How do you use the rooted castor oil? I just got some and afraid to waste it its so expensive :-) Do you dilute and use at the root? I see you have a lot of hair
MsNaturale Michelle I mix with shea butter and fragrance oil and use as a sealant and for my scalp or use as a prepoo when I need some extra moisture and protection before a wash
Omg thanks beautiful for the reply i am enjoying your channel so much. I have the same hair type but finer strands. Its about 11 inches and my goal is 20 inches. I have been stuck at this length for years. The truth is i don't know what i am doing. I have way too many products and find that these 'natural products' don't always work. I can't wait for the next video. I will try mix it with butter. I live in Australia so its not easy to get.
MsNaturale Michelle you're very welcome love long healthy hair is totally attainable with eduction, determination, and patience just keep trying and don't give up if it's what you really want. Shea butter is my absolute favorite sealant try ordering some offline it's cheaper that way for me
I will do just that and mix with my rooted treasure. I am going to be watching what you are doing hehe and once i finish my ton of products i am going to keep it simple with cheap products. Thank you so much. You're awesome xx
I notice anytime 4c hair is long, thick, and luscious, people will start questioning if its "truly 4c." I dont think it has anything to do with skin color.

Our hair won't fit neatly in a little box, but how can we expect it to when it's not it's nature? It defies gravity as well as labels.
I love your voice and personality, it's so chill ❤and yesss, people criticize you for not wearing an afro 24/7 but fail to realize that its much more prone to tangle, knot up, and break in that state rather than in a stretched state like it takes a good 2 or 3 (or 4) hours to thoroughly detangle after I wear my afro which is why I don't do it very often
치즈다이몬드 👏 thanx. Girl I get judged for having braids in my hair 90% of the time. And whenever I wear it our its always, "why do you wear braids? your hair looks so good!" um yes, it looks like this BECAUSE I use protective styling. I have very thick 4c hair btw
nappy is so derogatory but you have turned it around in a positive way. congratulations. . and your right bc I'm chocolate with 3c type hair. my mom is 4c. she says I have hair like my grandfather.. her dad. shrugs. DNA.. genetics. 🤔 💯🙌 waist length hair goals
Queen Chocolate Agreed. The word nappy, which was originally the term for a baby diaper, was a derogatory created to put down blacks. I no longer use that word.
I still hate the term nappy. It's literally a term for a diaper I dont understand why people call it that. Kinky is alright but coily makes more sense, describes the texture and isn't derogatory or have another odd definition.
Thank you! Finally someone thinking the same thing I'm thinking about trims! I feel like.. My hair makes a lot of progress. It's quite healthy. Why do I have to cut off length? I've heard literally EVERYONE saying trims are necessary and I've been feeling guilty for not doing this in years. Glad I'm not the only one! Thanks for dem tips ❤🌻
girl you are beautiful! I have 3c/3b hair & my oldest sister has 4c hair but she goes to the hair salon & gets it pressed every 2 weeks! I pray for the day she stops & embraces her 4c hair!
Bree Corley Or just let her press it. those of us with looser curls need to stop telling nappy 4c what to do with their hair. You don't press yours because your hair is looser.
@@AnastasiaLUVSU I'm sure it would be more challenging, but it's no problem to encourage laying off heat sometimes. Only so that it can remain healthy because it is fragile
I absolutely love this video especially being someone who has 4C hair and have been natural for almost a year! So far through my journey I have been trying to find the perfect products for my hair and this video gives great tips! My protective style is definitely box braids and I've seen growth over time...I thought I never would. Thank you for this vid!!!
Your hair is beautiful! I agree trimming is cute your length.. I stop trimming September 2016 and my hair is growing like crazy. I keep it simple, by doing like you stated (doing what my hair likes). Thanks for the Black Castor Oil tip!!!!
