Love my Beatles and my Elvis both equally. Anyhow, Elvis does this song beautifully as well, maybe take a listen if you haven’t already. Beautiful song, love it.
The Beatles at the top of their game. Great songwriting and great playing. This may be Paul's best bass-line, and the guitar solo is prototype for tastefulness, feel, and serving the song. I'll take that over all the shredding in the world any day.
It’s so great watching your journey to greatness as music aficionado. Watching that first time and hearing the greatness brings me back to my first experiences. You have that spark and open mind and a joy about you. When you did your top ten 2 weeks ago, I can see the influences as you learn more bands. I commented on that and said that The Beatles, Zepplin, and Grateful Dead have been in the top three for me for decades and I also have Hendrix tied for third just because. The Beatles are one of the most influential geniuses of our time. You must go down the Beatles rabbit hole and take the journey through their growth. I still love the White Almbum as one of my favorites but Sgt Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, Abbey Road.... it just doesn’t get better.
A ton of artists have covered this is the second most covered song by the Beatles (Yesterday is the first one). And this was written by George Harrison
Beatles songs are very often covered by others. Everyone has covered them, even The Supremes. The Beatles were a phenomenon that is very difficult for people to understand today.
This is my absolutely favourite Beatles song. George Harrison showed on many occasions that he had developed into a top class song writer and none more so than this song. Even Frank Sinatra called it “the greatest love song of the past 50 years”. Sadly, his girlfriend in the video, Patty Boyd who he ended up marrying, eventually ended up with his best mate, Eric Clapton. Even so, beautiful lyrics and vocals and amazing musical arrangement. The guitar solo is a masterpiece.
honestly, if there's a song you hear the Beatles play and you have to ask "Did someone else sing this?" chances are yes and the Beatles are the writers. Especially in their later stuff. In their earlier stuff they did some covers as well to pay respect to artist they loved like Little Richard, they even covered "I can hear the bells" from Music Man. Ooh! I saw Paul live too! I actually was fortunate to see him twice.
This song was inspired by the James Taylor song! SOMETHING IN THE WAY SHE MOVES. James Taylor was the first artist The Beatles signed to their RECORD LABEL -- APPLE RECORDS! . :-)
The Beatles wrote almost all of their recorded songs. Paul McCartney and John Lennon were the most prolific song writers in the history of music. In the early days, they recorded a few songs by other artists, like Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally, and Chuck Berry's "Roll over Beethoven," and a few others. But after that, it was other artists and Bands, doing covers of their songs.
They are far from the most prolific song writers. Between them they wrote about 200 songs. Not all of them were hits. Carole King wrote at least 118 songs that charted. The Beatles had about 80 that charted and about 10 of those were not written by John, Paul, or George. Carole's been writing songs professionally since about 1957 and hasn't stopped. One of her songs has been recorded 3 times , by 3 different artists, in 3 different decades and has reached #1 twice and #3 once. Dolly Parton has written about 3,000 songs. Steve Allen (comedian and former Tonight Show host) wrote about 6,500 songs. Paul and John between them have probably written the most #1 hits but it's close.
Lots of artists have done a cover of this song because this song really does a number on the heartstrings. The ladies in the video were Yoko "couldn't sing to save her life" Lennon, Linda McCartney with Paul, Patty Boyd with George (who was the scandal behind the song Layla by Eric Clapton) (and let's just say her bed was rarely cold or doing any shaming, I just want to know what kind of muse she was.) and I'm uncertain as to who was with Ringo at the time but he landed Daisy Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard in real life a bit later. I recommend the movie about George Harrison called Living in the Material World because it goes really in depth into his Beatles days and in to his last days. Great movie and a very interesting guy who needed to break out of the Beatles shadow to make his own way.
This has been covered by multiple artists. It is actually the second most covered Beatles song after Yesterday. This is a George Harrison composition and unlike the Lennon-McCartney songbook his estate still owns the copyright.
I love this song, am very familiar with it, have listened to it ever since it was first recorded. Unfortunately, it did not play on RUclips or on Patreon. But that's OK, the song is now running in my head, and I'm sure you loved it!
