7 years after you wrote your comment, i agree ! he takes the time to show the sounds without talking. I was feeling like being in the 60' with the nice pedal. This video makes me wanna get it.
Regarding the "no volume control" at 9:10. Flint absolutely has a boost or volume cut setting. It's just one of the hidden settings that can be accessed via holding both buttons down. You can also change the order of the effects that way, and some other things.
someone else mentioned this is the best flint demo on the web and I agree. I feel like the sound is clear, it’s well explored, and the pedal sounds awesome. others have bad sound, bad playing, or they don’t really know how to use the pedal. great stuff.
This is BY FAR the best demo on this amazing pedal. I just bought one because of this demo. I have not received it yet so can’t say much more except you nailed it for me. This pedal is going to make me sound awesome !!! After a beer 2......😉🎶😜
First time listening to your videos. But I just wanted to say that every time you began playing something, it sounded like the beginning of a great song to be made. Your playing is very tasteful, unpredictable like a good book; each phrase leaves you guessing what you will play next and the pedal backed you up all the way. Thank you for not having a 13 minute video of pentatonic blues runs, although that's always great too when needed.
I just bought this pedal for my acoustic rig and it sounds amazing. I am running two pickups (K&K Pure Mini for the acoustic tone , then a Fishman Blackstack to) i am running FX on the Magnetic pickup and it sounds gorgeous !! Love this pedal. Great Demo
I can match this pedal to the trem on my 64 Super Reverb, but the Super can’t get as slow or intense and throbbing as the Flint, which is where it really stands out. And I actually prefer the ‘61 harmonic trem to the amp’s tremolo. I’d say the 60s reverb setting is also nearly indistinguishable. Great demo.
I have watched this video more than once. I love my flint but forget its power and this video reminds me about its fun settings as well as how powerful it can be
Check out Electro Harmonix's Oceans 12 pedal for drippy surf reverb. Not only can it drip, but it has a 'spring kick' where the pedal reacts as if it was a spring tank that got kicked. Far more options than this and it costs less too.
David Walker depends how you want the pedal to interact with your delay repeats. If you put it after delay the delay repeats will be affected by the tremolo, put it before and the repeats will be unaffected
Isn't that clipping I hear throughout the video whenever you play with slightly harder attack? Ex: 4:07 Maybe you're running your interface too hot. I'm a noob so I could be wrong.
So is ring mod to trem what flanger is to chorus? Just curious, I realized today I’m not educated on ring modulation. I know what it looks like in a schematic but can’t tell you what it IS or what it sounds like. I gotta catch some YT videos.
It sounds great,I have a Big Sky. One issue with Strymon,at least my Big Sky is with only -3db of cut(Line6 and Eventide have -20db or more cut available)is that by going full wet with long trails the volume get's way too loud(trails stack up much more than 3db).Bummer,Strymon seems all done with firmware revisions.
Deco/Flint combo is an awesome setup. Using the Wide Stereo Mode on the Deco would provide a stereo signal to the Flint (if internal TRS Stereo jumpers are set) which will maintain this separation for the dry signal when the Flint is both bypassed and engaged. However, when the reverb on the Flint is engaged, the processed reverb effect from either side (LEFT or RIGHT) is sent to BOTH outputs regardless of which input received the signal =]
It still will maintain the stereo signal, just when you use the reverb from the Flint, the reverb effect is sent to both outputs. The deco signal will still be split into left and right
Is this plugged directly into the amp from the guitar? Or are you running it through any other equipment? What's the amp being used? And yes I agree this is a great demo
I have a Flint also and notice a really annoying high pitched ringing on the spring sound at certain settings. is this normal/anyone else experienced this? drives me nuts
Hello! Thank you for your demo! I’m thinking about getting this pedal, but I am worried about the perceived volume loss when using the tremolo. How noticeable is it in person? Thanks
This pedal sounds so good! Too bad about the price...though, it’s a close call being a two-in-one? Not the same, but the EHX Oceans 11 hits many of these “notes”. If the Trem section of the O11 had Harmonic mode, I would say it had the Flint beat? Still want this pedal 🥺
Sonic Warfare Still using the O11, but use the Reverb plus Tremelo most of the time, or just the Plate setting. Would be nice to be able bring them both in together, or loose the Tremelo? May have to try and send some pedals down the line, and pick up a Strymon?
@@druwk The O11 is a pretty great pedal, very versatile. The Strymon is completely different. It's not as versatile, but what it does is amazing. I actually played it through a deluxe reverb when I first bought it and ABed the tremolo and spring with the amps tube loaded spring and trem, they sounded close to identical. If you use many different reverbs, the O11 is the better option. If you use a lot of tremolo, plus just classic reverbs, the Strymon is awesome.
Sonic Warfare in retrospect, I wish I had just bought the Strymon first! I have spent over $300 on other pedals that don’t do what I want? I am really more about the “Vintage” vibe. Have toyed around with the more esoteric settings, but ultimately, I want to concentrate primarily on playing my guitar as a guitar. I have been working up my lead playing, but I am also a singer, so I can’t pull off setting up crazy textures for specific sections. Trying to move to K.I.S.S. I guess this is a case of, if you want to spend the least amount of money on gear, buy the expensive gear that you want first. Thanks for the review, and experience.
@@druwk The good thing about music gear is it usually retains its value. If the pedals you aren't using still work fine, you can make most of your money back by selling them. See how much you can get for them on Reverb or locally. For me, I live in the middle east and most of my gear is from aboard, so I can actually profit from selling locally (for example a Mexican fender costs more here than an American would in the states). Check the market, save up,
+Eric sin sinner Thanks for the repply. Can you tell me how can I use those switches to have more volume? I do not know how to have more volume, is some kind of combination? I do not see a knob to the volume.
+Rui Serrabulho they have a downloadable manual on their site but very simply holding down both foot switches and then moving either the mix or the intensity from left to right decreases increases the level of the associated effects
+Eric sin sinner Thanks once more. Can make you another question? I was thinking in buying the El Capistan. Should I put the El Capistan before or after the Flint on the chain? My chain is guitar to Tc Eletronics Polytune to Death by audio war fuzz to zvex factory 7 to Pharaoh Supreme Fuzz to zvex double rock to boss blues driver to catalinbread sabbra cadabra to boss dd7 to strymon flint to amp.
+Rui Serrabulho as a general rule delay before reverb unless you're doing some crazy Ambient stuff. I think you'll really be impressed with the El cap i'm not into dark delays at all and it's not anywhere near as dark as a typical analog delay and to me it's more impressive than the flint
That was the worst sounding demo of 'Miserlou' I have ever heard. Not your playing Ryan, just the total lack of 'surf drip' from this pedal. No thanks. I'll stick with my Boss FRV, Total Spring by Source Audio and Tre Verb by Fender.
Strymon Flint: Come for the 60s Spring, stay for the 80s ambiance...
same here..
the best Flint demo in youtube.
Thanks! Tell strymon, lol
=P
This interaction is yet another reason why the gear community is the best
Common for this channel to have some of the best demos around!

