- "Kenny Walker is being punished for some reason by Larry Bird, I don't know why, he's a nice guy"
47/8/7/4 on 22/34 shooting. the video quality was bad enough to begin with and got even worse when I uploaded it on here.
Ahh, another Bird single game video that leaves me shaking my head in amazement half a dozen times. Legend is most fitting nickname ever. Totally unique and those who have not seen him play have a hard time believing its true.
Larry Bird’s play: not the fastest, not the flashiest, it’s just the most pleasing to the eye because it’s the smoothest. Simply the best.
Thanks fatal- never get tired of seeing Bird play because nobody could do all the things he did on the court. His court vision and feel for the game is unreal. He could dominate the game and still blend in with all of his teammates, which is the truly great mark of a one of a kind player. He really did make his teammates better.
mrgrandprix fourspeed I like your comment. Those are some of my arguments for Bird being the 🐐! I'd rather play with him than MJ or LeBron.
Bird was playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers. Greatest ever.
fukn sick..so much better and more enjoyable to watch than anyone playing today.
totally agree!
Without a doubt.
So many highlight Bird plays in this game that I've never seen in his highlight reels over the years !! It's like he did something memorable 4 or 5 times a game where you are left just shaking your head !!
The Greatest Smallforward To Ever Play!
The greatest to play ever period!
2:44 - Another awesome Bird play that isn't on the typical highlight reels. 3:08 - Replay
Bird`s BOUNCE PASSES are Just Unreal!!!
Bird's single game highlights are better than LeBron's career highlights.
Omg I love this! 😂 ❤️
LARRY BIRD WAS THE BEST ALL-AROUND PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY.
Absolutely right!
@5:01 "here's a wild lay up". Are you kidding me ? wild ? NASA's Mission Control couldn't have calculated that trajectory any better.
SORRY ABOUT THE LATE REPLY- BUT- AMEN!!!!
Not alley-oops, but Larry -oops
3:20 Seriously? he took a rocket DJ pass and volleyball set it into the basket while getting an and one. I've never seen LBJ do a play that sick and this play isn't even on Bird's highlight reel.
ah the mid range jumper. so beautiful 4:19
Great vintage footage, as usual
Besides Bird Bernard King was such a pleasure to watch. Bernard was also at the ISU unveiling of the Bird statue some years back. Class.
Really? I knew they respected each other but that sounds like something only a close "friend" would do. That's really cool.
Poor Kenny Walker… wasn’t a damn thing he or the rest of them could do about that man! Legend
Thanks fatal9ish, i was itching for some Larry Bird goodness.
GOAT SF!!
I think its safe to say that if Bird had Lebron's athleticism he would average 50 25 and 25 for ten years and winning ten championships before quitting basketball from boredom.
Greatest player ever
Larry Bird was a better outside shooter, passer, and rebounder, than Jordan.
Facts
trha2222
That’s as irrelevant as hair on a rock.
Bird was better than Jordan.
True
The layup at 2:45 is 🤯
This was Bernard King's 2nd game back after 2 years recovering from his ACL tear and he put up 20pts. He only played 6 games at the end of the 86-87 season and the Knicks let him go. ONE OF THE WORST MOVES IN KNICK HISTORY, and that's saying alot. A core of Ewing, BK, G Wilkens, ROY Mark Jackson, and Johnny Newman coming of the bench, with new HC Rick Pitino, could have been the making of a dynasty. My heart still aches at what could have been with BK, had he never tore his ACL...😞
1:53 "Kenny Walker is being punished for some reason by Larry Bird. I don't know why he's a nice guy!" Lol
Joe b hall rescinded a scholarship offered to bird so he liked to punish former UK players. Hall said he was afraid bird was too slow to play at UK.
Absolutely. Bird and MJ didn't celebrate a 15 pt lead in the 2nd quarter, either, like some punks. They waited until the 4th quarter and the game was decided. The 2 best I've seen play.