For me this song is their best one . It’s exquisite , all of it from the music to vocals and the expression of emotion , all put together is the pinnacle of what a song should be and make you feel .💛
"Shes leaving home" is my of my favorite Beatles songs. People who dog the Beatles are stupid. They are the greatest band ever or at least one of them.
One of my favorite Beatles songs and my favorite George Harrison song, along with "Hear Comes the Sun." Frank Sinatra stated that his song, "Something" is the greatest love song ever written. Pattie Boyd was one of the greatest muses in all of musical history. She inspired George to write this song.
I interviewed Paul in Vancouver bc which I live there I work in the video production industry his entertainment company hired us to do a profile on him what a very nice unbelievable human being
Shame this one was blocked. 'Something' is surely one of the best musical tributes ever written by a man to a woman. It's one of the most covered of all the Beatles songs. And unlike 99% of Beatles hits, it isn't a Lennon-McCartney composition - George Harrison more than held his own with two of the world's best songwriters. Respect to you George!
Yep - written by Beatle George. According to Frank Sinatra, another legend, it was one of the greatest love songs. (And Paul's bass on this song, and the entire album, is worth attention.)
I saw Paul Mc Cartney twice in Atlanta and once in Tampa. I had to be told by my mom that my daughter and me made it onto one of his videos on his dvd. I also saw Ringo Starr in Melbourne FL
Maan we appreciate the videos I've been watching ur videos and its non of my business Brother Jamal it seems like u wanna kinda shed a tear and my brotha I feel the same cuz I miss my girlfriend but either way thank u for all these videos and ur words on life
Fun fact: the girl in the opening of the video is the “Layla” that Eric Clapton sang about (her real name is Patti Boyd). She was the wife of his good friend George Harrison (of the Beatles).
The song is George's tribute to his wife Pattie. Later, George's good friend Eric Clapton fell in love with Pattie and wrote 'Layla' as his cry of passion for her - if you have't heard it, you are in for an experience. Later, after Eric had married Pattie, he wrote 'Wonderful Tonight' as a tribute to her. Again, if you haven't heard that, I think you would enjoy it.
This song has been covered by Joe Cocker, Billie Eilish, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and James Brown. Paul has also performed this song in his own shows. He also performed it with Eric Clapton at the Concert For George.
I have always loved this song. Such a beautiful melody!! To answer your question, different artists have covered it like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Billie Eilish, Ray Charles and a lot more... but to be honest the original is the best! Beatles always in my heart 💗
Something is a George Harrison song and Paul McCartney play Something with an ukulelel in show in memory of his friend. Many people cover Something like Frank Sinatra.
The Beatles literally created the concept of music videos. They submitted Paperback Writer and Rain as videos to Ed Sullivan Show. They stopped playing live for many reasons.
elvis, brian may from queen, billie eilish, and many others have done covers of this. George Harrison's wife in this video is actually the "Layla" that Eric Clapton so famously sings about. George and Eric were good friends, but Eric Clapton fell in love with George's wife, and eventually she left George for Eric Clapton...after some time, George and Eric Clapton did reconcile as friends.
You mentioned real love, the "reunited" Beatles released a song called "Real Love" which I think you would enjoy! It is based on a John Lennon track that Paul, George, and Ringo added to and completed for the Anthology series.
George is my favorite Beatle. Something and Here Comes the Sun were my favorite Beatles songs as a kid {still are} it wasn't until I was older that I found out they were both Harrison songs. Blue Jay Away is another great track by George.
When I saw Paul McCartney live he played this song with George Harrison's ukulele in a simpler/faster version and it's beautiful, maybe that's the version you remember :)

One of their biggest classics by George ....LOVE!!!
Another George Harrison Great song, but post-Beatles is "What is life."
You'll love the sentiment!
Count me as one who can't view because it had exceeded its number of views, but I'm still happy you returned to them, and hopefully you loved it!
According to Wiki it had been covered by 150 different artists within 10 years, ie by 1979 ...... and no doubt many, many more since.
Going to keep suggesting this! Please try Isn't It a Pity from the Concert for George. Eric Clapton, Billy Preston and so on. Great work brother!
YES!!!!
