Wow very useful! The 200 IM is very difficult for me, I am bad at distance, but this may help me improve! I actually have a 200 IM in a swim meet next month
Good analysis splitting each stroke into % contribution as a whole. But I don’t agree that your “one rule example of Hosszu & Lochte” featured applies to every IM swimmer! Your analysis is good for working out where improvements can be made.
@ Heyyy! The meet was ok.. I did very mediocre in the 200 Free(they took me out of the 2 IM or something i forgot) but I have the 200 free again next weekend and i’m definitely gonna PB!! I PBd in my other events tho haha
Well I'm pretty content, I've been unknowingly following all of these steps this past summer. And it HAS worked! Last year I got a depressing 3:10 in scy (I basically just began swimming competitively then), but right now 1 week before a swim meet I'm getting 2:31s back to back in practice. I've been mainly focusing on fly and free as I'm a backstroker and breaststroker, but I have been working on sprints and turns for every stroke consistently. The only problem I really have is that I'm stuck on what type of back to breast turn I want to do. I don't want to get a DQ, but I don't want to be slow. What do ya'll recommend?
Hi Sasha! The workout in this video is in the IM category. Tap IM > scroll down through workouts, and look for a workout called 200 IM Special. Please email support@myswimpro.com if you have any other questions!
Everyday after practice rinse them in soap and cold water for a minute. If yoy have chlorine proof technology you don't have to take care of it after practice that frequently.
I started swimming competitively through summer swim club last year and I am now 14. I consider myself somewhat of a sprinter, but have been told that I have potential in 200IM and I was wondering what you think my goal time should be. (I swam 200IM once my first year and went 2:44 (31,42,49,39) But my speed and endurance have improved drastically since then.) These are all of my current best times: 50 Fly - 27.7 100 Fly - 1:03 50 Back - 31.5 100 Back - 1:14 (Haven't swam it in a while...) 50 Breast - 33.0 100 Breast - 1:13 50 Free - 25.5 100 Free - 1:02 (Also haven't swam it in a long time.) All SCM Times btw.
I had my lesson today. My instructor says that my breast stroke is more or less perfect. Now I am working on freestyle and rolling over and back again. 😊 Learning to swim is a huge step forward in self-improvement.
I know you probably wont respond to this since this video is quite old, but I have a 21.1311% free 26.2295% backstroke 28.6885% breaststroke 23.7705% Freestyle, with a 54-53s 100 fly, 54s 100back, 1:02s 100 breast, and a 50s 100 free, (scy) and a 2:01 in the 200im, I cannot seem to drop time at all in the 200im, I'm consistently dead by the 50 breast, i've been to 4 meets and gained time on it every swim, while dropping time in everything else. I don't know if i'm training wrong or maybe I have a mental barrier blocking me? maybe im pacing it wrong? I'm 15 and my coach doesn't really seem to want to help me fix this, as he'd have to work practices around me
Probably better to improve your 200 paces for the 200 IM. Lochte's 200 IM 50 paces are: Fly pretty much same for leadoff in 200 fly, back about same for 2/3/4th 50s in 200 back, free almost 1.5 seconds slower than final 50 in 200 free
Interesting analysis! While the 200 IM is a little different since a swimmer is switching up the strokes every 50 and getting a little bit of a muscle reset, the best training tip may be just to practice sprinting while tired :)
@FaresKsebati Well, sprinting would be maximum efforts of 6-20 seconds but that doesn't really address technical improvements needed to increase efficiency at a 2+ minute effort. Not really the same energy provisioning either. It would be really tough for 400IM training to use the 200 paces since we are getting into very aerobic systems at that point. I think we can look at 5 distinct stroke speeds you can assess and train: sprint, 100, 200, 200IM, 400IM

I come back to your videos a couple hours before my races
Me watching before my 200im event 😳

Glad it was helpful, Rose! Good luck and have fun at your meet :)
Haha. I circle swim even when I have the lane to myself.

Hi 👋
Currently im 2:17 scy trying to get to 2:13 to get the state secondary cut
Can you make a video for 25 meter short course
Great analysis and mitigation plan, master the 100s, I love that notion
Thanks for tuning in, Bob! Happy 200 IM swimming :)
Great stuff...congratulations!
Glad you enjoyed it, Tomas! Happy swimming :)
I’m OK at all the 100’s except for the 100 butterfly. Can you help me, Fares?
hi
The 200 IM was my favorite event primarily because of all the factors that go into swimming the best performance possible.
Great video!
Totally agree! So fun to watch! Thanks for tuning in :)
I love the IM
You and me both! Happy swimming :)
This was very helpful thanks!
So glad to hear that, Alice! Happy swimming :)
How do you do the math on this to get the percentages for the IM splits?
i’m hoping this helps with my meet in like 2 weeks, i have anxiety and i it’s all i think about right now
lol
Howd it go? Also the same things happens to me! I’m anxious weeks before the meet even is here!
@ Heyyy! The meet was ok.. I did very mediocre in the 200 Free(they took me out of the 2 IM or something i forgot) but I have the 200 free again next weekend and i’m definitely gonna PB!! I PBd in my other events tho haha
@jjleahthefishy nice, good luck next week!
Your videos are very cool. What kind of camera do you use to record?
The GoPro Hero 8!

Those who watching this Comment they always stay happy😊
Thanks !
You too.
@Edwinkingue 😊
@Edwinkingue welcome bro
So where do we find these custom workouts, Fares? Can't find them in the app!

How can I/how often should I wash my swimming suit so it is durable?
Everyday after practice rinse them in soap and cold water for a minute. If yoy have chlorine proof technology you don't have to take care of it after practice that frequently.
Everyday after practice, wash them off with water then let air dry.
@kabes1776thank you!
@wcsmith0888 I was always squeezing my swimming suit... Thank you.

50fly is insanely good
Omg that’s good
Fr you should try to get a 2:30 or 2:25
Yeah, I'm thinking 2:25 is a realistic goal for end of summer considering I just recently went 26.9 and 30.0 in fly and back.@yihongli5805

Houszu ? Really?
But at least you pronounce her name correctly, which is much more difficult than writing 6 letters correctly. 😉
Hosszú!
So this whole video is just an ad, right?
Why?
