Dude the most HORRIFYING part for me is that idle animation where it stands on two legs. a vile being forced to become some messed up crawling creature but every so often their able to have enough clarity to at least try and be human again. even if for just a moment, even if that moment is filled with agony and complete hopelessness of the situation that it is in, it gets to try. so messed up and perfect for this game
I think the Drifters are similar, occasionally they'll stop and look at their hands, a moment of clarity in their wretched existence. Maybe they're more... Volatile, unstable than drifters, and that's why they seem to randomly go in to seizures
They look so unnatural, like a creature that just shouldn't be able to live and yet it does. Like a drifter that's been stretched out, broken in several places and connected back together to make a new creature that at times fails to even just live without issue. (not to mention the fact that IF these things feel pain, then they must be in agony constantly)

I've been trying to explain to my friends this game and the best way to explain it is. Primitive survival building videos on youtube mixed with a creepy ass silent hill vibe. even the monsters being damned by god from their sins feels very silent hill and i love it.
I love how the noise it makes is just very clearly a person making clicking sounds into their microphone with their mouth XD funny sound design, horrific monster
I was playing with the game files I found every sounds and mucis of the game so when I saw the Shiver files (the creature in this video) I played every sounds of it, and because if raw and clear sounds, what you said is even more true ! That CLEARLY clicking sounds like that ! xDDD
Imagine them being kinda like weeping angels instead, using the standing animations when you look at them. But when you turn your back on them they hurdle towards you on all fours with some ungodly sounds. Or, alternatively, they'd be "activated" by noise or touch. So you'd have them spawn standing there, sometimes even several in a tight passage or room and you have to kinda sneak past them or you alert the whole swarm of them.
That kind of defeats the point of the game. It also kills the mood. You could find plenty of those on Minecraft even in modern updates there's a mod called mrcrayfish gun mod that adds a ton of that stuff. :)
Dunno about flamethrowers but there a firearms mod with muskets, guy behind it has mentioned maybe making a joke/god item version with rpgs and stuff. Unironically cool.
Interesting mob! They are surprisingly scary and feel the same idea niche as the Minecraft spider! Fast moving mobs that can climb walls and such dealing less damage in turn to fast attacks
I am both excited and also terrified for this update. The update looks like it promises more lore and story to the game while also bringing very deadly creatures to it. Still I think it's really cool, even for a preview this update already looks amazing. Now I wonder what type of music (if any) that Lo-Phi would add. :) You got my sub for sure though, I'll be looking forward to more update videos surrounding this game. :)

Can you answer the following questions (i know the mob will be tweaked later)?How common are they compared to drifters? Do they need rifts on the surface to spawn? Will they spawn during temporal storms? Can they fit through holes like 1x1, 1x2, 2x1 (height x width)? How many hits can full steelplate withstand the highest tier, how many hits can the shiver withstand form a steel falx, how many from a longbow?
1. They spawn about the same as drifters. They will appear out of rifts and spawn underground in caves 2. Been unable to test them, but if they dont spawn in temporal storms now they probably will by release 3. They fit through 1x2 holes like minecraft spiders 4. The stilt shiver was able to kill me in full steel plate in 5-7 hits. The steel falx took 9 hits to kill the stilt tier in return
Thanks for bothering my questions. Good editing by the way, presentig the horror of the mob, instead just showing them. What i am most curious about, is how will they spawn during temporal storms. If even high tier shiver would spawn, then this would force players building bunkers for this event, or if the storm catches you during wandering, dig a hole and wait it out. No more running around and throwing spears, just hiding in special trap bunker in order to farm. Perhaps its exactly what the developers want.
@@Tombi-x4tI can confirm that shivers appear during temporal storms. Normally you can manage to stay ahead of drifters during a storm because they are slow. Now with the shivers being fast enough to keep up (if not catch up) we will need to adjust our strategies
I hope they add potion making and stuff like magic, or at least limited magic. Or stuff like crude firearms. Definitely want a blunderbuss pointing at things like this.
I actually decided to hop onto the 1.20 Pre-release recently and after my first world just being wolf hell (like literally, in the span of 3 days, I got mauled by 5 wolves, and dodged two bears), I decided to start another save, thinking that one was cursed. I also enjoy playing with cave ins + gravity affecting dirt. I was not very happy when a cave in occured right next to my house, and 3 shifters suddenly came out of the pit in the morning... The bowtorn is also quite horrifying. And so while I am currently looking towards making copper tools very soon... I am also hard at work building a wall around that pit so that they stop crawling out of there.
The animation of it curling in on itself is just me during allergy season when I have to go outside. Jokes (and not jokes, allery season sucks) aside, holy fuck that thing is terrifing and rad!
This is NOT ok. I am used to the funny little homeless men that grumble & throw rocks at my head while I’m building not the fucking Xenogorgon Tyron take it back I’m scared 😭😭
This is some rain world kinda stuff, although i was definitely hoping for some better way of combat than the old run and slash we already have to deal with the wolves and besrs on steroids, i hope they make natural hostile mobs a bit more spread out and few since now we got these abominations hunting everything down

I still have 2 BIGS complains about them, first idk if it's me but they are TOO OP, even the weak one, it run so fast and hit you even if you non stop run and do so much damages, they come like multiple in rifts and they are so hard to doge, and my second complain is... they are WAY MORE dangerous than Drifters but they doesn't have unique loot, what the point of them if they just drop the sames things than Drifters ? Sometime I kill like 4 of them and none of them give loot (that a problem in this game too..) so yeah.. they still cool but need better !
the concept art made me think it might be something that stalks you more than actively pursue, but honestly i'm diggin the vibes regardless, largely due to the idle animations
Very excited to see how the development on the mobile! At first I won't lie i want very optimistic about it as it's very eldritch appearance just felt off compared to what I'm used to seeing ingame, it's started to grow on me after seeing it's interesting animations however and I'm interested in it's lore. I do agree with what other people are saying however and I hope they change it from being a common mob to perhaps the same rarity and danger as the different tiers of locusts, currently it feels like encountering it means you're gonna fight a miniboss and not something similar to our "friendly" drifters.
This new creature looks horrifying, I can't wait to face it. Although, I hope they come out with a combat update of some kind - it gets pretty stale having one attack for everything. The weapons don't feel distinct enough beyond raw damage and looks. Also, the Temporal Storms need a rework. I hate how the Drifters just spawn anywhere and everywhere, seemingly at random. It needs more structure.

Imagine if one of those kills you and then you get back to collect your items, there is more of them than before. you would think how, then you remember your corpse is nowhere to be found, and then you realize your corpse turned into one of those creatures If this where a feature it would be even more terrifying and the fact you have to find and kill the bug that has your stuff from your infected corpse monster and get your stuff is absolutely cruel but fair. Yea, no. I met this fella today and went googling on how to remove it. Found nothing, but thankfully renaming its json file in the game folder did the trick. It called Shiver if I recall correctly
the game was initially made as an eldritch horror survival game, but they had heavily focused on developing the survival aspect of it first. I get wanting it to be survival focused, but this is also meant to be a big part of the game at some point and they'll probably make it much more horrific in the next couple years. it's pretty much unavoidable.

Minecraft comes up with a glorified Weeping Angel mob, and Vintage Story shows an enemy that makes my skin crawl
