  • I found this video on an old computer recently and never uploaded it in the past... It is a narrated flight where I describe what I do... It is not for beginners, it is for experienced reverse-start experts who know the status of their glider and how to properly tie-in for a reverse start. In summary a fool-proof routine before leaving the ground. It is also in very windy conditions (which is why the layout of the glider is soooo pooor!!!). Please note that under these conditions I took a long, very long look (reverse start sei Dank) before take-off. The camera is mounted on my chest so you cannot see my head movements....

The conditions were perfect for doing a 300% glider check prior to take-off (3x complete line and form review). This comes from tons of ground handling and packing your glider well in the prior landing. I also use a carabiner to connect the the downcomers together immediately after removing them from the harness (after previous landing). This ensures that regardless of what happens there is less chance of things getting twisted/mixed after landing (described in another upcoming video I discovered).
It is realized that there may be tons of critics of this start so keep it decent please. The pilot must know what risks they face when flying as well as to others in the air. Without a 100% confidence in prestart checks and situational awareness I simply will break-off a start! After hundreds of hours ground handling and flying there was no doubt as well as a chance to break-off the start.
Any constructive comments are welcome. Stubai is an awesome experience, especially on days like this flight...
Oh, and finally... If you follow my other videos, this is the first one I have posted where you can here my voice, the excitement and passion for this sport as well as the sheer joy of flying with a few kilos of nylon and string...
    Kindest and regards!
