf-nerf-nerf-nerf-nerf-nerf until they FINALLY got him down to a level where he wasn't actually broken- and everyone promptly stopped playing him because he's still stupidly complex, but no longer worth the investment of effort. Also most of that footage of "prerelease TF" isn't actually of the TF from the beta; it's mostly season 1. In the beta, TF's Gate WAS HIS E ABILITY, NOT HIS ULT. His ult was just Destiny- but as well as globally revealing all enemy champions, it also GLOBALLY SLOWED THEM. Strange that they didn't mention that.
Not gonna lie, the overwatch segment made me laugh when I saw an entire team in a pro league match in front of a crowd no less, all turn around and head back to base like, "Nooooooope!"

Lets not forget that when Monkey king first came out, apart from his insane damage, mobility and his ult procing items like skull basher, It also lagged the game extremely hard for most players when it was cast. So even though a lot of people tried to react to it the lag the ult caused usually resulted in them getting bashed anyway.

TBH Fahk is a better pick that Akuma. Akuma at his absolute worst pre-nerf still required ridiculously high execution to blow people up and you needed full bars to do it. Fahk is just stupid hitbox after stupid hitbox and way too much damage. Leroy was definitely the worst for T7. Not only was he broken, he was STUPIDLY easy to play too. The idea that pros would pick up a brand new character that's less than a month old and take him far in Evo Japan (much less take 6/8 top8) was unthinkable. Tekken is just too deep of a game to learn a new character to the level required to do that. Except Leroy was broken AND was extremely braindead and easy to play.

#1 is well deserved but I’ve gotta point out that Brig just brought a serious design flaw in Overwatch to light. Prior to her release, 3 tank 3 support lineups were a strong option, most players just enjoyed playing damage characters. The game is won by holding positions and that was easy to do with a lot of health and healing.

Caustic,gibby and lifeline are the worst in apex while Banglore don't get 15% penalty damage for small hit box while wattson hitbox is bigger and they nerf her to shit.
And contrary to popular belief Brig's reign of terror didn't end with role queue. It just took a small break/drop. She was dominant as hell in double shield (dominant role queue meta from time it was introduced till summer 2020) to the point that Blizzard just gave up trying to balance the character and sledgehammer nerfed her. LITERALLY 21 nerfs required and the character is still in a playable state (despite what ppl might think shes not bad shes just bad in the current meta) So even role queue didn't kill the monster

What do you mean used to? She still does. Rally 200hp+100 rally armor = charge will deal 295 damage leaving her with 5hp. When she hits the wall she can just shield bash/whip shot reinhardt away to survive

In spite of the fear of referencing an esport whose time in the limelight has long since past, I want to mention Lyra from Vainglory. She was the first hero in the game with an instant teleport, which was done through her ult by creating a tunnel that would teleport you if you stepped on one side of it. She was meant to be a mobile support, able to teleport into engages and restrict movement with her B (which created a radius which could not be dashed into or out of, when dashing was a major part of most hero's kits in VG) and provide ranged heals with her A (placed a circle within a generously large radius that healed allies and damages enemies). Her heroic perk was that her basic attack were followed up with a much faster basic attack if you kept the enemy targeted for long enough, which provided a slow and made it a bit harder to kite Lyra.
Here was the problem. You have a hero who has an instant engage (upgrading the ult provided extra range on her basics, by the way, which gave her the second longest basic attack range in the game behind Adagio), a self-heal, a CC which prevents movement abilities, and a basic attack with a built-in slow. Then, you give her a FUCKING CRYSTAL RATIO on her basic attacks and her A ability, which meant that instead of scaling off of health like a support should, Lyra could just build crystal items and have a basic attack which slows and deals massive damage, a massive self-heal (which, I forgot to mention, gave bonus move speed for a second after the heal ran out, could also be self-cancelled to grant the move speed instantly if need be to chase), the ability to ambush instantly, and a singular ability that hard countered, off of the top of my head, Koshka's entire kit, Joule's engage, Taka's entire kit, Blackfeather's engage, Skye's dash, Vox's dash, Glaive's dash, Ardan's dash, Rona's dash, Fortress' dash, and Petal's leap engage/disengage; at this point in the game, this was literally more than half the roster. The ones who didn't have movement abilities such as Ringo, Skaarf, or Celeste literally disappeared from the meta for multiple patches, and after 7 days of being released she had a 90%+ pick rate in casuals, a near 100% ban rate in ranked, and was hotfixed twice. Those were literal patches for the sole purpose of toning down Lyra. She was released in mid-2016, but at World's in 2017, Lyra (along with Kestrel, but for other reasons) STILL had a 100% pick or ban rate. Lyra was literally played or removed from play in every single professional match in Vainglory esports until her eventually "nail in the coffin" fifth consecutive nerf which finally allowed other healers such as Adagio to become viable in the meta again. There are many broken heroes in VG, such as 1.8 Skye having a weapon and crystal ratio on the same ability, or pre-patch Grumpjaw, or that time they decided to make Koshka's basic attacks reset her cooldowns by 25% every time she connected with someone, or Echo Gauntlet Ardan, but few heroes in any game can say they defined the meta, much less had the meta built around whether they were played after two back-to-back balance fixes for the sole purpose of fixing that hero. Lyra was an absolute monstrosity who 100% would have made this list if that game continued to be popular.

