  • Flying turbine jets is a passion for many radio control plane flyers and once a year they assemble at Australia's biggest radio control jet event, Wang Jets. We visited the 2023 event to see the action and you will be amazed at how much people will spend on these models all in the name of fun.

It sounds like a lot of money until you realize it's in Aussie dollars.

Jet's are expensive? Would have never guessed. It has been pounded into my brain now. No chance of ever forgetting. Would prefer a more positive theme, honestly

Perhaps a little less talk and more showing the planes, had me skipping through the video. But good to see anyway.

Every pilot has to prove they are capable of flying the model as part of a turbine certification process. No beginners here.

Cost is outrageous mostly for those whoe's only skill is having a credit card. People who have the skill to build a jet from a kit or from scratch, can cut the cost by approx. 2/3, have pride in their achievements and enjoy a wing loading that is about half that of a factory built model. My kit built Reaction 54 weighs 20 Lbs. empty. My friends PST made composite Reaction 54 weighs 34 Lbs. Ask him about the difference in flying qualities and power requirements!
