  • Sheng Pu erh, or Raw Puerh, is oftentimes pressed into a bing (cake), zhuan (brick), or tuo (puck) shape. It hails from Yunnan province. It's a great tea for aging, but also can be enjoyed when it's young. In this video, we demonstrate how to brew Sheng Puerh tea step by step in gongfu tea style or grandpa style. Feel free to adjust the tea brewing parameters so that you can enjoy a perfect sip for you!

Such a great video, thank you. Really liked the split shots and the accurate on screen annotations.
What led you to use less leaf ratio and longer brew times when brewing in Yixing? How does the tea compare between your gaiwan method and your Yixing one?

Thank you! I'm glad you found the video helpful. Your questions are good and very advanced!😁 That's why we've started making videos explaining how (the thought process) to brew different teas. For example, how to brew shu pu'er (ruclips.net/video/Glx2GzF9lIw/видео.html), or how to brew rock tea (ruclips.net/video/mX21b2wQPP0/видео.html). We will have more brewing videos explaining vessel differences in the future too. Stay tuned!

thank you! subscribed. what I don't understand is why the first infusion in yixing is 45 seconds, and gaiwan only 10? or is that a type error? (@6min 10 seconds in the video)

Hi Oscar. This is a really great question! It's mostly because of vessel size in this case, 115ml Gaiwan vs 200ml teapot. But keep in mind that vessel material and shape also play a role. Thanks for subscribing and keep steepin'!
