In honor of Rosh Hashanah 2016 Shira presents this powerful song composed by Yair Rosenblaum. Crafted around the awe-inspiring words of Unesannah Tokef, the most ominous piyut in the machzor, it scales dramatically from the cantorial to the spirited to the uplifting.
Enjoy Levy and Shira's take on what has been adopted in its entirety by a number of famous cantors and singers across traditional and contemporary music genres, including famous vocal virtuoso Avrum Fried. And welcome a new year full of good tidings, good timing, and good music.

A magnificent , uplifting and inspiring version of Yair Rosenblum's composition. There is beautiful irony and hope in the fact that the Charedi community by this rendition show their acceptance and appreciation of the secular musical-composition and its lofty spiritual power. Moreover , it is the secular who are sanctifying the great religious liturgical text of Yum Kippur.. May this herald the beginning of unity among the different Jewish sects.

It happens to be that yair rosenblum the composer of this piece is not a religious jew. My point being look how pure the soul of each and every yid is no matter what you see in on the outside. רחמנא ליבי בעיי.
how do you see from this song how pure his soul is, just because he composed a nice song doesn't mean his soul is pure......
and.. just because the singers are observant it does not necessarily follow that there souls are pure.

הערליך
Yair Rosenblum (1944-1996) composed the Piyut, in 1990… and dedicated it, as a gift, to the members of Kibbutz Beit HaShita (where he lived for 3 years). The Piyut, with its new melody, was first sung by Hanoch Albalack (born in Jerusalem in 1935) during the memorial ceremony for the Kibbutz's 11 members who died during the Yom Kippur war.

In 2015, visited Chief Rabbi Dovid Lau, Kibbutz Beit HaShita… and had the honor to listen to 80 years old Hanoch Albalack, sings it again, by heart. The meeting was recorded:

Shimmy, You're right. I looked him up on Wikipedia, he was an Israeli composer and was musical director of the Israel Defense Forces chorus in the 1960s and 1970s, He directed Israel's annual music festivals.