Sure can. I have a Flint and love it
someone else mentioned this is the best flint demo on the web and I agree. I feel like the sound is clear, it’s well explored, and the pedal sounds awesome. others have bad sound, bad playing, or they don’t really know how to use the pedal. great stuff.
Been through several verb and trem pedals in recent years, avoiding this one BUT I finally gave in and got a used one and I like it a lot.
This is BY FAR the best demo on this amazing pedal. I just bought one because of this demo. I have not received it yet so can’t say much more except you nailed it for me. This pedal is going to make me sound awesome !!!

You like it??
This pedal is so dope! Love this style of playing too. God dang your fingers r blessed with surfy ,spytone, atmospheric goodness. Rock on brotha!

Thanks! I typically play my own riffs and songs because I'm not good enough to nail famous riffs. ;-)
Best demonstration of this pedal on RUclips
I just bought this pedal for my acoustic rig and it sounds amazing. I am running two pickups (K&K Pure Mini for the acoustic tone , then a Fishman Blackstack to) i am running FX on the Magnetic pickup and it sounds gorgeous !! Love this pedal.
Great Demo
I'm debating between this and a surfybear metal. This is more versatile and practical, but the surfybear is just cool af
I want this pedal so bad! Thanks for the demo!
I bought this pedal based on this video. It's amazing thanks!

