One thing to notice is that the eggs have similar trauma as their protectors.
Ai normally protects that feel isolated ,whit rika are girls that have something to do whit power dynamics.
And whit momoe the girls normaly are abused by adults and the guy on episode then , mostly people that are struggling with their identity.

I think the issue is less that it’s beautiful or ugly, more that it stands out- a lot of bullies just want to find something different and pick at it. They are looking for a reason and any unique aspect of someone is a reason. Same way people make fun of strange but harmless hobbies, accents, cultural foods and so on. :(

I have a theory (excuse my english, hope I can explain it well). The story actually takes place in purgatory and all 4 girls are in them. They are all dead. This group of friends have to help and save lost souls who killed themselves so they can finally rest in peace, while at the same time the 4 girls resolve their own problems so they can leave purgatory and ascend too. Ura-Acca could be a representation of God and everything Ai and the other girls see is a simulation recreated from their own memories (Ai's home, her mother and her teacher, etc).
Even the lyrics of the opening song sound like a goodbye letter before definitely dying, which imo backs this theory up.
Well idk what's actually going to happen in the series. If it's all an illusion, or if there's actually a magic world in real life with wonder eggs to save dead loved ones. We'll just have to wait and see. This anime is great and depressing af so far

    • @lordblazer

I think there is an agenda those two dudes have they aren't telling the girls. But I think that's as far as I can guess. I don't think they're in purgatory though. They just got dragged into some shit that probably really isn't their fight, and are being manipulated.

      Spoiler Alert
In my theory, the egg itself represent a barrier or more of a comfort zone. Inside of it are the young girls who were not ready to come out. The reason why there's a monster who attacks them is because that they need to fight the monster back to complete breaking the egg fully not just some cracks. The anime itself represent growing up or the process to get to tomorrow. The young girls that alr suicide are eggs that fails to understand what is growing up and change into a better tomorrow. The reason why Ohto Ai is the main character is because that she has something different. She has Sawaki-sensei. On episode 10, correct me if i'm wrong, Sawaki told her that he wanted/wishes for Ohto Ai to be a beautiful and strong woman. She even goes as far to go back to school. The side characters didn't change much. All of them only think about their mission failing to realize what's the real reason they are trying to help them, why did they want them alive for.
      Welp, it's just a theory.

So far (at ep 5 so far), its not a 'tear jerking' show. It doesnt really give those big emotional scenes with sad music that make you cry. So far, its still a generally light-hearted mood and an upbeat trippy OST. But once in a while it does try to evoke feelings of panic and uncertainty. More than anything, its a really thought-provoking show, and makes you really reflect and think, more than cry.
Though thats just so far. I fully expect the moment to come where I just bawl my eyes out. But at some point, you'd definitely have to watch it, its the best anime I've ever seen. Preferably, watch it sooner so theres less risk of getting spoiled when it ends.

Maybe it’s working to find out why that took their life or slowly coming to terms with the death.
I hope this makes sense because it’s late right now but yeah that’s my theory.

Please do another analysis of this, when the anime will be completed. This anime plays with your expectations and therefore I love it.
Spoiler: A good example is the 4 main protagonist, who looks at first glance as a stereotype of a boyish heroine, who wants to save her love interest, which is not the case

The themes in this anime aren't just adolescent in their scope but they are also problems many of us who were labeled as 'different' (or myself in high school as 'most unique') in adult life. Yes, it does improve over time but death can really sting, particularly when it is someone you love dearly. Luckily I have people in my life that support me and I know the best is yet to come and there are blue skies ahead of me.

I have a theory that once all of the main characters help enough people they can end up make the people they're trying to save alive again but then nothing happens. They're still stone figures. The bug or either the two mannequins explain that they can't really be resurrected from the dead and that the whole journey Ai, Neiru, Rika, and Momoe have been have been one was to move on and accept that the loved ones they were trying to save are gone. And to help other people so they won't have to go through the same thing and let them live a happy life to do that. I don't really know what could happen next but I feel like they would naturally feel upset hearing this. Especially Neiru since she's been trying so hard to save her sister. Even as to hurt herself to do it. So they all go back to their homes and think about things. They would end up feeling lost but Ai will most likely bring the 3 of them together and say a speech with them realizing Ai has brought them all together and they can't give up now. They later all accept that they truly can't get their loved ones back and later find out they most likely have to beat those mannequins asses so all of this could stop. In the end, they do and life goes back to normal (they're still best friends though) and live the life they have as teenage girls. The end :)
Edit: I forgot the hatchlings died. Sorry about that