The good news for Riot is that they usually find a way to balance the champ/make them not busted. Only a few champs have given them prolonged balance problems that took a long time to fix. Riot absolutely fucks up a lot with character design and balance but they generally find a way to balance the characters in a decent amount of time.

I started playing the game when Brig was broken, and I intentionally avoided playing her because I knew I wouldn't actually get better at the game if I abused her literally broken stats. As such, I stayed in the lower ranks where I belonged because I sucked at the game and have slowly built up playing other characters who don't get value just for existing like she did.
I only played her in Random Hero’s and I will NEVER forget that time when it was just me on a point vs 3 D.Va’s and a Mercy and they legit didn’t even attempt to get near the point. Perfectly fair if three dive tanks pissed themselves upon seeing a ‘support’

The worst part about Leroy is that we already had this situation with Bob in T6, but Leroy was even more broken. At least Bob in T6 was among a weak cast overall. T7 has super buff characters and Leroy was just that much stronger than all of them.

Overwatch's GOATS problem wasn't entirely Brig. She was problematic for sure, but there was alot that led up to the Goats meta. Nerfs and buffs before her release created the issue and she was just the culmination of the problem.
Beta Jax and Twisted Fate are some of the most stupidly strong characters ever released. Jax was Way way way Stronger than Beta Twisted Fate When someone picked Jax not even the fountain was safe....
Properly executed tf could shut down the whole map. Jax was good enough to 1v5 mid to late game, but it doesn't amount to shit when your team is already 0-99.

One little thing though: Post rework Akali is probably the single most broken LoL character of all time. People seem to forget that while she is nowadays a champion good enough to be played on a competitive level, she used to have:
-More damage on litterally every single ability
-Her Q also dealt damage behind her
-A stun on her ult
-Built-in healing
-Huge Cooldown nerfs on all abilities
-A 40 energy nerf on her Q from level 1 which means she could throw 3 at you at level 1 if played correctly (now you can hardly do 2)
-AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SHE WAS INVISIBLE UNDER TOWERS WHO ON EARTH THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?
And yeah she is still being played by pro players to this day with all these nerfs...
I find the league's most broken champ to be Kha'zix with his reworked ultimate upgrade, the one that made you invisible once you entered a bush. If you rushed mobis after lvl 6, you could literally cross the entire map whilst being invisible. Riot has some really weird ideas every now and then

Ok on overwatch if I play healer I'm usually a mercy main but back when she first came out, oh boy that's a story. I was playing on a team with no healer so I played mercy like normal but I was the only healer in a team filled with rude players. I try my best to support the team but we kept losing until my day one Brigitte came in. As soon as I swap I instantly became the target because I was doing so well. On the last game I single handedly took on the whole team, killed 4 and saved the game.

