Hello. I recently picked up a power wheels car on the side of the road. It works but the wires seem to be crossed - reverse shifter goes forward and forward speeds 1 and 2 make it go in reverse. Would the fix be as simple as unplugging the two wire packs that go to the shifters and plug them back in the opposite slot? I tried to wiggle them out and it wasn’t easy and since I’m new to this I didn’t want to screw anything up.
One of the switches in the shifter is backwards. If you look at the plugs on the shifter and unplug one and rotate the plug 180° it may work. If it doesn't work put it back and try rotating the plug on the other switch 180° and that should fix the problem. Goodluck.👍
In my case my daughter's coworker sons Yamaha 700R had quit. They thought it was the battery. Replaced it, charged it. Still no go. Had no family or friends with abilities to tackle it. Hi, my daughter’s “Hello Kitty12 Volt “Eats and Treats” Sweet Food Truck” back wheel came off. As we were getting it to the house the wiring for the motor to move the wheel came apart. I was able to reconnect the wire but as the motors spin, I noticed a little spark once we stop pressing the pedal. Is this normal?
Sometimes the motor throws a spark or two when you press and depress the pedal. It is normal from the motor but not from anywhere else. If it sparks alot you may want to see about fixing that. You don't want any fires starting. Goodluck👍
Hello. I have a Power Wheels Suzuki 94 model 86570 ATV. I purchased used at a garage sale and after contacting Mattel I found out that it has been discontinued. I purchased a 12 volt SLA battery and used some 10 gauge wire with quick disconnect spade connectors and was able to get it running. My grandkids were happy. I connected the two red wires from each motor together with the white positive wire and the two blue wires from each motor together with the black negative wire, but after a few minutes of use it blows the 30 amp fuse that I installed inline on the positive wire. Hopefully you can add some insite so this will work. Do I need to install a 30 amp fuse per motor? Thanks in advance
Dear gadzuccs, As a authorized Mattel service center the only advice I can give you is to return it back to the original factory condition which would be potentially difficult being discontinued. If Mattel thought I was modifying Powerwheels they would pull my contract so fast my head would spin. You can still get lots of parts for it batteries, chargers and some other parts. I'm sorry I can't help you. I wish you luck.👍
I have an issue with my son's Jeep Hurricane power wheel. It was working fine but the stock battery was starting to not hold much charge so instead of getting another 12v battery, I got the DeWalt 20v adapter. Before everything worked (rev, slow speed, and fast speed). I cut the Two wires going to the battery and connected the adapter. But now, rev works but seems slow? , Slow speed doesn't do anything, and fast speed works but only spins one tire (rear passenger) so he has no traction in our yard, it just spins that one wheel really fast making ruts in the ground but won't spin the other tire like it used to do? Any idea what would cause that?
Yes. It has two motors and most likely one motor is burned out. The motors were designed for 12 volts and by using a 20 volt battery it probably burned one out. Lift up the back of the Jeep by putting some bricks under the body and see if only one wheel turns going forward and reverse. If only one turns then the one that does nothing is burned out or the wire going to that one motor broke. Goodluck.👍
I took the shifter out and disassembled the mechanism. The switches themselves ended up being fine but it was the mechanical part of the shifter that needed adjustment.

I just bought a frozen jeep, charged it as recommended and it doesn’t go. Been trying an hour and only twice it worked for a split second then stopped. Any suggestions? Battery is ok I believe and don’t see any connections lose
The battery can still be bad. You need the battery to put out about 13 volts and it needs to have at least 10 amps. If the battery is going bad the charger will still charge it to 12 volts but with the cells going bad the amps go down. You could also have a bad connection somewhere. If it's new don't mess with it you will void the warranty. Take it to a service center if it's new. If it's older then a year take the battery to a service center to be tested or a Battery Plus to be tested. I hope this helps. Good luck. You can call if you need more help. Sounds like a bad battery. When the battery starts to go bad the voltage can stay the same due to charging but the amperage starts to drop. The amps are what gives the volts the oomph. Think of it like water in a hose. The water is the electricity and it's in the hose but without pressure it has trouble getting out of the hose. Amperage=pressure. I hope this helps. There could still be a issue but the battery is most likely the issue. Goodluck👍
Hello sir! I have an issue with my daughter ride toy. When pressing gas pedal buzzing sound comes from 2 relay pcb boards. From battery there are 2 relay for each motor. Any idea what should I troubleshoot? Thanks!
