Yes. I am proud of you for losing 50 pounds, but I am so much more proud of you for finding new coping mechanisms. You are not only a god damn delight, but a true inspiration 💜
We're warned about the risk of replacing one addiction with another throughout the process. I've been focussing on making sure my new outlets are far more productive and healthy.
I can relate!!!! I’m at 8 weeks now... and the whole “You can’t relate if you haven’t had a food addiction!!” Really enjoy your honesty!!!! Also am at 50lbs lost!

Thank you so so much for sharing all of this - I have the exact same fears as you had and it's so comforting to hear this. You rock! Congratulations on your milestone! That's amazing!!
That's so wonderful hear! I'm now almost 90 pounds down and I'm so happy with how life feels now. I wish you all the best with the surgery and your recovery.
I'm almost 8 weeks out myself - 42 pounds down. Love your videos - rewatching this now (watched originally a few months ago before surgery) and love how much more I'm relating. Thanks again for sharing!
Fantastic job! I have just found you and am thrilled. I am from Ontario and just starting the gastric bypass journey. I am waiting on the paperwork to arrive in the mail, as I was referred a week ago. I am looking forward to following your journey. Thanks for sharing❤️❤️
That's so exciting! It took a month or two (if I recall correctly) before I got my initial paperwork after I was referred. The process is long but worth it.
I am just starting my process too. I’m also in Ontario. So ready to feel better and look better. Not be sad n sore all the time. Ready to get my life back I will def b watching these videos to catch up
I am following you your story is so so much like mine. I had roux en y Dec 1st 2021 and it's now January 6th I have lost 50 pounds and I am biking going to the gym and trying to eat as healthy as I can adding a good amount of protein I feel way better and your channel has reassured me so much that I am on the right track. Thank you for documenting your journey and I am so stoked to continue and see where I can be :)
You’re so beautiful! Watching your videos always puts a huge smile on my face. Thank you for all of your inspiring videos (make up and gastric bypass updates). You are helping more than you know. I did the Atkins diet for a couple of years and let me tell you, I had room clearing gas on the daily. It was rotten egg awfulness. So I can appreciate the feeling that comes along with existing with something like that. But you’re healthy and happy and that’s all that matters. Xoxo -L
This was such a wonderful message to wake up to. Thank you for your sweet words. ❤ I'll take rotten egg toots over severe sleep apnea and prediabetes any day. 😊😊
I used to fly every week for work before COVID and sometimes (depending on the plane) I needed a seatbelt extender. I just got used to asking for them, but it hurt every time. Tomorrow I meet with the nutritionist for the surgery center. I am so glad I've found your videos; they are keeping me calm. I love watching you put makeup on too, even though I never use it. It's very soothing! I'm so happy for your success. Also, thank you for mentioning the terrible gas smell that none of the medical professionals have mentioned. It's important info!
You so inspire me! ..I have not been able to watch a lot. My husband ended up in the hospital via the ER....so ya know..life. When I saw this...I had to stop by end say.."wow"... just "wow"!
It's okay Kara! I can hardly skate either. I'm not Canadian, but I am from Michigan. That's close enough, right? Congrats on your milestone! It makes me so happy to see you so happy.
Omg. Thank u sooo so much. My question finally answered. It feared me so much coz food is always i looking forward in watever emotions im into. Im so scared n half hearted about it. Thnk u so much for ur honesty. 😢
You are beautiful regardless Kara, but you do look amazing, not just from weight lose, but your spirit is so much happier now. My VSG surgery is Monday and right now I’m just nervous about the pain I’ll be in😳 But other than that I’m ready to get on with my life. Thank you for sharing, it truly means a lot.❤️
Thank you Daphne! I know our surgeries are a bit different (and I'm not sure if VSG is done laparoscopically) but I didn't experience much pain with the bypass. I took one Oxycodone a day for three days to help me sleep at night but that was all the pain management I required. I was uncomfortable and moved slowly for the first few days but it was completely tolerable. I hope that you have the same experience. I wish you all the best!!!
Kara C Okay, You’ve put my mind at ease. Thank you💜 Yes the sleeve is also laparoscopic. I’m looking forward to watching your success as I start my own.😊
Congrats!!! So happy for you!!! Is that Manny’s new palette in the background ? Waiting for a review and tutorial !! What are your thoughts on the new Huda Mercury palette? Questions, questions!!! Hahahaha
I've played around with the new Manny palette a couple of times and am very impressed by it. I haven't had time to film much lately but after tomorrow my work schedule will calm down significantly and I'll have more time and energy.
