Great tutorial on RTT. I need to start tuning this way. Especially cause gas is super expensive right now. When I started tuning, I would affect change to the cell / cells that I saw issues with. Then use the smoothing functions / buttons to even it out. However, the surface of the graph wasn't smooth. I have a tuner friend that told me the graph needs to be smooth. As the computer doesn't just use the cell it's in to calculate the fuel. Additionally the tune will do really weird things when the throttle is dynamic (PCM is moving across graph). It uses the surface / surrounding cells. I'm sure you already know this, but you may like to affect change to the cells above and to the sides when logging / tuning... Then smooth the graph and repeat the log. Otherwise you'll end up with cells that are really high, and a rough VE graph. It'll get harder and harder to tune fuel in process until the graph is smoothed out. Probably you already know that, however, I don't see many tutorials on RUclips mentioning smoothing the VE graph / fueling.
Thanks for sharing. Do you have a video on how to setup the truck/HpTuners to keep the PCM in Open Loop for tuning? I'm a novice with HP Tuners with a 5.3l Jeep YJ. Thanks again.
@@christopherfeid1627 this page basically has the procedure for forcing the computer into open loop: www.hptuners.com/help/vcm_editor_tuning_how_to_user_sd.htm but I'll still try and make a video soon showing exactly how I did it on my truck.
I am running HP Tuners RTOS now. Unfortunately, I never had anybody to drive for me so I didn't tune fuel with it... I'm curious though, can a person tune spark real time? That would be SUPER helpful. I want to log miles per hour versus injector pulse width to get an idea of my spark changes on gas mileage. I also think if you get closer to Max Break Torque (ideal timing) the fuel consumption should be at it's lowest...
matthew williams in my case I’m using a 3 bar Speed density only tune so I don’t have long term and short term fuel trims. You’re right though you would want to disable ltft and stft while getting the VE table dialed in.
@@exploringgodscountry thanks! I just subscribed to your channel as well... someday I'd like to create a "Lowbuck Adventure" channel and do content similar to yours. Cheers!
thanks for the subscribe@@LowbuckLS !! I really appreciate it. You have some of the best tuning info on RUclips. I should put together some info on how to explore / hike on the cheap :) I think it would go over well. Where you at in Canada? I used to live in Brockville Ontario (not far from Kinston).
HP Tuners staff said in a comment there's no way they're gonna ever do it to 4th gen. SUX, I really wanted to tune my spark for best torque. Makes me wonder why they were so against it. Maybe it was hard for them to unlock.
Hi nice video I was wondering what afr gauge you are using. I saw on their website they said it had to be a certain type and I wasn’t sure which one to get.
Cam Firkus yeah I’m not sure what caused that, might have been cause I hadn’t tuned my idle airflow yet. Now that I’ve changed cams and done some idle airflow tuning I’m sitting in the 55-65 percent range at idle I think.

Christopher Feid I don’t currently have a video that shows that but I could probably make one.
If you don't mind... or could you point me to another document that shows how to do so?

So my question is... if you keep adding fuel to your ve table there then isnt it going to mess with your LTFT and STFT?

Thanks for the sharing sir
When using RTT OS I assume you still disable closed loop, DFCO, and COTS in the tune before logging data?
Yes all of that still needs to be done.
@@LowbuckLS awesome thanks for replying so fast. I watch a lot of your videos of the MOST insightful on RUclips for tuning!

Wish real time tuning was avaliable for gen 4

You need to tune your laptop fans 😂 jk good info and good video!
I was trying this and when i open the rtt and hit the arrow everything freezes. Any suggestions?
is that an expensive program?
what size injectors
Hi nice video I was wondering what afr gauge you are using. I saw on their website they said it had to be a certain type and I wasn’t sure which one to get.
how do you do this with out a wideband?
80+ percent ve at idle? Somethings not right.
Unless the numbers change drastically when you use a 3 bar os?
Cam Firkus yeah I’m not sure what caused that, might have been cause I hadn’t tuned my idle airflow yet. Now that I’ve changed cams and done some idle airflow tuning I’m sitting in the 55-65 percent range at idle I think.
@@LowbuckLS Yes something was seriously wrong. While you showed how it works, that was an issue outside the VE table causing that.
