KH. Abdul Karim or often called Mbah Manab (1856 - 1954) was a scholar who founded the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School located in Lirboyo Village, Mojoroto District, Kediri City, East Java. In 1908, he married the daughter of Kiai Sholeh, Banjarmlati, Kediri named Siti Khodijah alias Nyai Dhomroh. Kiai Abdul Karim was also known to be at the forefront of fighting the invaders, one of which can be seen when he sent his students to the Battle of Surabaya and the resistance against the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) in Kediri and its surroundings.
