One of my favorite Bruins teams of all time. What a fun year this team had. They were just so fun to watch and acquiring Coyle and Johansson seemed like perfect moves. It hurt me for over a year about this Stanley Cup loss and honestly it still stings to this day. Don't think I'll ever get over it, this team was awesome.
@@allghilliedup21 it hurts a lot more to lose in the final than you think. Sure im fortunate to see my favorite team go to the finals 3 times, but seeing them lose is absolutely heartbreaking
@@allghilliedup21 Yeah, I know what you're saying, but I've seen them go five times and lose four. That's almost as bad as the Buffalo Bills. Besides the only thing that matters is the winning, and the B's have lost in the Finals a million times.
As Blues fan. Couldn't have been more honored to have gone up against the toughest team to play against. Contrary to some other fans, I absolutely love Marchands play. When in town the 1 or 2 times each year against Boston. I make sure to set aside money for a great seat. No matter the year. The Boston Bruins are always terrific barometer of where my Blues stand as a team. They are tough, talented, and as presented in this video, resilient. Thank you HG for acknowledging this 2019 Boston team.
It was a heartbreaking loss, but that 2011 cup makes all our failures a bit easier to swallow. I’m excited for our future core in McAvoy, Pastrnak, Studnicka (hopefully),Carlo and DeBrusk.
That Boston/Columbus series was brutal. It was so rough I was sure someone was coming out with a serious injury. I think ultimately, the roughness of that series hurt Boston when they played St Louis. STL pretty much physically dominate Boston and it's now the template to beat Boston.
The 18/19 Bruins were one of my favorite teams to watch. Non-stop entertainment. Just like you said Shannon, hen the Stanley a cup Final came, I just got this out. And knew what was gonna happen. But when Boston won Game 6 it felt so good. But losing at home is the worst.
part of me thinks the injuries to Marchand (hand injury during pre-SCF scrimmage, smh) and Pastrnak (hand injury following a night out) killed the Bruins during this Final. not to mention the headhunting by STL (Bortuzzo, Sundqvist come to mind) which led to the narrative that the Blues were the "bullies" against a more skilled Bruins team, flipping the script from the 2011 Final.
@Fight Me Yep, there’s always someone like you that says “cry more” to someone making a pretty tame comment and then proceeds to whine more than OP ever did.
Even if the refs call that trip, there's a 75% chance the Blues kill off that penalty and win the game 1-0. The Blues didn't steal the game. The refs robbed Boston of an OPPORTUNITY. There's a big difference.
Never understood the hate Rask seems to get, if anything bothers me it's that sometimes the other players seems to play as if the third period doesn't matter. I've seen too many games where they blow a lead or let a blowout become a close game because they don't skate the final 20 minutes. I loved everything about the 2019 run and while I was pulling for Boston them losing to St. Louis made it sting less cause I've always enjoyed watching the Blues in their own right too and that Cup win was such a feel good story for them.
It also helped the Bruins that the best team they faced in the East was Toronto. They played both wild card teams in rounds 2 and 3. Respect to Columbus and Carolina for advancing, but they weren't as tough of opponents as Tampa or Washington would have been for Boston.
I felt bad for you when you took all the criticism for your fandom of Boston last year. I also have rooted for Boston since 2010 which are my second favorite team and St. Louis is my #1 team. I took flack too in St. Louis for my fandom of Boston.
I feel this was their last shot at a Cup with this core group. They will have to do a rebuild with Beecher..Studnicka..and likely Frederic as their new top 3 centers. Then a revamped blueline led by McAvoy and Grzelcyk. And Swayman as the new #1 goalie!!
Cant understand the apathy to Rask, I never liked Boston but some of Rasks play was insane in that post season. If Boston had won he'd be conn smythe worthy for sure. Also I remember the old battle of Ontario well, about as much a battle as the 80's Oilers vs Jets. You knew who'd win, just not how many games it would take. Boston now giving Toronto some of the same medicine.
That one hurt the most, history remembers the Leafs as being shit and the Bruins crushing them easily, In reality the leafs outplayed the bruins every game except Game 7, and crapped themselves in the most important game. Whatever. It was meant to be
I dispute your claim that Bruins fans wouldn't have given Rask credit. He was playing like nails for most of the playoffs and had he not had a putrid game seven or didn't give St Louis the advantage after letting in that OT goal in game 2, people would have poured praise on Rask and give the man his due as he overcame his playoff demons. But yet again, Bruins fans (myself included) fell for the banana in the tailpipe and Rask crumbled in what was arguably his last real playoff run as an elite goalie. Not that there weren't other problems that led to the Bruins blowing that cup run, there were many. That said, the way the Bruins tried to build the team where an elite goalie was the focal point on the team rather than pay for improving the D Core and get by with a decent goalie like St Louis turned out to be the Bruins undoing. And it's a shame.
So STL is just before TBL in alphabetical order, and 2 of Shannon’s favourite teams BOS & DAL lost in the finals. So does this mean that this year TOR beats VAN in the finals? I hope not.
Boston got so screwed in that game 5. A bunch of missed calls, including one blatant chop block that lead to the eventual game winning goal for the Blues seconds later. Was bitter about that finals lose because of that game.
When you mentioned playlists, I went through them and you forgot to make a 2021 season prewiev on panthers. Not the one you do now, but the ones you did just after team got out of playoffs
Rask coulda been a Giguere (don't know how to spell it) style losing conn Smyth. People were picking him as Boston's mvp the whole time. There's a narrative out there that "Boston fans" are cold, but I don't use Twitter so all I see is Canadian teams booing there own teams and players and throwing there jerseys on the ice.
Meh. This bruins team was good but lets be real. This was their last real chance to win the cup with this core. It was wide open in 2019. Tampa, Washington, Pittsburgh all would've beat them had they not gotten beat (I know Pittsburgh is debatable). The end result was this team going way further than they ever deserved to go and choking in the end when they finally faced a bigger, tougher opponent. It all culminated into a big, empty, emotional disappointment on home ice where they didn't even bother to show up against St. Louis. And Rask deserves the criticism he gets. Every year his window of playing well dwindles smaller and smaller. He'll usually play really bad for a stretch then really good then really bad again. When he's hot, he's elite and easily a top 5 goalie in the league, but he's wildly inconsistent throughout the year. He's terrible in closeout games and in the biggest games he always shits his pants. TLDR: 2019 was the biggest emotional disappointment in Bruins history and their last shot at a cup for a long time.

I guess the Hockey Guys do have a sick sense of humor when it comes to you and cheers you consider your favorite.
I thought you might point out given recent videos that this team roster did not have a single top 10 draft pick. Highest were Debrusk and McAvoy, 13s.
Also an odd stat from the 2019 playoffs. Any team that swept an opponent, lost the next round.

In order for the leafs to not suck in 7, they'd need to lose in 6

Losing in Game 7 of the finals is not choking. I can’t believe people actually think that. Game 6 in 2013 is the definition of a choke.
