I love how your dog is just lounging on the couch like: "Dad's doing his thing with glass boxes of water again. I'll just lie here because I just want to be near him".
Thank you for the videos. They help me calm my mind. I don't keep fish but did in thep past. Ypu and MD, who introduced you to me through his channel are so creative and calm. I can't explain exactly why it helps when I'm overwhelmed but it does.❤
I totally get this 100%!! I almost died from a car crash back in Feb of 23 & not but shortly after I found MD’s channel & then Matt’s which both got me back into keeping fish once I was mobile again. I could & do watch their videos for hours & hours lol. But seems like there’s only two things that can calm me down now, watching/working on my tanks or watching their videos.
I'd really love to see how you tackle a tank with a smaller footprint but more vertical space, I think it could make for an interesting scape and/or species choices.
It's a hard one to do, but I always end up with taller pieces of wood and then plants tied to it. I do have an idea for a canyon tank with rock glued up the walls on both sides but am yet to do it.
THE PINK FLAMINGO RETURNS! I love the whole experience of setting up your tank but I think it's important to show your time at the fish shop and you looking and chatting. I think showing set up to shopping is a great experience. Another great setup really like this one. Your pups are super sweet they just want to be around you :)
Hahahahaha, the CUP! I really really love this tank Matt, it's definitely a different type of build that stands out. Beautiful!!!! Plus, I really like the choice of fish. Time well spent drinking an ice coffee on my porch watching your video!
Great concept! Really like that look. And the croaking gouramis are cool too. Thanks to your channel, I'm getting back into fishkeeping for the first time in several years - next stop Betta rack!
@@FishShopMatt Sending love from New Zealand! It's definitely more challenging here due to limits on plants BUT love finding ways to adapt designs from you
I have a couple of old aquariums that would be perfect for a tank like this. I love croaking gouramis. Kuhlies would be great with them. I've found the black ones aren't quite as shy as the striped ones. Green neons would look really cool swimming in and out of the shady areas. Whatever fish you add next, this is an awesome setup.
I'm mad over corys, but would they do well with all that leaf litter on the bottom? I was under the impression that they liked hoovering up the sand. They would have to go under the leaf litter to get to the sand. Maybe they'd do fine with the leaves. I simply don't know, but would like to. Do you (or anyone else reading here) have experience with them in a tank which has heavy leaf litter?
Super cool man, I’ve got a 75 gallon version of that and I love it. It’s been going for 2 years now! Can’t wait to see yours long term. Love you you brother man. Keep the good content coming. :)
Thanks for yet another awesome video Matt . Very inspiring , although I can't say I have ever seen cork bark or croaking gouramis available in Australia . I'd agree and add some Kuhli loaches . They're colourful and are fun to watch and study , in comparison to a lot of other "bottom dwellers" . Cheers mate , you are one of handful of people I enjoy seeing when I get to put my feet up after work . 👍
Thank you so much! After spending time with Kaity's cichlids I learnt that you guys have some strict rules on importing stuff to Australia. Yeah I can't wait to get the kuhlis not that I'll ever see them! Haha
I really like what you have done with that tank. With all the terrestrial plants and with their leaves hanging just above and over the water the first fish I thought of was Splash/Splashing Tetra Copella arnoldi where, if they start breeding, would be fascinating to watch.
Those gouramis are so fun! I finally heard mine croaking one day, and the next day they were mating. They have spawned a couple of times for me but I’m having a hard time keeping the fry alive. I’ve resorted to moving mom and dad to a different tank while I try and keep some alive.🤞🏼
Hi Matt! It is great to see you branching out into more paludarium-style set-ups 🙌 I have a suggestion to improve the longterm health of the terrestrial plants: Wrape the roots in rehyrated dried sphagnum moss or moisture wicking microfiber cloth and attache a moisture wicking string that reaches to the water. You can fix it all with nylon string. This prevents the roots drying out. If you don't like the look you can fix living moss to the outside with glue or more nylon string. I am looking forward to updates on this one 🙂
@@FishShopMatthonestly possibly my favourite design you’ve ever done! Adore the realistic split with the plants above and the “decay” below. And great choice on fish too. Love it!
Hell Yeah , Pete wasn't playing around with that care package !!! Well deserved too , this got me thinking of how amazing it would be to have both Pete and Dave as channel sponsors ? Best video yet. Kuli loaches are perfect for that setup, with the water level low. My last one just jumped out of my tank. :( Cardinal tetras would love that setup. Curious how the fern was watered at the top of the cork. I thought it was going to be watered with the pump, I guess that will be followed up with final pump setup. Would have been good to see the pump water circulated through the planters. Excellent!
lovely video, wish you painted the back of the tank black or dark brown to give that extra sense of depth and mystery. love all the pants and also agree you didn't need submerged plants. thanks for sharing.