Bird was unreal even with his left hand
Bird always punished Walker, I don't think Bird liked Kentucky, maybe the reason.
Joe b hall offered bird a scholarship then rescinded it. He wanted to go to UK. Hall was afraid he’d be too slow. Idiot
Bird had been in the league for 8 years by this game.
Bird seems pretty athletic to me. He was about 6’10’’.
Awesome game. F9ish, if you don't mind me asking, where did you obtain this footage? I'm interested in making a Larry Bird mix video and I'd like to use some clips from this game, but I want to find a higher quality version, this is a bit too blurry to use with the other footage I'm planning on using.
Thanks!
The true GOAT
How many points did that left hand get Bird?
steals the ball runs out of bounds and then sprints down to the other baseline for a layup, yeah he was soooooo slow...lmao
I know, right? 😄
The anniuncers feeling bad for Bird "punishing" Kenny Walker. 😂😂😂
It must have been fun to be a Celtic fan when Larry Bird was a player.
It was, but unfortunately I can't watch the NBA any more...
Bird always came to play
Sometimes it seemed so quiet... I wish it was like that nowadays. I wanna hear what they are saying on the court
It would have been interesting if the Knicks had kept Bernard King to play alongside Ewing. Especially since he got back to All Star status by 91' with the Bullets. Does anyone know how many games he actually played alongside Ewing? I'm pretty sure he was injured for part of the 87' season..
They never played any games together. This game here was when BK came back for the last 6 games of the 86-87 season after 2 years of coming back from his ACL repair. The Knicks were FUKIN STUPID to let BK go. He averaged 30ppg in his last 3 games with the Knicks, and like you stated, had a lot of game left in him. Ugh, the Knicks and the Jets are the worst run franchises...
Here's the backstory on why Larry Bird was punishing Kenny Walker. Larry Bird wanted to play for Kentucky in college, but the Kentucky coach said Larry wasn't good enough to play for Kentucky. Larry Bird being Larry Bird, he held on to that slight and always looked to bust the asses of Kentucky players like Kentucky's Kenny "Sky" Walker when they got to the NBA.
@bootiack f Larry Bird had Shannon Brown's athleticism....HE WOULD BE THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME. Reasons: B-ball I.Q. is unmatched to this day, I've never seen before him or after him a superstar who dove on the floor for balls as much or as hard as larry did, he embarassed players every night that had twice the natural athletic ability, he already is one of the greatest of all time, and between you and me he and Oscar were the most versatile, skilled, and smartest players ever.
Open your eyes, he was quick as a cat for 6’10” it was way more athletic than people give them credit for.
Your description is hilarious
When this game was going on the Knicks were an utter mess. They were finishing three years with tons of injuries. Patrick Ewing did not play in this game. If you notice Bernard King DID. It was his second game back.
Frank Maiorana Bernard went on to a remarkable comeback after his injuries this season or the next.
is this guy serious?
Show this video to all the doubters saying the defense were mediocre during Bird’s era. African American athletic men can’t shut LB down.
White guy from Russia just won the olympic gold in the high jump.
Goat!!!
wild layup?
larry bird over kenny walker *FARRRT*
I forgot how garbage Kenny walker was and bird effortlessly makes him look like even more of a scrub
He was toying with them. Imagine LeBaby surviving one game against the Bad Boys, for example. Bird had 'dog' in him. Best small forward, evah
Why isn't Johnson a hall of famer?
He is.
@@gogetter5137 after he passed. He should have been in long before that.
En 3/4.... 47 puntos.
In your face NY! You’re no match for Larry Legend! We even stole Red Auerbach from you New Yorkers ha ha!
3:44
White boy making everybody on the Knicks look foolish.
hey pretorious don't embarrass yourself that was one play! there were entire games when doc made it a priority to limit Bird offensively and he did!! He also was a GREAT "off the man defender" always up there in steals and blk shots and was an above average one on one defender!
Ira Goldman, What film you watching ? Bird outplayed Dr J in MOST games. roll film