That doesn't sound like anything I've encountered before. I'm pretty sure that is not a Fisher Price product that is who makes Power Wheels. It's very difficult to say without seeing the toy. The first thing I would check is the battery. I know you may have already checked that but if the amperage is low it can cause the relays to make a bit of noise. You can take the battery to a Battery's Plus and they can test the battery. You need a load tester to check amps. Most Ohms meter don't give you what you need. Next you can test the motors by connecting the battery directly to the motor terminals. Make sure the wheels are off the ground and secured. You don't want to have any accidents. Make sure your using at least 14 gage wiring. If you use inadequate wiring you can hurt yourself and may cause a fire. I highly recommend taking it to a service center. I hope this helps. Goodluck.
@@alloutbikes Thank you for your reply! And your suggestions! I did test the motors. Both are working just fine. Very good though….I will try to find the way to test for battery load ✌️! Thanks! The ride on toy is Mercedes SLR (2 door) CN1506027M
Mine got messed up where it started to only be able to go into first gear forward and the second gear got switched into reverse and then it started back to normal for a day but then forward stopped working and only reverse could be used but now it had stopped working completely but we don't have the money to get a new one. Got any tips? (same power wheels car as in the video)
That is an easy one. I had one do the same thing. A little bit of water got into the switches and overtime the switches went bad in the shifter. You need a new shifter.
Mine electrically doesn’t have any issues, however the steering is shot. It looks line the steering shaft presses against a plastic arc on the underside when you turn and that causes the wheels to thurn, but mine just rotates up and the wheels don’t move. Any ideas on how to fix this?
No. What your taking about sould not be possible. The steering rod goes through the frame and bends around and hooks into a metal tab that's not plastic. Either it's not installed properly or there is something seriously wrong. The other option is I'm not understanding your issue. You may want to contact Powerwheels or me and send pictures of the issue. I'm sorry that I can't help more right now. Goodluck👍
@@alloutbikes I am not the original owner, the one I have I picked up from the curb. I looked at it again earlier today. The steering rod has an “S” shaped bend that is positioned in a plastic channel and then, as you mentioned, the end of the rod feeds through the flat metal arm that connects the two front wheels. That channel/recess that the “S” bent portion of the steering rod rests in, is worn away. I’m assuming the previous owner initially installed it incorrectly because the rod isn’t entirely seated in the channel, it’s shallow and so with enough/repeated force the corner eventually wore away and now the rod has nothing to brace against in order to turn the wheels. I tried getting the steering rod to seat entirely recessed within that channel (so that it can properly brace against and turn the wheels without popping out) but then the end of the rod didn’t align with the slit in the flat metal arm connecting the wheels. I might see if I can follow and assembly guide to break down the car and rebuild it with everything aligned as intended
Got one of the green ones brand new. Battery is at 13.02 when you push the peddle there is a click at the battery and then another click maybe 2-3 seconds later like a relay is tripping but the sound is coming from the battery itself. Any ideas?
Yes. They got the wires crossed under your pedal. It is best to take it to a service center. The last one I worked on they crossed the red and orange? Wires. I didn't touch the white one. If you have a service center close to you take it to them. You don't want to mess up and cause damage to the Powerwheels. Goodluck.👍
Ok. Don't touch the wires. Take it to a service center the wires may not be installed properly and can cause the wires to overheat. It maybe ok but better safe then sorry.
So I have an electric trike, the battery was dead so I charged it, I’ve tested the battery and it’s fully charged and still good under a load, in both forward and reverse it only makes a rapid clicking sound, like a dead battery in a car, do you have any thoughts on what that could be or could you point me in the right direction for where to start looking for a fault?