    • @nery8688
      @nery8688 3 года назад +11

i was thinking the same thing,, the idea that you can bring your dead loved one back is just too good to be true, but of course, what traumatized young girl wouldn't want to believe that? i'm sure the mannequins are aware of this and capitalize off of it through selling the eggs. i see the wonder eggs as a metaphorical escapism, hence the dream settings. although the girls are encouraged to face their trauma head-on, the reality is that they're using the eggs to escape from the guilt, grief, depression, or whatever else they might be experiencing. i'd go as far to say that its a destructive coping mechanism similar to self harm since they put themselves in danger when protecting the eggs, yet their injuries carry through to the real world. i especially see this in neiru when she was using so many eggs; i thought it was symbolizing overdose. going back to the mannequins capitalizing off of these habits, i saw someone compare them to society and how young girls (in this case, im don't mean to imply that it's only young girls who can feel this societal pressure) are sold these ideas that they'll feel better when taking part in these destructive coping mechanisms. i mean, they're literally selling eggs that put the girls' lives in danger based off the idea that their problems can be solved/won't need to face their guilt anymore. it ties back to how they may not feel good enough and are trying to find reason to forgive themselves. as a sidenote, i really love how their weapons are from the ones they lost/the hatchlings because of the idea that the memory of that person/their impact on the main characters are what makes them capable of fighting all the monster-things (forgot what they were called lol) ANYWAYS THIS IS LONG i just wanted to get my thoughts out somewhere bc wonder egg is such a storytelling masterpiece already

The different representations and portrayals of harsh realities that go on throughout the series is amazing. Taking the fact that this is an anime original and it only has 12 episodes, I was surprised of how creative and welcoming every ep was because of its philosophy and it’s hooked me onto every character, even some of the minor ones. And easily it’s definitely on my updated top ten. What an interesting show with wonderful fantasy elements. So sad it’s only one episode left from ending, and I look forward to seeing maybe a movie or a season 2. If neither, I will happily look back at Wonder Egg Priority as a hidden treasure :)

Honestly I wonder if the only person they can save is the person they're currently working on saving, Ai is working on saving Koito but I remember Kurumi and some of the others saying, "Don't forget me" or something of the like.
This entire thing might be a punishment for those who commit suicide since they see it as a crime but not everyone is fortunate enough to have people who are willing to "save" them like the 4 here so they might say, "don't forget me" because they also wish to be saved.
Also it'd be heartbreaking if Ai's last "save" is Koito only to find out that her trauma monster is in fact Ai herself who only apologises.

I will state this. this actually helped me quite a bit. for the series I mean it's understandable of what's going on but the story was kind of a bit hard to understand in some ways. to me maybe that's because I've been through some of the trauma before in my own life and you are not wrong facing it head on like I did sometimes ain't the best way to go. and it took me two great friends to show that bluntly I remind you but they did show me that they woken up my eyes and changed me for the better I am a better person today because of them. so yeah this actually did help me quite a bit understand the story a little bit better amazing work on it.
I guess everyone has the dark past something I understand more than anything and sometimes taking your own life can be the worst thing to do something I have bluntly understand and have gladly made it through. but in the process realizing who I hurt like family and friends for doing so in some ways it takes more than brute strength and masses it takes friends as well to add to that person to keep moving forward
I'm not afraid to mention my past. because I'm hoping maybe it might help someone in the future.

That's why I generally appreciate that there is a show to speak of these themes, often tabuised, and it that it does it in such a good way. The tabu behind lots of the struggles mentioned in the series makes them even harder to live through. So I really like that it might create a little more awareness.... Man great video my dude! I hope you make a second video for the rest of the series and include the last girl Momoe Sawaki. This series has me hooked because not only do they cover some VERY heavy topics, they do it in a way girls their age would react to them. They're barely teens and yet they go thru some serious stuff but theres one episode where all 4 girls just hang out and have fun and eventually open up to one another. It was a very wholesome episode and it showed that you're not alone in your pain, you can find friends who can help with your burden. And the beat part is that most of their stories are often shown and not told which is very refreshing considering most modern shows do the opposite lol

6 episodes in, and the fact that it is an anime original really shows. Even though I love the plot and ideas, its character development is not that great. Character changes over insignificant things abruptly, and sometimes they even act out of character. I hate to admit this, but I think Rika character currently makes the most sense and the most consistent, despite how annoying she is. I've always known original animes often have great ideas but lack character development, but I guess it's my fault for being overhyped after ep 1. I really hope that they will prove me wrong in the second half because this show is such a banger.

