I think, unfortunately for the British working class such as the miners and steelworkers, that it was another ambitious, driven woman who was doing that in 1984.
That’s the song that made her famous in my opinion. She was a hard worker no doubt. Unfortunately I never got a chance to see her in concert. So thank you RUclips you don’t even know how much this means to me. Being able to watch her concerts on here and just watching her grow up over the years. Maybe one day before she officially retires maybe she will come to the BJCC here in Alabama. Thank you again RUclips
Madonna and two dancers was her thing! I think future concerts should involve Madonna and two dancers! That would be all we need and would be classic Madonna ❤️ our Queen of pop! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
We went to see and be seen it was a cool place where you could be yourself and relax I went every Friday and Saturday from boring suburbia Knutsford. I wish I'd seen her but they were seeing HER for the first time and probably told to clear the dancefloor and maybe she was miming? .
When i watched this on the tube i sat and was dumb struck i wanted to know whos that girl ..lol no wonder none of the audience moved .. then me and my friend couldnt get enough we cut tshirts up and wore madonna outfits and the rest is history .. btw im a manc lol
This is not the kind of music they were used to at the Hacienda which was more inclined toward alternative bands. They could not get into the groove no matter how they tried. This is like watching wind up dolls.
They didn't like the music. Apparently they ended up booing and throwing things at the stage. They preferred alternative rock and electronic music, not dance music.
@@konstantinekurelias This wasn't the sort of music they liked. They were into music like Blue Monday by New Order at the time. Very dark, alternative rock/electro music, not optimistic dance music.
This sounds like an overdub for this video and not what people heard in the Club. Was she singing live then? If it was playback, no wonder nobody was impressed.
After that performance she turned up at Mike Pickering's house with boyfriend/manager to rest...the other end of Ryebank road where i lived at the time🙂
Correct. But this particular gig was filmed in Manchester at the Hacienda. That week half of the show came from Newcastle as usual and the other half from Manchester. Madonna has never performed in Newcastle sadly.
Danced on that dancefloor many times back in the day. Her Manchester Hacienda appearance was a tough one by all accounts.
so was the paradise grarage one. but she had to start someplace.
She changed the world with this

Madonna's brother Christopher is one of her back-up dancers here - he passed away on 10/4 at only 66 - RIP

Who's here to have an idea how The Haçienda looked like?
Saw it live when it was house music. Sorry you younger ones missed it ❤️
Madonna’s brother is the male back-up dancer. He wrote in his book how strange that the audience was preppy and never moved.
They didn't like this style of music.
@@ajs41 Well, it was ahead of it's time. 18 months later, guitar bands were finished. Not even Hacienda was booking them
@@chrisjames6327 Yeah. No guitars any more. Everybody hates them.
@@ajs41 which is funny because this is the exact type of music, vibe and energy that inspired the hacienda to be made in the first place
ha ha ha Manchester preppy?????
Fantastic video. Well done! We really enjoyed it.

.
Madonna has danced on the same stage as me, good times, never forget FAC51.
Transmissions the podcast brought me here.
And me 😂
I've heard an interview about the crowd at the Hac not liking the fact it was mimed. They responded in that famous moody Manc fashion :)
I was in the crowd...yes...she didn't go down well...but I secretly like her performance ❤😂
Madonna, just fearless, wasn’t to bothered about us lot in the crowd just getting on with it..😁
Honestly where you there
I bet you are the one who launched a drink can at her lol. Jokes but apparently that did happen.
Madonna is great.
My father was at this gig. Was 23 back then turned 24 the following December
I remember watching this, waiting for New Order to come on, thinkin', f*ck me ! she's fit ! Madge.
+tindaloot I remember rushing home to watch Madonna. She was new out then and I was intrigued. I've been a fan ever since.
Manchester
bernard sumner book brought me here, really mancunians doesnt impress easily
Born to be a superstar
I was there!❤❤❤❤
wow 1984… Hacienda club become apartment now

it's 27 January 1984. (NOT February 1983)
Yeah, her brother says so on his audio book.
crowd seemed bored......I don't blame them. I would have given anything to see NEW ORDER at the Hacienda. (Hooky's book brought me here)
ARE YOU SERIOUS PAL, IF YOU HAD UP IN YOUIR FACE You'd CHANGE YOUIR NIND,. UNLESS???
Me too =) (about book)
Of course they're bored. She's completely talentless.
@@JRStephens5005 Yes, she is completely talentless as she admits on her way to the bank to deposit her millions.
@@jackanthony976 She was popular with teen girls, not 20 to 25 year old rock fans like this audience.
💯👏👑🎶🇵🇪
Keep fit work out bliss
Why was nobody in the crowd dancing?
because they're vanilla and lame.
@Mike V. HAHAHAHAHA!!

RUN for your life, Madonna from 1983!!

random William Shatner cameo LOL
The crowd looks like zombies lol.
Maybe they didn't care for the show.