The difference is brawl was still playable, even against meta knight. Sure, he was unfathomably broken, but the game was still somewhat fun when playing as, or even sometimes against him. It was fun to outplay bad meta knights. With brig, it’s not fun to play as her, not fun to play with her, not fun to play against her, and not fun to kill her. She singlehandedly broke an entire game. The viewership drops when goats started being the only viable meta in owl are the most significant drops of viewership across any esport EVER. That thing is satan with a shield, and she frankly belongs at number 0, because she is in a class all on her own

I think Brig was the final nail in the coffin. OW was dying due to the lack of genuine concern over the state of the community. People rage reported others over character choice, false bans were given by an automated system with a farce of an appeal system, the developers openly stated adamance towards smurf accounts running rampant in lower ranks, etc. Streamers and other big names were treated like royalty, where they get away with toxic behavior that everyone else gets punished for and are able to force the developers to do something they want by threatening to stop streaming Overwatch. It’s a shell of the potential it had, and now no one thinks of it as an esport game anymore.

Brigitte killed playing reaper for me. It was pretty frustatin to try to do anything with reaper when you get stunned or knocked back everytime you try to flank.

@@Roka7 Bayo abilities were escapable but most players didn't SDI at all in 4. Esam made a video about how to escape actually. Then the nerfs happened and she kills much more normally now but regardless, much more comparatively powerful than the other characters within her game vs fox who isn't even necessarily the best character in melee.

I still remember the horrors of release brig. There was this one game she got nano boosted during her rally and my time threw 5 out of our 6 ults on her and she literally lived. She was able to stun sombra out of emp on reaction everytime. She was able to instalkill tracer every 4-5 seconds, stop any ult on reaction with her bash and her team wouldnt die at all during rally even with all of them being anti-naded. The flashbacks omg.

Sm4sh players were the dumbest bunch of idiots in history. They just wouldn't ban Bayo because they feared that people would stop attending tournaments.
When a top player comes down from his perch saying "Pfff ! I will not attend this event if my character is banned !" i'm just not buying it. For a lot of these top players, competing is their livelihood. They'll get mad, complain on twitter for a week or a month at most and then they'll just jump right back into the game with their secondaries as their main.
Like, i get that it's your favorite character but you are not the center of the world and between the community (and the meta) moving forward (and keeping interest in the game alive by not having the same character in 5 of the 8 spots of top 8) and flat-out killing the community/interest in the game (also killing your livelihood because if the interest in a game is at 0, there will be no more tournaments therefore no money). The choice is pretty easy to make imo.
I remember at EVO 2018, everybody knew that it was going to be Smash Wii U's last major tournaments because of two factors:
1): Ultimate was coming out in 5 months (as soon as it came out, it was like Smash4 never happened)
2): Interest in the game sunk to 0 because every one saw where the meta was going. Singles was all Bayonetta and Cloud had killed doubles. A Complete dead end. Even the commentators were like: "I can't wait for Ultimate to come out". Nobody wanted to deal with this bullshit anymore and yet, they just...let it happen.

In Destiny 2 there's an ability set called stasis that's centered around freezing enemies and creating ice crystals using grenades that can be used as cover or can be exploded to deal damage. For two of the three classes, there are ways of shattering the ice crystals such that they will instakill any enemy player nearby. For the record there are no other grenades in the game that can instakill an enemy. It just got patched somewhat a few days ago but I suspect that it will remain very powerful.

Let's not forget the most broken thing about Tekken 7 Akuma: his health. In the Street Fighter and Marvel games he appeared in, his insane damage output and utility was balanced by having pathetically low HP. In Tekken however, everyone has the same HP, including Akuma. Take away Akuma's only downside, and suddenly it's no wonder he's so busted.

