jk i do research for a lot of my videos
point is though, i wanted to make sure that all of these songs i thought of actually classify as punk pop / rock, and they all do 😃
it can range from soft rock such as fairytale by dreamcatcher or youth by kihyun to hip hop rock like volkno by treasure or blessed cursed by enhypen. but all of the songs in this video still classify as rock regardless. and then punk pop is pretty self explanatory, like pop punk stands out as a genre on its own.

specific reason why I listen to black eye by vernon a lot. the song just out 4 days ago but I’m obsessed. because it brings me back to early 2000s. like my inner avril just popped.

Xdinary heroes deserve more attention. They have really good music. Their debut was one of the best in 4gen. I really want them to have a bright future. The think I can't understand is why jyp is not pushing them like they are pushing nmixx.
I think because jyp favoured the girl groups more they did the same with skz people started to notice them when gods menu came out before that people called them a flop group
I think it’s because their lyrics are a bit ehh- like their debut song. The instruments and vocals and visuals were great but the lyrics and cringe concept sort of ruined it for me. Also don’t get me started on the laughs in the song… I honestly prefer strawberry cake. Just my personal opinion tho…

@@jvliawo a lot of groups have pretty cringe lyrics and concepts tbh and most of them get a lot of attention. I don't think that's the problem with xdinary heroes, i think their music is unique and too niche for the general public.
Xdinary Heroes at least has the advantage that they are in jyp and had day6 before them. They already get more attention then allot of the other bands in the industry.
xdinary heroes released one of the best albums this year with their first mini album!
My favorite Dreamcatcher's punk rock songs : Chase Me (Debut Song), Goodnight, Mayday, Tension, The Curse of the Spider , and Scar. But I love all their songs with EDM, Metal, Pop genres...
There's also Endless night, that screams rock/punk
I find it criminal that No Celestial by LE SSERAFIM is not on this list, but I absolutely love this list and the pop punk genre in Kpop in general 😊

Seventeen's "Rock With You" and Ten's "Paint Me Naked" are some of my favorites, if you don't count the obvious songs by k-bands 😂

(Just a random rant) People complain about wanting to see more rock on kpop and then don't support idols that do more rock concepts/music, and just ignore the whole korean indie music industry, like if you want more actual rock in korean idol companies aren't the place to look, go look to smaller companies and more indie groups, like Ste, uni, Touched, Purple Rain or SNAKE CHICKEN SOUP, but no, if groups won't go to variety shows, perform on programs, have albums for international fans with goodies or have an comeback every 4 months they don't care... Nothing bad with just listening to idols groups, but when they complain about something they want and ignore the groups that do that type of music just makes me kind of mad....

as a rock lover and as someone who started to diversify with j-rock, i'm really obsessed with xdinary heroes, day6, yena and dreamcatcher. of course as moa i feel blessed by how txt's music turned out to be in 2021 haha!
It was the opposite for me lol. I first got into k-rock by listening to day6 and ft island, and I loved it. However, I felt I needed heavier rock songs so I got into jrock. I love both so much, they are v different.

We need to talk more about Day6. "Sweet Chaos" is pure punk rock in my opinion. Don't forget about "Love Me or Leave Me", "Blood", "Wanna Go Back", "I Wait", "Dance Dance", "What Can I Say", "Healer", "I Need Somebody" and many more...

I agree sm, the creator of this video should def make a part two with truly rock sound. No hate to these songs(I listen to a lot of them) but I feel they are more pop orientated. Obviously though, because they are pop groups who specialize in pop making “rock” songs.

Right! It was weird not to see them here as they were basically the root of k rock (especially ft island). I would’ve liked to see cherry filter and loveholic too! Also as a day6 stan, I was disappointed not to see day6’s sweet chaos, I wait, I need somebody, or any other song really.
@@jvliawo Yes exactly!! I feel like nowadays, the "classics" are easily forgotten by the newer gens. They have amazing music too, but there's just so much more in kpop and it would've been amazing to see them.

It's weird because I despise like metal rock songs, but some of my favourite K-pop songs are rock based like Red(The rose), strawberry cake(xdinary heros) and shoot me (day6)
I think it's because the rose and day6's music is a soft kind of rock and it doesn't sound like metal rock
For xdinary, it's not metal rock neither but im not sure of the genre
Because those are more pop/soft rock and not metal. It is also based around kpop which has a specific sound. Compare it to like Radiohead or nirvana and there’s a notable difference.
those are light rock / pop rock songs who are different from regular rock who are different from hard rock/metal who are also different than pop punk. A lot of people confuse pop punk with light rock. Day6 does light rock, while songs like Tomboy is more pop punk
It’s not weird at all, actually. Metal is a very specific type of genre, and none of the songs you mentioned (nor any in this video) would fall under that category. Personally, I like most types of rock - however metal, especially very heavy metal, is not one I’m a huge fan of.

yessss rock in kpop is my absolute favorite! This was an amazing selection of songs, there's a few in here that i actually haven't heard so thank you! i added them to my playlist right away (shameless self-promo/recommendation, i have a playlist in spotify called "K-pop Rockers!" where i have all the rock-infused kpop songs i could find, but only from groups/soloists, since there are a lot of playlists out there dedicated to k-bands already)
In my opinion really the only punk orientated groups are xdinary hero’s and rolling quartz. All the other groups are just pop punk or soft rock. Kpop still has that Kpop sound and personally as a rock fan I wouldn’t consider this full blown punk. It’s still rock but it’s more like panic at the disco

you would be correct! a lot of people just don't know the difference between rock, light rock, metal, and punk. Most of those examples aren't even punk, but light rock. A pop punk record would be something like Jhopes new album.

I LOVE what SVT and TXT does with pop rock genre from time to time. SVT still does pop rock like their recent Japanese release but I want TXT to do it more since their pop rock era was my fav till now (Along with Eternity era).
