When Simon's on form, it's something else. That third game and the way he explains the importance of changing pawn structures and how to exploit them is a masterclass 👍👍👍👍👍
20:48 A lot of the time you see Re8 instead of Qe8 in QGD positions especially when white plays bishop d4, blocking the vision between the Queens. Vs here where white opts for a London setup.
I can't believe GM Roberto Cifuentes ducked out of a game. The guy has played chess all over the world, and at all levels, for decades ... yet an encounter with the Ginger GM is going a step too far.
Thank you Mr. Williams, it's such a pleasure to watch you play and explain. Generous man. (makes me wanna play the K.I.D again, I stopped because everyone & his brother has a defense against it, but it just looks so much fun when you do it)
51:10 "i couldn't find a good threat after my opponent tucked his king in the corner" getting your opponent to place his king in the corner is a positional achievement in the end game
Great content. I just started watching you and I definitely like your explanations. Keep up the great content and definitely make more speed run videos
My favorite game in this stream was the four knights Jobava London game 47:16, starting at 50:16 it gets funny, but the whole thing is entertaining. What part of London is Jobava located in anyway? Anywhere near Baker street, or is it near Wimbledon Village? Maybe a few trotters escaped from there?
I love the new activity on the channel, i’m binge watching everything again 👍if you could throw in a black lion from time to time it would be awesome 👍😃
11:10 the missed x-ray attack with bishop on B5 is haunting. There's three points on the pawn if he blocks with the C pawn. He moved his knight afterwards because he saw his weakness. You were late. Chess is just order of operations executed.
Probably lag. He moved at 9 seconds but the timer on the client side continued. When the move got registered the server updated the clock with the correct time.
Actually, the check just makes the king go to his desired square which imo is not a good use of a tempo so i do think you’re wrong about Qc5+ since it’s in white’s best interests to invest in a move for King safety rather than Black pulling the trigger and white will have to eventually respect this check threat.
@@faznaz7455 Of course this opinion can later be refuted, a neural network is a poor imitation of an actual human brain. They church those engines up for sponsorships and cash, for right now though my initial estimation seems viable
@@drewmckinney7843 Really? If that’s true then the reasoning behind provoking the king to h1 being more optimal is beyond me. As we say in chess, the threat is greater than the execution. Which means that there is no reason to provoke the king to a supposedly ideal square. But apparently there is something concrete that’s good for black. I’m sure a lot of titled players like Simon would also reserve giving the check.
@@faznaz7455 Engine takes knight with queen after check, opting for an exchange and a better king position for endgame, I would take with knight for more piece play. I would say engine's logic is more sound this time, all strategies should be based in endgame absolutes instead of capitalizing on human error
Now this is very instructive. Knight really stronger than bishop if bishop pair already gone. The knight on opponent's camp will restrict everything and open many tactical possibilities including checkmate. You should just exchange the bishop with the knight no matter how good the bishop look.
This video reminded me of why I gave up on Internet chess. How is the guy at 13:30 2400? It's not like he got a little nervous due to playing a GM; his whole play was weak move after weak move after weak move... Clearly some weak cheater who turned off his engine because he was scared of being under scrutiny.
nothing wrong with the london but its an opening of positional subtleties. i have the highest winrate with black against the london and exchange french because lazy people play it who just know one plan
Even after the volume totally off I can hear the nonstop talking without the smallest intention to a breath, its like a radio talkshow on steroids. Please relax just a little so we can enjoy your great chess ideas.
Aman from chess brah teaching everyone to never resign so now u just have poor sportsmanship games all over the online chess. Dont expect those people with 0 selfrespect to respect u
Teaching people not to resign cos they lose a piece is okay imo, you can still create threats with material on the board, but when you're down 5 queens and opponent has 6 different ways to mate you, that's when people should realize it's time
Yeah not resigning if you have any practical chances to draw is totally fair. I've seen strong GMs like Naroditsky and Robson struggle to mate with K and R against K under time pressure, not to mention all the stalemates Eric Rosen has pulled off when opponents are under time pressure. The only time it's inappropriate to play on IMO is if you're dead lost with no ways to complicate the position and where your opponent has plenty of time left. If you then purposely run your clock out to try to get your opponent to disconnect or walk away from the computer and miss your next move, sure that's against the spirit of the game. But playing on if you think you have a chance is part of the game. Edit: Also people taking a streamer's advice on resigning are probably at a low enough rating level that the eval is expected to swing throughout the game, so they really shouldn't be resigning.
@@dsrguru sure if you u have a chances of legit winning you can fight. im talking about cases when opp is dead lost, just hopping ridiculous moves in hope of blunder. i know its allowed by rules but i have no respect for such players. winning any way possible is not the point of a game. and Aman never said only never resign if you lowrated. he just keep on saying "never resign" every time he has a chance. its ruining a good game spirit. which is already became just a useless chase of rating points. what about enjoying a beauty of it, and playing for a great game, not necessary won game? we all are losers to an engines anyway, no human can really play chess well. its a proven fact. Watching this again 2 years later, fantastic stream, Simon is a legend of the game 🙏
GMs and their favorite piece
Fischer: Light squared bishop
Nakamura: knight
Ginger GM: Harry the H pawn
Naroditsky: King.. “difficult to win if you don’t have one” 😂
@@RaptureReady2025 unless you play the grubbage rules the king can't be captured😒
'did I just call myself strong? Well, someone has to', haha that's why we love you Simon ❤️

