I think Agnes is my favorite Kathy Bates character on AHS. She's so interesting. Seeing her as Agnes versus The Butcher was really fun. And it was so satisfying when she finally met The REAL Butcher.
Episode 7 is my favorite of the season. One of the coolest things about this season for me is seeing the different interpretations of the ghosts. On the docudrama, the ghosts are basically just regular people in period clothing - dressed up to look spooky, but not overtly terrifying. The "real" ghosts in the reality TV series are SO scary in comparison. They all look more rotten and dead and grimy. Just compare Edward Philippe Mott as played by Rory versus the horrible wretch we see in the tunnels in "3 Days in Hell." Or the beautiful version of Scathach as played by Lady Gaga, versus the truly revolting and gross creature we see on screen in the second half. It's little details like those that make this season really fun to watch, and to rewatch - knowing how absolutely horrific it was for Matt and Shelby, and comparing that to what the docudrama came up with, how they prettied things up, is such a cool meta way to tell this story.
I never thought of it this way. To think what Shelby and Matt really saw, and what we saw as “viewers” is such a big comparison to how the media down plays certain/tragic stories etc.
Reminder: they aren't exactly Phones, they were specifically made to be only Cameras in the shape of a phone. they prob took out some phone stuff hardware and replaced that with better batteries. I also love how Sabhoth is shown as a Sexy, slightly wild witch in the show but in "Reality" shes a creepy corpse-like witch with matted hair
Same goes for the nurses (and most of the characters). The re-enactment nurses were relatively pretty even as ghosts, but the “real” nurse ghosts were dirty and grungy. I loved this aspect of glamorous re-enactors compared to their simply reasonably attractive (or terrifying where appropriate) “real” versions throughout the season.
I wonder if people would react to it like gamers reacted to TLOU 2. We're going through our own depression and it may make people upset because its too close to home and people are looking for an escape from this reality or something that's going to give them a little hope
@@moxiemaxie3543 its a horror show its ment to scare you. They made a clown season when there was a clown scare that was close to home for people who experienced it. And madness between the parties back then was tereifing. Kinda is now.
I can't think of anything that would fit the premise of an "American Horror Story" better than how absolutely terrible it was to live through The Great Depression. But, considering how New York turned out, I'm not sure. Brutal realism tends towards the depressing, no pun intended. Maybe if there were elements of "Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane" it could work, but I would have to see it, haha.
Of course the asian family was the grudge, however I just realized the Polks' line of "weed and taking pictures" is such a trendy lifestyle nowadays, isn't it?
Of course they are, because IT MAKES SENSE CULTURALLY. The Grudge is based on a centuries old Japanese legend. Ju-On is a centuries old vengeful spirit. It would make no sense to have the Asian family as American ghosts/legends. That would be ignorant...
This season was my favorite from many things like the Trixie Mattel cameo, to all of Leslie Jordan's scenes but especially how batshit crazy the season became from ep. 7 - 10 They jumped the gun so fast and hard but I really appreciate how they really pulled out all the stops with fan favorite characters and actors returning (like taisa farmiga and finn wittrock having like 4 second appearances) and all of the above-average kills for an AHS season. People always seem to forget that Roanoake was such a stacked season in terms of casting, like the only exceptions I can think of that were missing from appearing this season were Emma Roberts and I honestly think that if they were able to bring back Jessica Lange for just a smudge of a second, it would've been helmed as one of the greatest seasons instead of being unfairly shit on.
Honestly finn did such a amazing job i didn't even recognize him or his voice. It may be because I'm squeamish so this season was very hard to watch though very entertaining.
Couldn't have said it better. This season forces you to learn the characters & their tv counterparts (otherwise you'll be entirely confused for the run of the season), we get lots of background for everyone & everything & once this season starts up, it never really slows down nor gives us a breather (aside from Crickets humor). With other seasons like Coven, it's voodoo vs witches w/ a witch hunter sprinkled in. That's it. It's easy to follow & you could miss the first 10 minutes of an episode without being too worried you'll be lost when you return. I think all of this is partially why AHS fans weren't in love with Roanoke. It wasn't a typical season. You couldn't mindlessly watch it. You had to be fully invested or not at all. Which is also common in the horror community in general. If the movie isn't full of mindless dialogue, gore & easy entertainment, then it's automatically a fail in fans eyes. This is exactly how movies like Hereditary, Don't Blink, A Quiet Place, etc. got labeled as bad movies by audiences, but not critics.
Agnes becoming super powered and insane enough to kill is obvious shes possesed she even chants in both the scenes after she kills people and its obvious its not just a woman whos lost her mind...the Polks jumping so quickly to cannibalism can be explained by the ame thing...its that place man its a hellhole...also its hilarious how in the beginning u guys made such a strong point about taking your brain out n leaving it out of it and go on through the episode to point out every little unimportant silly things to do with cameras n battery life n stuff noone ever thinks about anyway:p love this though keep em coming
Definitely think piggy man is making a return. It would be amazing to have a full back story to him. I've been walking around shouting Dominic. Can't help myself!
When the two nurse ghosts stab Rory repeatedly that really creepes me out. This is such a good and underrated season. In my opinion the scariest seaso in the franchise.
I loved this season of AHS, regardless of the need for massive suspension of disbelief....i loved the russian doll nature of it...one doll inside another inside another....Great!
With Agnes, I think there were cameras set up she didn't know about, the reality TV cameras to be exact. Wouldn't make any sense for her to be seen on camera like that. But her self monologue, she pays attention to the camera she set up.

They've already did 1984. They have playlists of the AHS seasons they did. They did quite a few seasons already though not all of them; they're not quite caught up (1984 is in fact the ones they did do). Most people are begging for murder house at this point as it's the first AHS season yet they still haven't reviewed it though.
Ikr lol roanoke is the best AHS by far lol. I like them all but Roanoke I had to watch 2 times before I got the full understanding. Lol I was so confused the first time around with the actors and then the real people who are also actors lol it was so confusing for me, but after watching it twice I finally got it and I now know all the American horror stories connect with one another as well which forced me to watch all of AHS to add up the timeline . I love AHS period it’s such a mind game and maze lol.
Most are easy to follow. Then you get movies like Hereditary that actually tell a fully immersive story...and horror fans hate it. That's a big issue in the horror community. If it isn't mindless gore, pointless characters & cheap thrills, it's not worth their time. @@peachyqueen4399 nope. I don't hate a fully immersive story. I don't like Hereditary (and the VVitch and Misommar) because it is slow and not really scary, which many horror fans agree with me on. People like you just think that you are better than others. If you are even in the horror community at all, you probably are the "big issue." You should just respect others for their viewing preferences. Some people like fast-paced horror. Some people want to have fun watching horror movies and don't want to think too much about them. I get why a lot of people like Hereditary, but to call people who hate it an "issue" is just condescending.
This isn’t a cast-iron theory or anything, but does anyone else think that maybe Lee didn’t kill her husband and just said it to give her daughter closure on her father’s death?
That isn't possible though. Flora SAYS she saw Lee commit the murder. Also, after Dominics death, Lee immediately wants to get the footage of her confession back. She's trying to cover her own tracks. Though, I do believe the only reason Lee finally admitted it was because she thought she was about to die & didn't want to leave Flora with questions. Either way, does it matter? Lol. Literally EVERYONE in this season is a horrible person. Flora isn't even the first child Lee has lost. It's mentioned that she had another child, Emily, that was abducted & killed after Lee left her alone in a car.