My hair is just like this! !!! Yessss, hair goals ! People don't believe my hair is like this either , because when I do braid outs of stretches it so much it looks like a completely different texture ( I never ever do wash and go's) BTW you and your family is beautiful! !!!
I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel! Every time I search for how to grow 4C hair, NOTHING comes up! Only how to grow 4B! I'm so glad I found someone else with the same hair type to help make it easier to grow my hair!😊🙃
Your hair is 4c, I think some people are confused because many people think all 4c hair are fine strands, to me it looks like you are 4c with thicker/coarse hairs strands which appears to be a different hair type, but it's not, it's 4c...I have 4C hair but my strands are not coarse they are fine/thin.
coreenamusic Yes I agree, my hair is a mix of very coarse thick strands and also fine thin strands but I can imagine how different my hair would be if I had the majority of just one type.
I just did the big chop. Over the years I've gotten relaxers and always wondered why my hair was so thin and breaking. My hair would shed like crazy and no amount of protein and moisture would help so I decided to cut it all off and I have a twa now. My hair would never grow past neck length and I am excited to see where my hair will go from here. You just gained a new subbie, I love how empowering your videos are on your hair. From why I can tell I think I have 4c hair but I certainly would love it if I did😊😊😊😊
I need to get it together. I did my second big chop in 2013, and my hair is just passed collar bone length. I've become accustomed to cutting it all the time, because I know I don't take care of it as I should, and end up with split ends. You are very inspirational!!
i really needed this vid. I didnt realize that 4c was the most prone to breakage and being dry. I was screwing my hair up badly blowdrying it all the time.
It pains me that you’re not here anymore 😣💔, you brought so much value to the community + the world! I’ve been watching you since high school & I’m 24 now & still come back to watch you, bc you gave me the courage to wear my hair how I always wanted to wear it ☹️ love you nap queen #neverforgotten
Napp Queen, nice video. The JBC you mentioned is the best one out because it's the real deal no chaser. They actually have a YT video showing how they make it. My great-grandmother use to make it back home and whenever I go back to Jamaica, I always buy some directly from someone that makes it. I have rum bottles of it at home right now, lol. And Yes, there's a huge difference with some of the most popular brands, most of them are diluted, not thick. JBC is something that was homemade, peoples Grannies use to make it. There were no brands until it became popular. Everyone would just make sure to buy some from Mr or Miss so and so when they went back home. You would see the dark stuff in liquor bottles at most Jamaicans houses, lol. But all across the Caribbean, people make Black Castor oil. The difference with JBC is we usually roast the beans longer and that's why JBC is usually slightly darker BUT everyone does it slightly different but it's still a similar process. There's also Haitian Black Castor oil now.
Good points. Unfortunately our people have been told "light skinned with good hair" for so long, they forgot that our DNA is capable of producing many variations of hair types and skin types, WITHOUT the help of non-black DNA SMH! We need some serious help with understanding what we are.
Castor Oil is the bomb babe! Ran out now shedding like cray! Will get me some more. Jamaican Black Castor Oil Will Be My Hair BIBLE!! Thank you for your vids! 👍😅
Loved this video, X. You spoke a lot of wisdom about caring for natural hair, particulrly when you talk about protctive styles and hair growth. Hair grows when you nourish it with good products and keep it moisturised, putting hair in a protective style and not making sure that your hair is hydrated will not lead to hair growth. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. XXX.
I think she made a mention of skin color because people don't believe her hair is 4c because of her very light skin stone especially when her hair is stretched and styles. She mentioned her sisters complexion to illustrate that she is not half black/half white. She is trying to explain to those that tell her she is mixed.
Hair goals!!! I'm light skin and 4C people never believe me when I say all you have to do is find things that work for you! Your 4C doesn't have to be dry or short. I transitioned for a year and cut my hair September 2016 it is now back to the length I had before I big chopped which is SL. I also swear by JBCO!
