Great video. You are a great help! I used the HTH Green to Blue Advanced Shock System (Cal Hypo and flocculant). However, when vacuuming, algae still clouds the pool. How can I kill the algae before using the flocculant? How long should I wait for the Cal Hypo shock to work? Thanks
The chemical that kills algae is chlorine. So after you use enough chlorine to kill all the algae, some of the algae will become so tiny that it's invisible to the naked eye. That's when you use floc to add weight and color to it so you can SLOWLY vacuum it off the pool floor.
Hey DJ! Is there a Non manual vacuum that does the same you did but I want to let it work by itself while taking an small amount of water out? All vacuums I see don’t toss the water out… Thank you for your advice!

Hello, omg, great info. I put two bags of shock in my 24' round. Now it's been cloudy for two days. I'm going to order the liquid you suggested. Did you run the pool on high or low? Im not understanding the Siphon method.😊
Sorry to hear that. I don't really shock my pool. It's not something I worry about. Why did you shock your pool? Was it plagued with algae or something? If so, then the cloudiness is probably microscopic dead algae floating around. Floc will add color and weight to it so you can vacuum it off the pool floor. I gave a complete demonstration on how to siphon vacuum in this video. Not sure what part you didn't understand. Also my pump only has one speed.
I'm going to look at the video again. So. Update. I was told by the pool store every 10 days. I backwashed and rinsed. Alkalinity was good. Ph was low. I added increaser, and the water cleared some. I added the floc at 7:30. The pump is off. Fingers are crossed 🤞 for tomorrow. Thx

@@waya312 I shot the video today and I am editing it tomorrow. I hope to have it up by this weekend or Monday at the very latest so stay tuned. I think you will really enjoy and appreciate it.
Great job sir. But what i wouldn't do is to stay in the pool to vacuum all the debris your body and your feet would stir the dead algae and dirts up, it's best to stay outside and vacuum it
I don't know because I only use the Pool Calculator to tell me how much baking soda, borax or muriatic acid to use to being the PH and/or alkalinity up or down. I don't use the calculator to tell me how much bleach or chlorine to put in my pool.
Since I am only concerned with PH and alkalinity, I would add the appropriate amount of muriatic acid to lower the PH and alkalinity at the same time. That usually does the trick. If chlorine is super high, I wouldn't do anything but let nature take it's course and allow it to come down on it's own.
I don't have a definite answer. You could try using regular filtration mode. Some say it works fine, others say it doesn't. Someone else put their backwash hose in their pool and set the pump on waste. That is another way to accomplish it because waste bypasses the filter just like recirculate does. Good luck!
@andreszuluaga1470 That's a tough question and you'll get different answers depending on who you ask. The thing is you want the flock to circulate in the water and not get trapped in the sand. Some people say if you don't have the recirculate option to use the filter option for 2 hours because that's all you have. Some say that still works and some say it doesn't. If you do decide to use the filter setting, make sure you backwash after you vacuum the dead algae from bottom of pool to clean any remaining clogged floc from your sand filter. Good luck!!
@andreszuluaga1470 Also if you use a cartridge filter, just remove the cartridge and use regular filter setting. That will give you the same result as recirculate.
@@DJ2Legit007 Thanks sr. I found another way to do it, I put the filter in waste mode, and attach a vacum hose in the out of the valve and the other end in the pool. it works perfectly.
It ALWAYS works for me. Not sure why it didn't work for you. If you're sure you did it correctly, I don't know what to tell you except try again. Not sure what your water condition is. Does your water have too many chemicals in it right now? That could cause cloudiness too. I'd let your pump just filtrate the water for a few days and then try again. Also let the floc sit in there at least 24 hours. Good luck!!
Sometimes it takes a couple days. I didn’t see much on the bottom the first day. Second day a little more, third the same. I have vacuumed out the dead algae for up to 5 days. It will get clear.
Give it a day and test again to see if PH comes down by itself. If not, add appropriate amount of muriatic acid to bring it down. Then test again. If PH is good but alkalinity is down, use borax to bring up alkalinity only. Good luck!