We were replacing the rear wheel gearboxes on my nephews 12 volt fire truck with 2 new motors and gearboxes once it was all together we discovered one wheel goes forward and the other in reverse can you offer any advise on how to fix this issue
I have a 24v power wheel that works in reverse using the pedal and remote, but does not move forward using either. Any suggestions on what might be the problem? I would really appreciate your help.
I was working on a electric ride on toy. It was not a Power Wheel but neither is yours cause Power Wheels don't do a 24v or a remote version. Yours may be the same one that I was working on. The problem with this one was simple. The wire and clip was lose on the motherboard. Try making sure that the wires are good and snug. If not you may have a bad motherboard. Good luck.👍

I have the green model of the dune racer. Recently my son has told me that it would not go into reverse. I was watching him drive it tonight and only one wheel was spinning. I removed the back wheels and only one of the gears were spinning. I replaced the battery with a "fully charged" battery and then both gears would spin so I replaced both tires assuming it was fixed. But with either battery it doesn't go into reverse or the 1st speed, only the 2nd fastest speed and only one tire is spinning. Any help you can offer?
Thats an easy one. You have a burned out motor. Ninety nine times out of a hundred. The main motor burns out first. That motor does first gear and reverse. Unfortunately due to liability reasons (you can thank lawyers for this) we can only sell them if we install them. There are some aftermarket ones out there but I don't know if that's a good idea. Goodluck! I hope this helps.
@@alloutbikes it might be worth a shot to get my little man's ride up and going, he is lost without it. I've been scouring the internet to find the right part, you wouldn't happen to know off hand which part that is?
Hi, great video but I need some further help. Everything works on my kid's Dune Racer except when he is in it, it will stutter, like go and stop intermittently when the pedal is pressed. It doesn't do that if the back is lifted up and I'm just pressing the switch. Background: I had added another 12 V battery to make it 24. Used cheap wire from Amazon. The connections are secure but maybe the wire is no good? Or maybe it is just the switch?
I'm sorry I can't help you with out seeing it. It sounds like the pedal switch maybe going bad it was designed and tested for 12 volts not 24 volts. The same goes for the motors if you put to much into them the motor can go bad. Cheap wire can cause problems as well especially if its the wrong gauge. The best thing I can tell you as a certified service center is to return the Powerwheels back to its original condition and replace the pedal. I can't help with Powerwheels that have been modified because they will drop me as a service center. I hope you can figure it out. Thanks, Jason.
You look up the motor by the model number. Look online. Service centers are not allowed to sell the motor to you. We can sell to you if we install the motor. Sorry I missed your question.
Can you please help me with my son's cheap power Wheels hurricane for some reason it has two speeds in reverse and goes faster in reverse, and the forward is slow. I tried switching the wires around in the shifter itself and it didn't do anything.
Your wires are crossed. If it was here I would play with the wires and switches. If you wanted to keep it simple you could open the back and remove the axle and move the motor from right to left and the left to the right and that will change the direction so that you will have forward hi and low. I hope this helps. If the switches are backwards you can leave them plugged in and just rotate them 180°. Goodluck 🖖
Hello. I recently got a power wheels gtr90 for my kids, but it hasn't been a great experience thus far. For some reason, the vehicle moves well only in the 2nd gear. When in first or reverse, it hardly moves. Any help in trying to determine what might be wrong is greatly appreciated.
In first and reverse it goes through one motor. When your in second it goes through both motors. Your primary motor may be going bad. Then again of one wheel does not turn the power goes through to the other motor and the wheel may start spinning making it go nowhere. Most of the time its a bad motor. I hope this helps.
It sounds like the thermal switch is kicking in. If your kids are driving it through tall grass it can overheat the system and flip the switch. Small hills can do the same thing. I hope this helps. Thanks.
Put it in High lift up the back wheels and push the gas pedal if both wheels turn it's not a bad motor. Please be careful and not run yourself or others over doing this. If both wheels are turning your speed shifter is bad. There are two switches inside one has gone bad. You can't get the switches aftermarket (that I know of) you will have to get the whole thing. I hope this helps you. Thanks for watching!