My ends were looking out of wack and so I just called it quits with braids and weaves and only used wigs cuz I could take care of the hair and wash it weekly. 4 months later it's all filled out😁
Girl you are so so right I have 4C hair too I don't trimmed my hair either I tried to let it grow and wear protective styles you have some beautiful hair keep up the great work
Great point on taking proper care of your hair AFTER PROTECTIVE STYLING!!! I've seen and heard ppl do crazy shit to their hair after protective styling! And they wonder why they Hair ain't growing!
Napp Queen yes please, your everyday go to style. When you say you keep it stretched all the time, could you show that please. I'm really new tryna learn my 4c/4b and it's frustrating
I look to you I am 12 years old I am also 4c hair type I am also tall I never liked being tall I feel like a giant But now that i see how beautiful you are I am about 5'5-5'6 Sounds short, but in my body of a 7th grader,I feel tall Most cute boys are shorter then me
Hey my daughter is around your height 7th grade, I am tall 5'9.5" became a model in high school just take care of your body. Eat well and my high school everyone will be swooning.
sometimes people dont understand the diversity WITHIN our ethnicities. even though we have a beautiful rich history (which pops up in genes now and then) light skin does not automaticallt mean you are "mixed" or "biracial" in the modern day sense. my family is very similar to yours and my older sister has the same complexion as you. you're confidence is so beautiful and it glows inside out!
La Gente yes thank you! I included my fam in this video to show just that. Many people doubted my hair was 4C because of my complexion, but complexion has nothing to do with hair type. You can be light as white with 4C and dark as night with 3B it all depends on your genes
Your are truly a beautiful lady with beautiful hair, I also have 4c hair and when I'm between relaxers, it's nappy/kinky, it is what it is, like you said, only an insecure person would have a problem with those words. Great video, great advice! It amazes me that black women are offended by the word nappy/kinky, but yet, some black women don't have a problem with the filthy rap garbage, that's being passed off as music, some of this so call music is repeatedly saying nigga, using vulgar language, calling women whores, calling them the B word, it's really sad, that black women actually purchase this filth.
I have 4C hair as well and yes I'm light skinned as well I did the big chop in 2014 and as my hair grew I just rocked a Afro btw my profile pic is 3 years old I started deep conditioning and finger detangling and my hair texture literally changed I can no longer wear a Afro my hair just lays I really have to play with it for it to be rocked big fro style so now I'd like to think I'm blessed by the hair gods bcuz it's very easy to wear my hair stretched btw my deep conditioning is always done once every two weeks I also do my deep conditioning with JBCO in my hair as well which I think is what makes my hair instantly stretched my goal is 27-30 inches and then I'm good I don't think I'd let it grow any longer than that bcuz I'm 6'2 and the styles I wear is perfect for the length I have now I did the big chop June 2013 my protective styles is strictly Bantu knots and my products are Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil leave in conditioner I don't shampoo I use Shea Moisture Cowash and I use a tshirt to dry my hair and that's it for me I keep it simple as well I love your video and your honesty and btw my hair looks like yours and the last time I used heat was 2 years ago I hope this helps ladies I'm thinking of doing a video since I have my entire journey including the big chop and before the products I use came out I used pink lotion and black castor oil oh and keratin and I never had a facial breakout thank god❤️
I know how you feel. My brother is a young dark skin through and through, and I'm so light no one believed were siblings when they meet him. It's hilarious!! ❤❤
Love this. Also, I was reading some of the comments and want to say I know TONS of dark fan with curly and even wavy hair. And I know just as many light fan with the nappiest type of hair you can have. I am on the light side and have extremely "nappy" 4c-d hair that I relax.
