    Another fine vlog. Really informative and well put together, shame manufacturers don't send their boys to you, so you can train them. Keep up the great vlogs always good content.

      Thanks, really appreciate it, there must be a good reason for it, tune into caravan radio, I’m hoping to get to talk to one of the designers at Swift to find out why they have to make it like that..

    Great insight 👍.
    If only the manufacturer's took that much time 😮.
    Quantity before quality 🤔.
    Do agree why doesn't the roof overlap the side?.
    Will defo be checking our swift.

    Thanks for another excellent video. On the subject of The Cant rail, what do you make of the top edge of recent Adria caravans, with cross head screws on show (if you look from above), screwed into an aluminium strip / maybe awning rail and open to the elements! It makes Swifts Cant rail look thorough. I have a photo of this available.

    Thinking about your thoughts on why the roof doesn't overlap the sidewall, perhaps its to do with the awning rail loading with an awning attached. with the existing way its built you have a full height sidewall to fix an awning rail to, with your suggested idea with the roof panel sitting on top of the sidewall you wont have the same solid area to fix a rail to and will have a join. just a thought

      Maybe, but I would think it would be screwed down from the top giving just as much strength?

    Great video. Why do swift not overlap the roof. It does not make sense

  • @beccabeme
    @beccabeme 3 месяца назад +2

    It wouldn't be too difficult for the manufacturer to make the roof panel the width of the caravan and machine a slot in the underside of the roof for the walls to fit in to.
    Would still need the cant rail though, but would vastly reduce any potential water ingress.

      Yes, I was going to do a little drawing showing that, but I forgot, that would stop the problem, the cost of doing it must be less than the cost of warranty claims, and no fed up customers to boot..

    Would this also be a problem with swift Motorhomes ?

      Good question, I don’t think so, I think the construction is different.

    ah ha someone else has noticed that manufacturers are making the clothe size smaller (sneaky way to save material and cost)🤣🤣🤣🤣 I thought that for some time, One other thing I have noticed bathroom scales as not as accurate as they used to be🤔🤔

    There is a you tube video of one of the top caravan manufacturers building one of their caravans and guess what! the roof overlaps the sides about 30mm and they then turn the roof panel over the sides. (100% watertight). Sorry but I can't remember the manufacturer's name.

    Could it just be that caravan manufacturers don’t want to make these vans last a long time just so we fear all these problems happening to us so we upgrade every 3 years and if you don’t your 30k+ investment becomes virtually valueless or costs us a massive repair bill.

    • @atlanticcaravansUK
      @atlanticcaravansUK  3 месяца назад

      I think that if the warranty wasn’t so long, if you bought this van new, you’d have a ten year ingress warranty on it, all these problems cost them money, unless they have insurance themselves, I don’t know?
