    Mantus compared to Manson Supreme and Rocna, we pull anchors with a truck first at 3:1 scope and then at 6:1 scope

    I will remember this the next time I need to anchor a pickup truck with ten feet of chain.

    Why @1:00 min is the manson chain shorter than mantus Its seem like they both did the job just the same once the bar that you had the chains to evened out... and the truck pulled them both down evenly...

    Mantis was being pulled before the others. Really ? you couldnt measure the rodes and make them equal?

    Why do trucks need anchors?

    They both looked good. Of course, if you keep pulling something will give. Manson set quicker.

    These Mantis anchors are actually better than this vid shows. Try pulling one with 7 to 1 road,lol... My only regret is i had gotten the Mantis before buy my 36 Rocna. Both are awesome but mantis holds better and looks sweet hanging on a Bow

    Poor example.. not near enough scope... the truck is pulling upward @ 30 deg UNLIKE a boat with good scope (at least 5 to 1) would... Booo.

    This test is a joke. It’s embarrassing.
    Every mariner puts enough chain out so the direction of tensile force is horizontal.
    These clowns are testing with short chain lengths which have an angle of almost 45 degrees!!!!!!
    How could this be better than SARCA or ROCNA if this is how they test???????

      So you would rather buy an anchor that only works good under perfect conditions??? Remember this video when you're in a tight anchorage where 3 or 4 to 1 is all you can use and you bought one that lost this comparison.

  • @robinbrown7028

    If it's made in China give it a wide birth if you value your boat.

    Bogus.
    Look at and pause at 0:22 - 0:23. The Mantus anchor rhode is shorter than the others. This would normally be a disadvantage, however as soon as it sets, the driver speeds up so the other anchors can't set well.
    I've used several types of "plow" over the years including the Mantus. It's a good anchor, however it's not any better than a Rocna (and it's a knock-off of the Rocna). I have a slight prefereance for the Rocna, because A) They don't post bogus videos and B) They have an attachment point for a secondary anchor

  • @FargoNDRoland

    Okay I have many anchors and now two of mantus. I dont normally write reviews, but I had to this time, they perform above my expectations in every way. They set in about 2-3 feet fully in any ground. Great work mantus and great customer service too.

  • @aslo4812
    @aslo4812 10 лет назад +33

    You should test them with plenty of chain dragging in the sand. Just like it would be in a boating scenario. Not behind a truck with the chain raising up towards the truck.
    This is a poor example if this is coming from the manufacture of Mantus.

      This test is a joke. It’s embarrassing.
      Every mariner puts enough chain out so the direction of tensile force is horizontal.
      These clowns are testing with short chain lengths which have an angle of tensile force almost 45 degrees!!!!!!
      I was all set to research this anchor but won’t spend another minute. How could this be better than SARCA or ROCNA if this is how they test???????

    • @MrAthlon4800
      @MrAthlon4800 5 лет назад +1

      The angle of the chain is so low that it actually does a pretty good job at mimicking real world conditions using long lengths of chain. If the bumper was twenty feet off the ground then yes a long length of chain would be mandatory. There isn’t much wrong with the test in that regard.

    • @MrAthlon4800
      @MrAthlon4800 4 года назад

      It is better to test anchors by pushing them to their limits e.g. using short lengths of chain. Many people use very short scope, 3 to 1 or less, in cramped anchorages, for example.

    • @ymk8355
      @ymk8355 4 года назад +1

      @@MrAthlon4800 well not that short though! it isn’t a realistic scenario. anchors set in much slower than show above and with a different chain angle.

  • @borisau821

    Watch and pause; the line length on the Mantus is slightly shorter, so it sets before the others......

    • @MantusMarine
      @MantusMarine  8 лет назад +3

      a shorter line if true would negatively effect the behavior of an anchor

    Is XYZ been tested

  • @jepriedstra5375
    @jepriedstra5375 2 года назад

    Compared with a normal situation this is not a good test imho. The chain is pulling the shaft up as in normla situations the weight of the chain keeps the shaft on the seabed. Thus helping the anchor to dig in. Now the chain is preventing the anchor to hold.

  • @familyatsea3621

    Def not a scientific test. Would have been better to see how many pounds of force it takes to set each.