My hair is very long now and I've been natural for like 4 years now and I like to have my hair out too. I just keep my hair in simple protective styles and I barely do anything to it and its pass my shoulders. I don't really use a lot products on my hair. I don't wear makeup and never plan on to and I just love the body God gave me. #Queen
Hi baby Aaliyah (no disrespect, I loved her and you look like her)! 😍 🙋🏾Could you do a video on your low manipulation or lack of traditional protective styling? To me girls that don't use weaves or wigs as often have more lush hair overall. Not always, but the hair seems different and healthier. I've been low key watching and comparing those that don't use weave as much and I'm so sure there is a MAJOR difference in the overall quality of their hair. Yours is gorgeous, by the way! 😍😍😍
Kwameika Postell lol I definitely wasn't offended thanks for the compliment 😊 and as far as women who don't really protective style having more lush and healthy hair, I think it's more so because they spend more time learning their hair in each stage, when you protective style 80% of the time you're kinda disconnected with your hair as it grows through stages and often don't care for it as well because you don't know it as well. I don't think the protective styles are the problem, it's more so the disconnect. I guess it is enough to discuss in a video thanks for the idea I'll keep it in mind for the near future
Wow! Never thought of it that way! Excellent point! In your video, could you talk about what you did at each stage? What you did during setbacks? How you used low maintenance protection? Maybe also include some pics of your styles that are low maintenance(that's my main issue). Well, now it is...I'm recovering from major damage from weaves, and I'm ever grateful that I decided to nourish it. I'm in love with my hair now. Thanks for sharing your journey. Helps a lot!
Napp Queen That is EXACTLY why I'm not doing protective styles anymore because once it gets to a length and I wear it out, it immediately breaks or I break it in the protective styles by bobby pinning the wig or too tight braids etc. Aka how I ended up on this video lol
Thank you this great advice Beautiful Queen I so admire your beauty hair eye brows Skin! A treat to the eyes girl we all need your take on what worked for you! Being so tall you should be heading toward the Runway!!!
I have 4C hair too. I struggle with split ends and my hair stops growing at mid back. I’ve been trying to get waist length for years now. I needed to see this. Thank you for sharing.
Girl! People don't believe my hair is 4c either. I'm very light skinned, mixed but yes if I didn't nothing to it definitely 4C and proud of it so I'm just saying I can relate
Thanks. That was great! I have a channel and share what I think about protective styling. I think we agree. I really love that you say do what's good and don't do what's bad. It's as simple as that. .... and be an expert on your own hair. God bless you. I love your hair. 😊
I love my hair out tooo ! It's growing slowly and I love it more everyday, patience and love your hair, I'm lazy too sometimes though. I use to use a gellly type product to help with my twist out but now I have little more length oils and moisture gives me so much curls I love it 4c ROCKS!!!
I just subscribed your tutorials are very detailed and I love how you explain how you braid and why you twirl the ends of your braids. Please make more videos!!
I could not help but giggle a little at the beginning when you talked about how some people do not believe that you have 4c hair. When you say "maybe because I am light skin" I flat lined at that part. I also talked about hair growth on my RUclips channel. Your hair is nice.
Hello! You and your hair are beautiful! So I got the Jamaican black caster oil you discussed in the video. My hair felt dry approximately 6 hrs after applying the oil. I first applied water, Cantu hair lotion, then the oil. I've also tried it without the water. Also, the oil smells strange.. A bit smookey. How do you remedy that? Thank you! You are awesome!

I have come to the conclusion that no one will ever agree 100% on hair typing, because afro textured hair has too many variables, too many looks. Curl pattern, hair density/sparseness, strand thickness/thinness, texture (cottony, spongy, thready, silky, wiry)... those different combinations can have a 4c silky with medium density hair mistaken for a 4a spongy with medium density hair due to the compact shrinkage that texture is prone to. Our hair won't fit neatly in a little box, but how can we expect it to when it's not it's nature? It defies gravity as well as labels.