Congratulations! I am in the pre-op period. Getting the Gastric Sleeve done. Just finished my psych eval. Gotta do 2 more nutritionist appts for insurance and then surgery. So end of Dec or early January. Should have a surgery date soon.
That's so exciting!! It seems like such a long process (took just under a year from referral to surgery for me) but that time really does help you prepare. Wishing you all the best with your surgery!! In my opinion, pre-op was way harder than life post-op.
50 pounds total. I lost about 18 pounds during the three-week pre-op liquid diet but I include that in my total loss because, dammit, that was torture. 😊😊
Congratulations! That is amazing! Snowshoeing: if hiking on the snow sounds like fun, then that is the sport for you! (I've done it with my husband who enjoys snow far more than I) I also can't ice skate (and it is huge here in Montana) but my 10 year old (who plays hockey) has been able to out skate me since he was 5. Lol.
I'm amazed and shocked to say that hiking on the snow actually *does* sound like fun. Who am I?! I've never really enjoyed snow (as an adult) but we get so damned much of it that I figure I need to work with it not against it. Learning to skate at almost 40 scares me. I'm aware of my mortality. Lol
@@KaraChapman I understand the snow and not working against it. I just would rather be warm in my house creating something than out in cold. Lol. I can rollerskate (I haven't in years, I too, am aware of my mortality) but ice skating was never my thing. Again, I think it equates to my dislike of being cold. Lol. Why do I live in the Rocky Mountains!?!?! Lol.
I’m I’m 2 weeks post op. Your videos are so helpful. Today I just want one bite of a PB&J and one bite of a Grilled Cheese. My energy is zapped and they were not before so it is hard.
🌖🌓🌔 As a Fellow Canadian who also CANNOT skate to save her life....my father did the exact same thing to me...Drop me off on the ice without teaching me a single thing and he would just race around the rink by him self....Lol. But I did grow up in N-B and did a lot of SnowShoeing & tried cross country skiing once or twice. I personally found the skiing VERY hard. I would have to be in REALLY great shape to do that one again. I would suggest SnowShoeing because it's less hard on the body. It helps if you have someone to do it with you because it's basically the same as walking but your walking over the snow. A partner makes it a lot more fun. I found myself being very much at peace when I did it... I say give it a try.....don't spend TOO Much on the shoes to start in case you don't end up liking it! Probably a sport your DAUGHTER would love. .🌖🌓🌔
High five to a fellow non-skater! I wish I knew how but I'm scared to try, especially on a skating trail instead of a rink. At least with a rink, I can hold onto the sideboards. I'm really looking forward to snowshoeing. I might rent skis one day but I don't want to invest in skis, poles, boots, and a roof rack to carry all that crap. At least I can just throw snowshoes in the back of the car and off I go. Thanks for the suggestion and feedback!
How was your gas pain after surgery? Did you use GasX? I am having gastric bypass surgery on December 19th in Edmonton. Merry Christmas to me, you cannot have Christmas dinner, lol.
I had a lot of gas for the first few days after surgery. Not painful per se, but definitely uncomfortable. Walking is crucial; it really gets things moving. I e had to use Gas Ex a couple of time when I start feeling it in my shoulder; works like a charm. Good luck with your surgery!! 2020 is going to be amazing for you!
That sounds like fun. Their website says you should be able to run for 10 minutes, walk for one, and repeat at the end of the first clinic. Right now I can run for 10 seconds, walk for 10 minutes and then repeat so I've got a long way to go. lol
Each doc is different.... I'm having RNY next week. I believe it will be a year before I able to have pizza and like a half a piece probably or potatoes is like month 10 or when at goal.... From my reading of his huge binder of instructions. Again each doc is different.
Definitely. Someone was telling me her doc said nothing but protein after surgery. Mine said mashed potatoes are fine in the soft food stage shortly after surgery. I've tried potatoes but they feel like rocks in my stomach. Every doc is different and every body is different. Good luck with your surgery and recovery!
@@KaraChapman thank you! Honestly, hearing you are eating things and not dying and doing ok eases my mind ❤ lol. Each surgeon probably has a slightly different technique too ❤ I'm excited!
Kara I love you and I hope you don't take this comment as makeup shaming...but I really felt like your brows are absolutely beautiful and that brow product you used made them look too dark and bold.
