Yes sis you hit the nail on the head when you say that we have an instinct to worship God/Allah but we cover this up with the "worship" of other than God whether that be consumerism, celebrity worship, self worship, worship of some ism etc. Enjoyed this calm rational conversation from someone who is genuinely seeking an answer. Let me tell you the meaning of prayer NO.1 prayer creates a strong bond with ALLAH SWT NO.2 it is your physical exercise which means if you don't go to the gym and offer five times a day that would be enough for your mental and physical fitness. Regarding hijab and what some Muslims do that appear wrong outwardly, we encourage them to change without judgement realising that Judgement is for Allah alone. If He wills He will forgive them
We don't know their status with Allah despite the sin. We encourage good, foebid evil and ask forgiveness for our own shortcomings.

This is the key to the success of the Dawah in the UK. We need to have British Reverts at the forefront giving Dawah to their own.
With this approach there are fewer barriers to the message being received, by the permission of Allah(swt).
As Allah(swt) states in the Quran, Chapter 14, Verse 4:
And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Sahih International
The wisdom in this is that the People can identify with the Messenger, which makes it easier for them to receive the message, by the permission of Allah(swt).

If I'm not mistaken, Imam Muslim went to a place where someone had a narration of a hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). When Imam Muslim arrived, he saw that person deceiving his animal by offering food in his hand to make it come closer. However, when the animal approached, it turned out his hand was empty. Because of this lie, Imam Muslim considered the person's narration not trustworthy and chose not to pursue it.

Even slaughtering an animal for food has rules to reduce suffering as much as possible.
Ibn ‘Abbas (may God be pleased with him) narrated that a man laid down a sheep (in preparation to slaughter it) while sharpening his knife. The Prophet told him, “Do you want to kill it twice? You should have sharpened your blade before laying it down.”

Many of the People of the Book wish that they could turn you back into unbelievers after you have believed, out of envy on their own behalf after the truth has become clear to them. So pardon and forgive until God brings about His command. Indeed, God has power over all things.

Just a wee advice or sayings to revert Muslims living in Europe or America. Don’t think to move or migrate to any other country especially so called Muslim countries. Europe and America is best place for practicing Muslim as there system supports a ordinary general citizen. By migrating you will face more hardships and challenges.