Exactly why I don't hair type with the ABC I just say type 4 because I know its a derivative of it
I love your voice and personality, it's so chill ❤and yesss, people criticize you for not wearing an afro 24/7 but fail to realize that its much more prone to tangle, knot up, and break in that state rather than in a stretched state like it takes a good 2 or 3 (or 4) hours to thoroughly detangle after I wear my afro which is why I don't do it very often
치즈다이몬드 yes you understand! and thank you beautiful 😊
Do u like kpop? I'm asking that because of youre name 😂
J. Hypolite I can relate lol I have thick hair too and protective styling saves major time girl just keep doing what works for you👍
Jenny Hyppolite I do😅 I had Korean friends so I kinda picked up on it
Oh my God so this beautiful lady is gone😥😥😥REST IN PERFECT PEACE MY DEAR
nappy is so derogatory but you have turned it around in a positive way. congratulations. . and your right bc I'm chocolate with 3c type hair. my mom is 4c. she says I have hair like my grandfather.. her dad. shrugs. DNA..
Hella inspired me.😭 You will be missed💛✨🙏🏿
You made me know about rooted castor oil, thank you .
Rest in peace!!
may God help your family to handle the unbearable new.
Your hair is so pretty, and you are gorgeous, sis.
African Child thank you ❤️
girl you are beautiful!
@@AnastasiaLUVSU bruhhh
@@j.elixir6089 I know it sounds messed up. But people need to just let them do what they want. If you had 4c hair it would aggravate you too.
@@AnastasiaLUVSU I'm sure it would be more challenging, but it's no problem to encourage laying off heat sometimes. Only so that it can remain healthy because it is fragile
My hair is going to look just like this when i reach your length
I absolutely love this video especially being someone who has 4C hair and have been natural for almost a year! So far through my journey I have been trying to find the perfect products for my hair and this video gives great tips! My protective style is definitely box braids and I've seen growth over time...I thought I never would. Thank you for this vid!!!
We can birth a rainbow of babies! Our wombs are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get! 😉 Beautiful family!
Rest peacefully, Queen. 🙏🏾😢
Lee Hilllary Thank you 😊💕
I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel! Every time I search for how to grow 4C hair, NOTHING comes up! Only how to grow 4B! I'm so glad I found someone else with the same hair type to help make it easier to grow my hair!😊🙃
Your hair is 4c, I think some people are confused because many people think all 4c hair are fine strands, to me it looks like you are 4c with thicker/coarse hairs strands which appears to be a different hair type, but it's not, it's 4c...I have 4C hair but my strands are not coarse they are fine/thin.
coreenamusic Yes I agree, my hair is a mix of very coarse thick strands and also fine thin strands but I can imagine how different my hair would be if I had the majority of just one type.
coreenamusic my hair is the same, but i have all type four hair types
I'm 4c too! Just getting to know my hair is making me happy it's showing progress
i really needed this vid. I didnt realize that 4c was the most prone to breakage and being dry. I was screwing my hair up badly blowdrying it all the time.
Thank you for this video! I have 4c hair, but have experienced serious breakage with increased job stress and cortisol levels... Back to basics!
4c hair goddess
Rest in peace girl.... Even though you won't see this but at least I have informed some people
True 4c gets knots anyway and it coils at the ends. The cool thing about our hair is that it keeps its shape.
RIP QUEEN 🥺❤️
XXX.
you give me inspiration that I can grow my 4c hair thick and long. your hair is gorgeous!
What does skin tone have to do with hair texture? 😂
Simone Wade I've definitely heard ppl say lighter skin tones have "good hair" smh
Simone Wade when you don't know any better, that's what you think
I think she made a mention of skin color because people don't believe her hair is 4c because of her very light skin stone especially when her hair is stretched and styles. She mentioned her sisters complexion to illustrate that she is not half black/half white. She is trying to explain to those that tell her she is mixed.
Simone Wade some people are ignorant trust me
it does I have people ask me all the time did I get a perm or is that my natural curl pattern.
Omg thank you someone has finally spoke on trimming. I've been trying to say that❤️
Hair goals!!!