@@alloutbikes FYI, if you are unable to get the bad switch, I have also been able to remove the DPDT toggle switches and carefully remove and clean the contacts, then reassemble. Some fine emery cloth works well to burnish the gold contacts and using a good shot of contact cleaner after the fact doesn't hurt either. If you can get the contact resistance down to less then half an ohm then they should work for a while (maybe as long as you need) without replacing. If the contacts are badly worn or pitted, then the switches need replacement. Since PW doesn't sell them to the public you can get them on Ebay or at Amazon.

@@alloutbikes thanks 👍
Any ideas?
So I got it actually moving now but it shuts of after pressing the peddle a couple of times.
Make sure that the amps under load match the amps on the battery. If the battery is good it has to be the control module. Goodluck.👍
Good information! Honest too, with regards to liability. Thank you! As an aside, you look and sound a lot like Isaac on carsandcameras, any relation?
That's my brother. Sorry to have taken so long to answer.
We were replacing the rear wheel gearboxes on my nephews 12 volt fire truck with 2 new motors and gearboxes once it was all together we discovered one wheel goes forward and the other in reverse can you offer any advise on how to fix this issue
Easy one of the motors wires are reversed. Find the wheel going in the wrong direction and flip the wires on the one motor. I hope this helps.
Thank you, this helps so much
I have a 24v power wheel that works in reverse using the pedal and remote, but does not move forward using either.
Good luck.👍
@@alloutbikes where would the mother board be located?
Hello I am in goldsboro nc
We have a real tree utv 24 volt. I have replaced the battery and really don’t know how to check anything else. If you can help I will listen and try
Best Choice Ride On is who makes that I believe. We have had the worst time working with that company. Every time we called the company they were more concerned that we send them prof of purchase then help with fixing it. So far the computer has been the culprit second to a bad battery. 1-844-948-8400 is the number for customer service. I'm very disappointed in Best Choice Product's customer service. I hope this helps at least a little bit. Goodluck on your project and thank you for checking out the video.
Need some help! Started with the motors and OHMing them out. Last video I seen said it should be around .05 and I was getting readings much much higher. I direct connected the motor to the battery (tested at around 12.7votlts) and I could hear the motor want to engage but the car goes nowhere. Any ideas? My guess is the motor but I honestly know just what I've been you tubing. Also, aren't you on another channel, like cars and cameras where you make badass gocarts??? You look so damn familiar
Edit: Isaac! Itll be fine!!!!!!!
Sounds like you found the problem. If you tested the battery and it's got good amps and connected the battery to the motor and it didn't work the motor is probably bad. Isaac is my brother on CarsandCameras.👍
Awesome vid!
I have a hot wheels power wheels rally car im having trouble getting power to I've checked the battery is fine under load now I need to go through everything else
@@alloutbikes I appreciate the help!
Not offhand. Sorry.
I would have to have more information.
@@alloutbikes Thanks! I appreciate your input.
Hi I'm located in goldsboro. Is your shop still up and running? I have 2 that stopped working and I just don't have the time to mess with them.
We are open. Not planning on going anywhere.👍
I need to replace a motor in my power wheels jeep... how do I know which motor to buy?
You look up the motor by the model number. Look online. Service centers are not allowed to sell the motor to you. We can sell to you if we install the motor. Sorry I missed your question.
I got 12 volts on each terminal on both motors when referencing to ground
How many amps?
Can the motor be replaced or fix? What place can I go to get this fix. I have the green one and it runs slooow
I have a Prego rzr 900 it will go 10to 12 ft then stop wait a minute and it will do the same thing over and over
It sounds like the thermal switch is kicking in. If your kids are driving it through tall grass it can overheat the system and flip the switch. Small hills can do the same thing. I hope this helps. Thanks.
I have this exact power wheel I bought it brand new and it won't reverse
Omg I just got my boys one and I don’t know why it’s not working
"itll be fine"
Please work on your audio.you have such a great advice but it is hard to hear what is being said. Otherwise wonderful show