Soul Calibur 4 Hilde definitely deserves a slot. She had a TOD ring out from anywhere on screen that could be initiated off 2 moves that were huge, fast, + frames on block (a rare luxury in SC games), AND worst of all had built in auto parry and evasion that would deflect an incoming attack and land your hit instead. You literally would just hold her charges and poke with kicks till you could land these combo starters as a reaction to the opponents attack or just throw it out safely and use the free frames to pressure. Playing against her in tournaments meant you could only try to land quick low damage pokes 15-20 times to ensure safety to not be auto parried int TOD. Once Hilde knew the TOD combo your only hard counter against her was stage selecting a non-RO stage.

The sniper class in Killzone 3 was probably the most broken class I have played. You had a one shot kill sniper rifle and the ability to stay invisible as long as you used silenced weapons. What made it super OP was the silenced machine pistol secondary.

Overwatch didn't die because Brigitte is OP, it died because Blizzard took too long to nerf her, she should've been nerfed to the ground and THEN given some buffs, but they were too scared of overnerfing her that she stayed broken for a long time. The game died because of that, much deserved so.
Yeah its a recurring theme with Blizzard they are always so scared to do anything to the heroes and it's one of the biggest reasons why a lot of people(including me) stopped playing

release patch Cummans in AOE2, they rule soloQ during the first month of DE, they were insane, and the community start to say that the Cummans were turning AOE2 into League of Legends, they were just insane, not only they have the unique ability to make an extra TC and start making rams one Age early, but they also have and incredibly scout rush, and have access to the Steppe Lancer, who were broken on release with they extra range
Jaeyun from the game Brawlhalla was released nearly 2 years ago, and when he got released, the game was quite literally unplayable for 3 or so months
Worst part about Meta Knight is that there was literally no counter to him. Nobody even went even with him, it's either losing or losing harder. Tier lists were essentially mk matchup charts.
Even against the second best character in the game, Ice Climbers, could do nothing against him. It was an actual strategy to stall in the air where they can't reach.
The thing I never understood was Brig was always gonna be broken since she was designed to counter a WHOLE META, not just one or two heroes. Why were they surprised people were gonna say she’s broken?

Lion in Siege was such a problem. He was super strong that he kept getting nerfed, but it wasn't enough. He was banned from the Pro League until he was reworked.
Actually kinda surprised the Ela (R6S) wasn’t on this list seeing as though she was a 3 speed op with the scorpion evo that had extremely high fire rate, a 50 round magazine and basically no recoil and had 4 Ice cream cones that disoriented anyone in there AOE when triggered

Even after the changes, the overall impact of Brig has ruined the game for me. More often heroes are released that just completely overshadow everything else because of how universal their kit is
The worst part about Brigitte isn't even any of the over tunned numbers or her busted kit. It's the fact that OW before her release had a lot of interesting and different team comps. Teams were running 3 dps 1 tank and 2 heals, and all different combination of heros. She single handedly made OW make the game 2 tanks 2 dps and 2 supports. Her purpose was to counter dive...but she literally countered everything in the game.

Aphelios was a result of some really _ass-backwards_ logic from Riot's design team: "OK, so this guy is by far the most complicated and unique champion in the game. He runs on entirely different mechanics to every other champion, to the point that he might as well be from an entirely different MOBA. So to justify how difficult he is to play, he has to be actually _literally OP_ when played to his full potential, because it's not like anyone is ever going to be able to put in the work necessary to actually master him, is it?" And then it turned out that not only, no, pro players would master Aphelios in short order, leading to him destroying the pro scene in every game he wasn't banned, but he was also completely busted just based on his ult+flamethrower combo being a classic "Press R to win" ability alone. So for months after his release it was just nerf-nerf-nerf-nerf-nerf-nerf until they FINALLY got him down to a level where he wasn't actually broken- and everyone promptly stopped playing him because he's still stupidly complex, but no longer worth the investment of effort.
Also most of that footage of "prerelease TF" isn't actually of the TF from the beta; it's mostly season 1. In the beta, TF's Gate WAS HIS E ABILITY, NOT HIS ULT. His ult was just Destiny- but as well as globally revealing all enemy champions, it also GLOBALLY SLOWED THEM. Strange that they didn't mention that.