Hi I'm a new subbie! Please do a video on your porosity and what your favourite products are!!!! I think your hair is beautiful!
My heart lit up when you said you felt like you could go take pictures right now and felt like a model I love that!!❤️️
i am so glad i found your channel!!! your hair is soo big and beautiful. could you do a video on the style you have in your intro i love that look😍😍😍
I'm glad too thank you and of course =)
Napp Queen yes please, your everyday go to style. When you say you keep it stretched all the time, could you show that please. I'm really new tryna learn my 4c/4b and it's frustrating
I look to you
I am 12 years old
I am also 4c hair type
I am also tall
I never liked being tall
I feel like a giant
But now that i see how beautiful you are
I am about 5'5-5'6
Sounds short, but in my body of a 7th grader,I feel tall
Most cute boys are shorter then me
Hey my daughter is around your height 7th grade, I am tall 5'9.5" became a model in high school just take care of your body. Eat well and my high school everyone will be swooning.
I’m 5,5 too almost 5,6 I feel like a giant too and I have 3c or 4a
I_diss_gurll _mami_me dont focus on cute boys yet :( you are young, give them and yourself time to GROW :)
Focus on your education, and self love!! Relationships will come later. ❤️
sometimes people dont understand the diversity WITHIN our ethnicities. even though we have a beautiful rich history (which pops up in genes now and then) light skin does not automaticallt mean you are "mixed" or "biracial" in the modern day sense. my family is very similar to yours and my older sister has the same complexion as you. you're confidence is so beautiful and it glows inside out!
La Gente yes thank you! I included my fam in this video to show just that. Many people doubted my hair was 4C because of my complexion, but complexion has nothing to do with hair type. You can be light as white with 4C and dark as night with 3B it all depends on your genes
Napp Queen Snap!
People tell 4c girls that their hair isn't 4c because our hair isn't expected to grow long and thick 😒
you have gorgeous hair I'm going to stop cutting my hair!
your hair is beautiful so glad to see natural curly hair make a comeback my hair is naturally curly thick and course im sick of seeing strait hair
I love going back and watching all of your videos Napp Queen 😍🙌🏾👑 A1 forsure
I stopped trimming as well. I am so glad to have come across this video. Thank you!
I agree with you: You could DEFINITELY go and take some lit pictures with that hair! Your hair is so beautiful!
I am on the light side and have extremely "nappy" 4c-d hair that I relax.
rip beautiful ❤️ you mattered and you will live on through your fans😞
You're 5'10"? I'm 6' you are my hair goals. Also- eyebrows on fleek. I need to go to the store.
Thinking of you RIP QUEEN🌻
This is gold and so accurate!!! I learned the hard way on my 4b/4c hair.
except I do need to trim. learned that the hard way too.
Please make more videos!!
she is literally a replica of solange
yesss I love this representation of 4c hair that we rarely see
I'm sorry but I really dislike it when people refer to 4c hair as nappy
roxii rose But it is. its the worst of the 4 category.
It's literally a descriptive term, it's not negative unless you make it negative.
AnastasiaLUVSU 4c hair is beautiful too
So
AnastasiaLUVSU you’re sick. its one of the prettiest diverse hair textures on earth.
please made her video on how you lay your edges
I have 4c type hair which is at my ears length. I want to know which hair regimen you noticed the most hair growth from during a short time frame
You are beautiful !! The real definition of a queen
Rest in Peace Napp Queen. This is so sad.💔
I could not help but giggle a little at the beginning when you talked about how some people do not believe that you have 4c hair. When you say "maybe because I am light skin" I flat lined at that part. I also talked about hair growth on my RUclips channel. Your hair is nice.
Do you have a video of how you stretch your hair ? I would love to see how you do it ..
Rest.In.Paradise Beautiful Angel you are so beautiful, inside and out 💓😇🕊
Omg... I went to middle school with your sis breanna... small world!
Awesome tips too.. thanks girl!
