Hello, some in the comments say that Tuvans are not Turkic. As a Turk, I would like to clarify this. Yes, Tuvans are one of the Turkic peoples and they live in Siberia. There are 5 groups in Turks. Kipchak, Oghuz, Karluk, Siberian and Oghur Turks. The Tuvan Turks you see in the video are Siberian Turks. If you come to the appearance, if you say why most Turks don't have slanted eyes like them, the physical characteristics of each group are slightly different. For example, we Oghuz Turks (Turkmen, Azerbaijani, Turk) have less slanting eyes than other Turks because we are Oghuz height and Oghuz do not have slanting eyes. The Kipchaks are more slanting than the Oghuzes, and we can observe that the Turks there are more slanting when moving from the Middle East-European region to Asia. As a result, Tuvas, Turks of Turkey, Kazakhs, in other words, they are all Turks. Only their regions are different, and over time most of them have been assimilated. It is true that Tuvans are similar to Mongols because most of them were assimilated by the Mongols, but if you look at the language of a Tuvan you can find many Turkic words. Thanks.

It is sort of unsettling, if I think too much about it, to see chopped-off hair and unified one-for-all haircuts. Hair holds power and - lush, long and braided - it was a crucial part of a Tuvan's everyday attire, men and women alike. Braids symbolised health and social status. Not only that, my grandma tells of an outdated belief that picturing a person, whether it be on a drawing or a photograph, was for the deceased, so documenting the living was frowned upon back then. I wonder if these people had a say in the process of shooting, did they realise that their faces will forever be captured in history. I'm guessing the monochrome footage is from when Sovietization first took place. Agitpropaganda, collectivization times. It's actually fascinating to see the records of old times. Rare, so very much exciting and treasurable. They come from just a century ago, but we Tuvans struggle with the history of our people as it is. I want to know every depicted person's story, how was their life, how did they like the sudden changes in their routines and surroundings, what were their burdens and brightest achievments, where are their descendants now? What are The links and traces to prove their existence, besides these very folk song and video sequence?

The word dyngyldai is a nonsense term with no translation.
The song makes good-humored fun of somebody for being a good-for-nothing.
    Lyrics:
Riding on a grey horse the color of the sky,
    Aren't you the prancing fool?
With your serrated stirrups, you're so annoying,
    Clanking them into people, jeez!
Whatever am I going to do with you?
You can't be fixed or spruced up.
If only you were a nice goatskin blanket
Maybe some fixing or sprucing could happen!
Whatever am I going to do with him?
He can't be traded or exchanged.
Now if he were a knife and flint,
There might be some dealing to be done.
