    Would be a good idea to add custom trainer battles so things like boosts can be unchecked pre match. Can't see it happening though as they dont like putting much money back in to the game

    Honestly... I think the buff/debuff chances are terrible. I'd much rather it be guaranteed, but make the moves worse.

    The main series games has way more stuff subject to RNG, not to mention just having critical hits. PoGo doesn't have it nearly as bad, but it does suffer from server quality.

    • @ThoTechtical

      Whilst you're technically correct I don't think you can compare the main games to GO. They are entirely different games.

    GBL is now about favourable RNG...this is why ive always said they should have left breaking swipe because at least you knew the debuff was coming and could plan around it...but instead we get this high DPE with random debuff/buffs that could completely change a game..

    Boosts can be annoying but I guess its the one chance someone has to beat getting hard countered. Getting it in both games is very lucky though 😅

    • @ThoTechtical
      @ThoTechtical  3 месяца назад +2

      I'd rather beat getting hardcountered by solid strategy (as I did in my first match vs Inadequance), than getting lucky with a boost....

    • @EbiLMunkeY
      @EbiLMunkeY 3 месяца назад +1

      I don’t think a match being decided on a dice roll is a good mechanic for competitive scene, but it can be fun in casual play. Unfortunately there’s no unranked queue so every game is “competitive” unless you really don’t care about rank

  • @ProBeansEater

    Boost/debuff chances should definitely get removed from the game

      i dont think so

    • @adriaortiz1345
      @adriaortiz1345 3 месяца назад +1

      For me, they should remove the 20% / 50% chances of debuff/boost. The only attacks that can debuff/boost should be 100% chances. That would lead to a fair match, where you don’t depend on randomness to win but your skills.

    • @ThoTechtical
      @ThoTechtical  3 месяца назад +1

      Nope, in a local tournament you start with a swiss bracket followed by a single elimination top cut.
      That's where it differs from regional tournaments

  • @dilliondantin

    How many people are actually competing in these tournaments?
    Feels like it's the same 6-8 names that I hear over and over and over and over... And over...
    Being a "regional champion" feels less impressive when there's only 2 S-tier competitors in the match
    Like I was a medal winner 3 years in a row at a local 5k that takes place in a pumpkin patch... Bit that's not something worth bragging about because who the hell was I competing against.

    • @gameandflogchannel
      @gameandflogchannel 3 месяца назад

      That just Dutch locals honestly lol. There are only like 8 people competing in them, but every competitor is top level, that’s why you see the same names. Regionals in Europe is like 200 people and winning one definitely puts you in the conversation for best of EU. You’re only seeing the locals though, not the regionals

    • @ThoTechtical
      @ThoTechtical  3 месяца назад

      Regionals have 100-200 competitors per event, and they are not just your local players 😅 mainly only very competitive players go to them

    RNG is and always will be part of Pokemon idk what y'all whining about. That being said, I think Ape boosts more than normal. Maybe he has a hidden ability? Would be nice if someone tested this.

    • @ThoTechtical
      @ThoTechtical  3 месяца назад +1

      In other games there's usually a risk/reward involved with rng based attacks and there are weaker less rng based options available too.
      In GO most of the time you're not throwing NS (or attacks like scald for that matter) as a strategic choice to get a potential buff, you're just throwing cause it's simply the best option damage/energy wise. The buff is just the cherry on top. No risk involved.

    • @whaletastic9200

      @@ThoTechticalNight Slash is the actual best moveset for ape and has boost chance as bonus which differs it from ancient power which is way worse and gets saved by the boost chance

    • @DerDickeSc2
      @DerDickeSc2 3 месяца назад +3

      Just because RNG is in other pokemon games, it doesn't mean that it has to be a big thing in GO as well.
      In the main games you have weather, items, abilities and can constanly switch to change your matchup.
      You also usually only get hit once per turn.
      In GO you basically have no opportunity to counteract a boost except maybe switching in a hard counter and hoping that your opponent has no answer and get hit every turn with a boosted attack.
      These games are not comparable at all and boosting has a way bigger impact here.

    • @whaletastic9200
      @whaletastic9200 3 месяца назад

      @@DerDickeSc2 yeah but the nature of pokemon go battle matchups is heavily rng based

    • @EbiLMunkeY

      @@DerDickeSc2honestly even switching in a hard counter sometimes isn’t enough, the boosted damage is often enough to just power through any hard counters
