Mid Feb here in Ottawa/Gatineau and have lost three of my four hives. Fairly sure it is the extreme temp fluctuations and rain followed by -20C. Have 4 nucs ordered from Apihex and will be building a bee shed to keep them in year round. Will be adapting the slovenian system to use langstroth. Your success with the bee shed is encouraging. Thx
I AM IN LAVAL AREA NOT FAR FROM YOU. MY OVERWINTER EXPERIENCE IS BAD WITH LANGSTROTH TYPE HIVES ,MORTALITY THIS YEAR FOR EVERYONE IS MORE THAN 50% I HAVE ONLY 1 WARRE HIVE DEAD OUT OF 60 AND 11 LANSTROTH DEAD OUT OF 32 .THE SAME ARA THE SAME FOOD THE SAME TREATHMENTS ONLY HIVE BODY IS DIFFERENT.

If they survive winter next year you will pay off your investment you have good quality Queens you know what you doing