What a great demo! Thank you!
I’m a big fan, especially the ‘61 harmonic trem & ‘60’s reverb combo!
Just bought this based off your review. All that Chris Issak, Messer Chups goodness coming my way :)
You mean James C Wilsey.
Best Flint demo out there
I have watched this video more than once. I love my flint but forget its power and this video reminds me about its fun settings as well as how powerful it can be
Bought one after watching this demo. Good job.
One of the best pedals ever made.
Based on this demo I'm going to pick pone of these up this weekend! Exactly what I've been looking for in one package. Awesome!
Such a good demo. I am frothing the surf rock vibes on this. Subscribed now for sure!!!!

Hey Ryan,
hope you are well.
It's time to check the V2 Flint for some Drip! You are the only one who may find it.
Honestly that's the best Flint demo video I've seen.
El Capistan, pretty please?
+Cole Duke tell Strymon to send me one and ill demo it! lol
Buy one you wont regret it!
Eric Filsinger agreed
Like it a lot, its better sounding than 98% of similar box pedals...I would get one if were half the price .
Great demo, thanks! I want this to be my next pedal.
Penetration!, Hey have a question, if you use it with a Delay, put it after the delay (Delay > Trem > Reverb)?
David Walker depends how you want the pedal to interact with your delay repeats. If you put it after delay the delay repeats will be affected by the tremolo, put it before and the repeats will be unaffected
Great demo. Thanks!

I could listen to this demo all day.. Is there a Pandora station with just reverby guitar music?
surf
Search for post rock. lot's of reverby guitar in post rock stuff.
Thanks, very helpful!
Seen the video and bought the pedal. Wow. Now I need the Ola and el Capistan 😁😁😁
Stop selling me stuff, Ryan. This is on my marketplace, now i have no choice.

Well done would love one, to go with my Deco, wonder what STEREO would add?

+Strymon Matt so you're saying stereo signal is not maintained when the reverb is engaged? I thought the reverb side maintained analog dry through?
+Strymon Matt by the way I did get a flint and the El cap.
It still will maintain the stereo signal, just when you use the reverb from the Flint, the reverb effect is sent to both outputs. The deco signal will still be split into left and right
The tremolo side seams to maintain the stereo signal too.
Is this plugged directly into the amp from the guitar? Or are you running it through any other equipment? What's the amp being used?
And yes I agree this is a great demo
Josh Bredahl direct into a Princeton reverb ri.
I have a Flint also and notice a really annoying high pitched ringing on the spring sound at certain settings. is this normal/anyone else experienced this? drives me nuts
Turn the color knob down. the color knob is just the tone of the reverb trails so turn to the right the trails or reverb sound will be high
8:25 you're a genius
I need one.
Vermona-style knobs, hell yeah!
Is that a tele you are playing?
Hello! Thank you for your demo! I’m thinking about getting this pedal, but I am worried about the perceived volume loss when using the tremolo. How noticeable is it in person? Thanks
virtually no volume loss
Where have I heard that sound? 7:48
Like a western or Kill Bill vibe
Riff at 1:55?
Considering flipping my True Spring and Hall of Fame 2 for this. What say you?
I’ll trade you the one I just bought for those. I think for my taste I would like the true spring better.
This pedal sounds so good! Too bad about the price...though, it’s a close call being a two-in-one? Not the same, but the EHX Oceans 11 hits many of these “notes”. If the Trem section of the O11 had Harmonic mode, I would say it had the Flint beat?

I have both... I never use the O11 anymore

Tastily done.
6:18 - Jackpot. 😭
Would have liked to hear the Tremolo without the reverb on all the time.
Dear, If you think about it, in my Fender amp for example, reverb is always, always on.
wow
Wish it went a tad faster
There is no place else to go for a reverb or trem demo
Lynxtail
Cortez The Killer?
I have Flint in the end of my chain but the volume of the sound is very low compared to the other pedals, why?
Both sides have a secondary level control, did you buy it new?
+Eric sin sinner Thanks for the repply. Can you tell me how can I use those switches to have more volume? I do not know how to have more volume, is some kind of combination? I do not see a knob to the volume.

ha sexy tremelo
What is the song at 0.53 in fact can anyone name all the licks?
Guitar and amp your using there? Maybe it said and I missed it.
Princeton reverb RI, don't remember the guitar; either a hallmark swept wing or my fat strat
9 hearing aids required
6 people have no ears

The drip is awfull on the Flint. Prefer the drip of surfybear pedals, with a real spring reverb tank