GET IN THERE SON! love your content as always sir
I love how you started explaining each potential move in detail especially in recent videos. It is just great and super helpful!
Love this stuff. My favourite chess youtuber EASILY. I don't have twitch so this is my only way to watch your content. Keep up the great work.
Hey dude you could simply open through lichess..since you do not have twitch it will open through website
@MrBeaks yeah I know.I meant you may watch through the twitch website itself. There is no need to download the app.
Great live commentary dude, you make every game interesting and I like how you highlight the instructive moments on the games good stuff
"Some of the animals are more equal than others" : the pigs explanations for when they move into the farmers house. George had a sense of humor. 48:19
Great stuff, Simon. Thank you for sharing your thought processes.

Simon, you are the master of explaining strategic ideas. You pack in so much instruction in a blitz game. Thank you!
I can't believe GM Roberto Cifuentes ducked out of a game. The guy has played chess all over the world, and at all levels, for decades ... yet an encounter with the Ginger GM is going a step too far.
He's probably burn out from " playing too much chess" lol
Or maybe it was the jet lag 🙄
"I can win a pawn safely, but I am kind of thinking check mate is more fun" this made my day.
respect for the honest and good games! I like your style! bought the london course!!! cheers!

thank you ginger. this is the most mental banter chess i have seen so far.
Brilliant series Simon. Your explanations are excellent.
51:10 "i couldn't find a good threat after my opponent tucked his king in the corner"

I just have to hear Simon talking about Harry, and I am instantly entertained. I need to hear more about this great soldier.

The most entertaining streamer, hands down.
32:10 I thought you could have taken the pawn on g2 and won
And after that i think bishop b3 or a2 is a defense trying to reroute the bishop to defend g6 and h7
Agreed 👍
Love you and your commentating Simon
lovely content master 🤗🤗🤗
Take a shot every time he says: JobavaLondon
WHY NOT PLAY KNIGHT C3 AT 36:45 INSTEAD OF TAKING THE KNIGHT WITH THE ROOK?
This is what youtube wants to see. KEEP UP THE CONTENT!
True
Harry is my new favorite little buddy.
The third game was so satisfying to watch. A positional domination.

Well send him a cheque mate!!
Nice video👍👍 . I like the flavours you add in the video.
42:04 After 16. Qd3, Bxe5 17.dxe5 Black can't play 17... Qxd3 due to the Zwischenzug 18. exf6+ winning a piece.
What ‘s the difference between barry attack and jabov London?
10:16 you missed Queen C5 check, threatening the bishop after knight takes post-king move. It's a tempo move, always order of operations

pls make a mouse slip gambit video
Simon going OFF on this stream HOLY
5:45 instead of taking c4 pawn you also attack his f8 rook from c5
Really surprised you didnt know the fishing pole attack. Its kinda old
I just love it when he's excited - "booom". gingers are cool (fire is cool).
What is the name of the opening he uses in the first game? I suppose I can’t ascertain the proper spelling considering our lack of a mutual accent.
