@GAME WOLF As soon as she caught Ari I was like "yo that damn bird better be the last man standing" and actually cheered when he was. And also the starter living makes sense your starter is usually the first to reach around level 100. But man I was happy that Ari made it.

Gen VIII Spoilers:
I attempted my first Nuzlocke in Sword and Thuram the Cinderace survived until the end. The end being Leon, because Mr. Rime of all things wiped my team. I technically lost the Raid battle against Eternatus, but Zacian was uselessly Howling in that, only for the buffs getting wiped each turn. I did attempt Leon again knowing his team and beat him with just one casualty (I was heal-stalling Outraging Haxorus for hope of a confusion hit, but got critted first). Thuram was the only survivor against Bea.
I guess for the first Nuzlocke, you take extra care of the starter. For me, it was the first time using the Scorbunny line at all, so that played a role as well.

Mawile is dreadful in gen 3. I mean i try not to sacrifice and most times i dont have to because i think things over.
Also she might not evolved Machoke because she might not of been able to trade with anyone
Mawile is so bad in Gen 3, it's actually better when introducing Mega Mawile with Huge power but in Sword and Shield, they completely removed Megas and Z-moves(Z-moves aren't that much of use ever since Dynamax was introduced and is better) and changed it with Dynamax.
I beat the entire emerald game plus the Steven fight with Mawile wasn’t easy, but doable.
I used Mawile as an intimidator in gen 3. Getting one was an eh moment even though I love it to death, but getting that intimidate off on a few key opponents let the rest of my team survive. I then had her be an hm slave, sacrificing her to heal my Swampert so he can survive a +3 aerial ace.
Fun fact that has probably already been mentioned but I'm gonna say it anyways: the team that was shown getting swept by Winona's Altaria was TFS's team that they used in their Emerald Nuzlocke! And they were, in fact, swept by that Altaria in their first attempt at beating Winona!

On my first Ruby Nuzlocke, years ago now, Wattson wiped out my entire team and I was only left with a taillow in my box.
I ended up having to grind it up to like lvl 30 and using a bunch of battle items in order to pull through, which I only really managed because Wattson seemed determined to mainly use sonic boom.
To this day Swellow is still one of my favourite Pokémon.
Ara Era I really like Swellow too, it was my first ever shiny Pokémon in Alpha Sapphire
Same but in a SoulSilver Randomized Nuzlocke a double battle on Route 36 left me with only one Pokemon on my team(excluding the box). Still love that Jolteon.

Personally, I like Mawile; it was the first pure Steel-type, and I have fond memories of my first time encountering it in Sapphire, using a variety of different types of moves on it to figure out what its type was before I caught it. I did the same thing with Sudowoodo in Silver - which, interestingly enough, was the first pure Rock-type.

"Nuzlocke" was originally just another pokemon on the original "nuzlocke" team before the concept even had a name. He was called nuzlocke by the members of the threads because at points in the After Action Report comics on the game in progress, Nuzleaf would be drawn with the face of Locke, a character from the television series LOST, offering some kind of guidance of uplifting message. The entire alternate gameplay ruleset was named after this specific character.

Since you can only do that by trading, yeah, that's what I thought every time he was questionning it.
Well you can allow trading for the purpose of evolution in Nuzlockes if you want. The main core rules don't forbid it. Ruby allows link trading right? (I'm not sure since I don't own the actual game haha) And if you're playing on an emulator you can just use a randomizer program to allow trade evolutions to happen normally.

Well if she was using a emulator she could have used the randomizer to make it where traded Pokemon just evolve at a set level.

That bird can take punishments living thru a super effective move with 1 HP

I believe she was playing on a ds and didn't have the means to evolve Chad. She might only own ruby and a ds and no link cable, two gbas, and another copy of gen 3. Either way, Jaiden did an amazing job in the nuzlocke.

@@notnoobyatgames3285 If I'm understanding you correctly, you mean to say that she could have traded between both? There is an issue with that though. Ruby (Classic not Omega) doesn't work with a 3ds. There's a way to move GBA pokemon to DS games and the Machoke could be traded through that. But there's no way to send it back afterwards. Nor trade them between DS and 3DS. Sadly.

You can trade Pokemon in Gen 3 roms though. Problem was that she was playing on her DS, I think.

In roms you can crossplay on the same device using the same save state. Practically trading with yourself
Ari was my fave, i've had Swellow before and it basically carried my team to the Elite 4 so I have a lot of respect for the Taillow-Swellow family

SHE CAN'T EVOLVE IT! Machoke evolves into Machamp THROUGH TRADING. She would have to give Chad away to someone to evolve her, which is not an option, considering she's playing a GBA game on a DS years after the game came out.

Some people can. As long as they have 2 GBA's and another game pak of the same gen as well as the link cable they can evolve it.

My favorite team member is Chad the female Machoke.

Man this reminds me of my first attempt at a Nuzlocke "lite."
I say "lite" because my three added rules were "no more than 5 Revives at a time" (didn't matter if it was normal revives or max revives; I could only have 5), and "A fainted pokemon is Bleeding Out while the battle is still ongoing, and Dead if still fainted once the battle has ended" (this, of course, meant I had the possibility of reviving 5 times at the cost of my current fighter taking damage.)
My third and final rule was made to help counterbalance the easier time the first two rules created, by limiting the number of times I could visit a particular Pokémon Center to 4 times. What this meant was that I had to carefully weigh the chance to restock revives and regain PP against how much I've accomplished in the surrounding area.
Now, this run was made much easier given that I was playing Moon, because I was able to complete the main story line without losing a single member of my original 6 (which included my first capture, a shiny Charjabug-turned-Vikavolt). And then I blitzed along this one path that was full of tough trainers, struggling to keep my team alive as long as possible between trips back to the Pokémon Center. Finally, I visited the PC for the final time, ran down the path one last time, battled one last pair of trainers, and realized the load zone was right in front of me. As relief flooded me, I ran into the load zone. Without healing. And got stuck fighting either Blue or Red.

So yeah, that's my Nuzlocke story.
Well, you could always just Box your team--that's how I decided to handle the death rule in mine (which, admittedly, I need to get back to since I've only barely begun it). Besides, doesn't the Nuzlocke end once you complete the main story?

Also, my story is a lot less eventful, since I just over leveled to hell and back (grinding to 1 below the level cap, in pokemon X)
Losses go like this:
Death number 1: spoink, it died to a wild hawlucha during grinding
Death number 2: sandile, it died to a _SUPER EFFECTIVE_ double edge (the first hurt, but I wasn't salty, but this one, I WAS *PISSED* wouldn't have died if it was a crit, and I read it carefully)
Death number 3: sneasel, I forget what killed it, but it was before gym number 7
I also need to go back to my nuzlocke, because I haven't finished mine as well.
You don't have to release dead pokemon, you can just permanently box them.
Evolve machoke into machamp? Thats called using a second game. And you cant do that.

To everyone complaining about evolving Machoke:
How awkward would that be to animate? Literally, "Then I traded myself Chad, who miraculously evolved!" Involving anyone else (even yourself with another game) wouldn't have been as pure as this story was. I'm aware of all the cute little cheats people use to evolve Pokemon, but Jaden is telling a story. Her story. This is HER Nuzlocke. And it's a lot better than all these fancy random ones that make no sense.
I'm not sure if Jaiden used an emulator, but i'm pretty sure it's 100% impossible to trade evo on emulators
