- Do you drive your 4x4 through water regularly or even occasionally ?
Are you aware of the damage this can cause to standard differentials ?
One preventative safety measure is diff breathers. This simple accessory / modification can be done to 99.9% of vehicles and will give you real peace of mind.
I recently fitted some diff or differential breathers to my D22 Nissan Navara.
Diff breathers - are they worth the hassle ?
How much hassle are they to install ?
Would I install them again ?
Check it out and let me know what you think, don't forget to comment below and tell me what you think - is this one mod you'll be doing to your 4x4 ?
Thanks for all the support folks, greatly appreciated.
A special thanks also to patrons

You are handy mate. I would never ever tackle that job myself. Great clip Grant
Oh thanks mate .... was pretty easy actually, give it a shot champ 😉👍
Thanks for the kind words too, stay safe champ
Diff breathers are definitely a "must have" if you are doing water crossings. They are an easy mod that is not expensive. Great video!
Thanks mate for your comments. Yeah they’re not hard to install and they’re soooo beneficial that you just wouldn’t NOT do them. Thanks mate 😉👍
Nice mate. I’m getting a full 4 breather set put into my JKU at the same time as my front diff upgrade. I’m with you, just peace of mind and a pretty inexpensive addition to a build. 🤙
Thanks for the comments mate. Yeah that’s it eh, for the relatively inexpensive cost to have them done, you wouldn’t not do them eh. Great stuff 👍
Still haven’t done my fj yet but definitely on the cards thanks for sharing grant 🇦🇺👍
Yeah it’s worth doing mate, cheers and stay safe champ 😉👍
Good job Grant. Cheers Steve
Thanks Steve. Cheers bud 👍
ive been wonting to put breathers in on my navara d40 but have had trouble finding where the factory ones are on the trans, transfer and front diff. now that ive seen this gives given my an idea of what to look for. i would think that they might be similar between the 2 vehicles i hope. thanks
Cheers John, yeah I wouldn’t think the D22 and the D40 are too far different underneath and it’s a super easy task, certainly one well worth doing. Easiest way I found was just running it up on ramps ( if you don’t have access to a hoist that is ) and didn’t take long at all to
complete. Cheers mate and safe travels 👍👍🇦🇺
Ive doen Front & Rear Diff plus Transfer in the Pajero. I havent found the Gear Box hose yet but the front diff originally went up just behind the air box and the Transfer went up behind the motor so both in pretty good spots to start with. I dont know where the Rear Diff went but now they all go to the front nice & high with filters.
Sweet 👌👍
Yeah they’re worth doing eh, keeps the crap out of your diff oil
@@4WheelingInNSW Peace of mind. In saying that I havent done a single water crossing and very little mud since lol
@@MicksGarageDarts 🤣👍
Needed if your doing water crossings
For sure mate, $40 well spent ! 👍👍
great vid, but those clear cable ties aren't worth using! Black all the way. haven't done yet but on the to do list. would like to remove factory bash plate, but haven't found front bolts yet, covered by lots of plastic crap.
Thanks mate for the comments….. didn’t know the clear cable ties were any different to black. Yeah it’s certainly worth doing if you do any sort of water crossings 👍👍
@@4WheelingInNSW Quality Triton black are UV stable, not sure that works under vehicle, but