Oh wow, thanks for posting this anime! I stopped halfway through the video and went and binge watched the series. It always amazes in how many complex and poignant topics are packed into contemporary anime. Given that the audience is following four protagonists, each going through personal traumas that carry compounded thoughts and emotions, with the intersection being not only a connection to someone who passed away but an entanglement with their own thoughts of suicide, it is given that the series gains in complexities as it progresses, with certain elements only emerging after all the main characters are introduced.
The multiverse is part of almost all magical girl series and is necessary for this anime, as the versions of the people brought back to life can in no way be the versions that ended their own lives. It is critical to Ai Ohto to hear the version of herself scream that she had regretted her choice to have the confidence in the one she made to keep on living. Frill also did not strike me as a strange introduction. As much as the See-Know-Evils and Haters are the constant faceless imps of the alternate world that imbody real word people, Frill placed a face on the internet itself, created by a couple of dummies that knew not the ramifications of their own creation, even her minions, like Hyphen and Dot, are just keys on a keyboard that destroy the charms, which heroine use to fight of haters, even going as far as to forcing the defeated to eat the remains of those charms. A person ending ones own existence has been occurring throughout history but the digital age moves us through social structures that are completely new and leaves people facing pressures that are not easily noticed from outside that environment. It would be hard to imagine the topic without thinking of the multiverse, with infinite versions of oneself; after all it is the version in the present in this plane that one is considering ending. It is almost a comfort to think that many versions of oneself exist in a fashion that is bearable or that these versions are even thriving, yet one weighs the present to decide if one event or even a comment is the finale straw leading to the big decision. The statues are that moment frozen in time as the main characters attempt to unravel the mysteries leading up to that choice as they move through multiple people's stories. For all the time spent attempting to (rescue) their friends from that moment, the version that is (saved) can never be the one that is lost, because all the things that make up that version only exist in the world where the person is gone. Even the Kotobuki Awano of the finale episode admits that she was simple assuming the place of the version of herself who had passed away.
Acca and Ura-Acca ominous warning about their creation, Frill, does not distract from all the individual stories; it is just an acceptance that technology is now going to play a part in these tragedies simply because it is intertwined with all of our lives. This entanglement is evident in the story by all the wires interconnected with the creation they ignored for so long; Frill, as artificial intelligence, had reached far beyond the (body) they had envisioned and becomes part of the world of technology we live in today. Momoe Sawaki and Rika Kawai reached their breaking point once their (charms) were destroyed and they do not go back into this magical world created by the scientists and that is okay, We do not have to immerse our lives in technology, yet it is not going away. There is also nothing wrong with Ai Ohto's desire to go back to the wonder egg machine to find others to help in this magical world that is full of symbolism. There is a whole new world inside of this technology and why not make a difference by becoming the friend the next person needs. Whether the tech itself is as ego-centric as Frill it is hard to say. We as humans go through that infancy stage according to psychology, and it is not far fetched to say that the artificial intelligence is going through the same metamorphosis. Although tech was often used in ways that caused harm in the series, it is just as easy to see the wonder in technology that can be used to save those who would otherwise might otherwise be lost without the support of today's social networking.

I finished this anime yesterday with a friend and truth be told, I needed a bit of time to process what happened in the latest episodes. I think it covers the heavy topics really REALLY well but it is also not for someone who is very soft or easily upset. I had to mentally prepare myself just a bit for episode 10 but then got SMACKED in the face by episode 11, Jesus fuck.
It doesn’t hold back any punches yet it doesn’t make anything too gratuitous(?) making it possible to sit through but can be hard at times, especially as some episodes’ topics will hit close to home, or as I said during one.
*”it didn’t just hit close to home, it crashed through my god damn window and hit me square in the head”*
