    Just wanted to add that when an Artist Edition is signed by the author, I believe that's considered a Classic Edition.

      Yes! I actually mentioned that in the portion of the video where I talk about AEs. I later edited out because it seemed to muddy things up. I think the important thing is the pricing and limitation overview. Thank you for pointing it out and giving people that bit of info. I also updated the description with a note about CEs.

      I love these books. They form the pinnacle of my book collecting. I can't even begin to convey he amount of joy and peace I feel at my Suntup shelves. Right now, on the secondary, Suntup books are surprisingly inexpensive. It's a buyer's market and you can get some of the books I own for less than I paid. In some cases, like Imajica, for about half of what I paid. So I'm happy for those just getting started.

But if you're interested, Collectible Book Vault is doing a series of {written} interviews with various publishers. I don't have the URL in front of me, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it. Great stuff there including an interview with Paul Suntup.

    certainly Suntup & Centipede are the dominant fantasy small presses at this time......
    all the same must admit tho my nostalgic gaze drifts back to the likes of Arkham House, Dark Harvest, Scream Press & Donald Grant as regards top quality productions !

    • @THEJEFFWORD
      @THEJEFFWORD 9 месяцев назад +1

      Donald Grant started the ball rolling for me. I learned about limited editions with art as I hunted the Dark Tower books. If you're fond of the presses of yesteryear, you should know that Phantasia Press has started up again. You might recall they did the very first limited edition of a Stephen King novel with Firestarter. Also they did the first edition of Neuromancer.

      Hahahaha I actually slurred "similarities" inexplicably. And I didn't have one drop of alcohol. This video was a struggle for me for some odd reason. I scripted it and filmed it the first time and it took 51 minutes to film. About two minutes into filming, my mic cut out and I had no idea. So the remainder was completely silent and unusable. I filmed it again--this time with the script and the benefit of a "rehearsal" take and I still struggled to get it all in some order.
      When I heard the slurred "similarities" I thought maybe speeding up the track would fix it. It didn't. But it made me laugh and get over the whole annoyance with filing this video so I left it in.
      And thank you so much for the kind words.

I could do a Folio video, but I don't think I'd give enough of a picture for people new to the press. I've only got 4 titles from them. Though I certainly could make a video describing how I feel about what I have and how they differ from what I normally collect. And I might since a lot of people ask for Folio. • @sdajr76
    @sdajr76 Год назад +1

    Great video, only quibble would be that Suntup is NOT the most limited small press. They have been putting out roughly 750-1000 AE, 250-350 numbered, 26 lettered, and about 8-10 Roman of select titles. Earthling routinely has smaller print runs, as does SST I think. Centipede also hardly ever releases 1000 of any title. Just sayin'

    • @THEJEFFWORD
      @THEJEFFWORD Год назад +1

      Yes, all of that is true. I should have made it clear that I was only thinking of the print runs in terms of single editions and not all editions of the same title. For example, the numbered edition print run is lower than almost all other print runs from other publishers. It's not an absolute, of course. I'm only speaking in generalities. But yes, when we compare title to title there are often more Suntup editions than CP or SST or Earthling.

    I’m definitely gonna be diving into Suntup very soon. When you order one book they clearly take the utmost care with it. Have you ever ordered 2 in one order? Wondering how well they ship multiple books. I ordered a handful from folio society and one came dinged even with all their protection, but coming from the UK is quite a journey so I probably came out lucky with just one ding lol
