  • Thanks for watching, and hope you enjoyed this bunch of old Super 8mm sound movies taken in 1977-1978 of early Conrail in the Bethlehem Allentown PA area.
These are from my vast collection I have taken over the years since 1975. The quality is no where close to the images of cameras of today, but these images, especially in live sound, will never be repeated again and mainline railroading.
Please be sure to check out many other video clips from the 1970's up to today. I'm sure, there is something there that will please everyone.
    God Bless

Love these clips. Some of these locations are just minutes from where I was born and raised. I was 10 in '78, so it really stirs up the memories. We moved to Alburtis in '79, one block up and over from the Iron Horse and the train action got even better! Thank you!

I enjoy watching these older train videos more so than the new stuff. Guess it's because I did most of my own train watching in the '50s, '60s and '70s when living in Baltimore. Thank you for sharing your home movies and no need to apologize for lapses in sound. We didn't have much in the way of video recording devices back then. Super 8 with sound was considered top-of-the-line. Just glad you had a chance to record some railroad history from back then.

The only thing left of the Conrail era that I see nowadays is the shared assets line, with has CSX and NS both on it. Make NO mistake, it's Conrail employees driving those trains, though. They're not CSX or NS employees.