Jamel everytime I watch one of your videos, the collection on your wall and desk grows extensively 😊
honestly, if there's a song you hear the Beatles play and you have to ask "Did someone else sing this?" chances are yes and the Beatles are the writers. Especially in their later stuff. In their earlier stuff they did some covers as well to pay respect to artist they loved like Little Richard, they even covered "I can hear the bells" from Music Man.
Ooh! I saw Paul live too! I actually was fortunate to see him twice.
Everybody covered this song.
I read once that it was the most covered song in history.
This song was inspired by the James Taylor song! SOMETHING IN THE WAY SHE MOVES. James Taylor was the first artist The Beatles signed to their RECORD LABEL -- APPLE RECORDS! . :-)
One thing that goes almost unnoticed in this song is the beautiful bass line.
Best Beatles song imo. George was always my favorite. His song Someplace Else makes me cry for stupid reasons.
My favorite Beatles song. George Harrison masterpiece. I've had that guitar riff stuck in my head many times.
George Harrison wrote it for his wife Patty , but it has been covered many times by many artists
Those were the wives. About 5749 artists have covered this song. And it was George’s song.
All Beatles are my favorite, but this song is my #1 favorite 🥰🥰
For me this song is their best one . It’s exquisite , all of it from the music to vocals and the expression of emotion , all put together is the pinnacle of what a song should be and make you feel .💛
"NORWEGIAN WOOD" love that song. Makes you smile
Is that about sex, too? :)
They are indeed legendary...and for good reason!
"Shes leaving home" is my of my favorite Beatles songs. People who dog the Beatles are stupid. They are the greatest band ever or at least one of them.
I feel so blessed to have grown up with this music. Such a treat to see George and John at their best!
One of my favorite Beatles songs and my favorite George Harrison song, along with "Hear Comes the Sun."
Frank Sinatra stated that his song, "Something" is the greatest love song ever written.
Pattie Boyd was one of the greatest muses in all of musical history. She inspired George to write this song.
You may have seen Sir Paul cover this song on the ukele during one of his concerts. I've seen him many times and that is a staple of his show.
Gotta luv the Beatles! Luv all their songs!
One of the best songs ever made!!!❤️❤️
Maan we appreciate the videos I've been watching ur videos and its non of my business Brother Jamal it seems like u wanna kinda shed a tear and my brotha I feel the same cuz I miss my girlfriend but either way thank u for all these videos and ur words on life
Fun fact: the girl in the opening of the video is the “Layla” that Eric Clapton sang about (her real name is Patti Boyd). She was the wife of his good friend George Harrison (of the Beatles).
A god damned masterpiece.
The most beautiful love song ever! Gives me chills every time
Absolutely, one of their greatest
Don’t even worry about putting it on RUclips man. You owe it to yourself as a music lover to give their FULL CATALOG a listen. Peace and love
Frank Sinatra covered it. He felt it was the greatest love song ever.
My favorite Beatle's song of many, many fantastic songs! This or Yesterday
If you saw Paul in concert he sings Something during his concert as an tribute to Georges Harrison.
George is my favorite Beatle. Something and Here Comes the Sun were my favorite Beatles songs as a kid {still are} it wasn't until I was older that I found out they were both Harrison songs. Blue Jay Away is another great track by George.
This might be the perfect song
Harrison wrote the song. It's been covered by a lot of artists over the decades.
Definitely one of their best.
The Beatles late years music was great. You should check out some of Paul and Wings stuff out as well
Also Paul's bass playing on this is spectacular.
Elvis famously covered this song in Hawaii live. You should definitely check that out. ✌
*Just about everyone covered this song.... THE GREATEST BAND EVER, BAR NONE!!!!*
The most beautiful Beatle song IMO.
When I saw Paul McCartney live he played this song with George Harrison's ukulele in a simpler/faster version and it's beautiful, maybe that's the version you remember :)
My Mum knew George and Paul as teenagers. This is my favourite look of George’s 😍
Great song, written by Paul Mccarthy and John Lennon. Elvis also covered it later
Thank you su much Jamal, i watched your video for free even RUclips didn't want!!
(English isn't my first language, sorry)
You loved that guitar riff in there after the bridge, and that was all George. He was one fabulous guitarist.
