Just to chip in: I'm trying to create red, white, and yellow corners. I'm using Rudbeckia L Herbstsonne at the back. Also Patrinia scabiosifolia, Sanguisorba Crimson Queen, Delphinium Pacific Giant mixed, Veronicastrum Alba, and Eupatorium Riesenschirm, not forgetting Miscanthus Sinensis. Saw them towering like flags in Great Comp and was very impressed. Once, I had a tall Inula. It was so tall that I could never see the flowers. Those double decker bus passengers passing by my front garden might have a better view than me. In the end, it was a hell of a job getting rid of the giant roots. Thank you for the timely video again. Just so happened that I have been trying to hunt for tall architectural plants. Next year, I will have Summer Drummer Allium!
Wow they are all absolutely beautiful but I have never seen any of them in my many garden centre visits. Is there a supplier that you could recommend please
Lovely informative video . I wonder if you might consider doing an entire video on “transparent” plants. I’m fairly new to gardening generally and trying gradually to sort out my mixed border . I hadn’t really thought about this until seeing you demonstrate this with the stipa.
Really interesting set of plants question my wife as brought me a Roscoe scillifolia pink form can't find. Anything on how to propagate this plant if you have the time to answer that would be great thanks for your time and help 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Once again, really great information. My newish [to me] garden is pretty dinky but some of my neighbours have teeny tiny gardens. I was looking for plants that grow tall but don't cast a lot of shade because much of what I do affects them, so this was fantastic for me!
Question- I love the Stipa but does it send out runners or become invasive? Thanks for these brilliant videos, have a list of things I want in my garden now!
Not runner, but they clump up very nicely if you grow it near to a slab, and south and / or east west facing. Must admit I divided it and yet, most of them died.
