Hi, all: Dan here. With this video we kind of passed a milestone. Two thousand subscribers. Leo really had to talk me into making videos for "his" channel, actually adding my name without my knowledge or consent. On the other hand, he has personally paid for all of the guitars we've reviewed, other than my personal purchases. Just so you know, those guitars don't really get a lot of views. It's the inexpensive guitars that get the most. Our review of the Affinity HSS Strat has over 27k views right now. That's probably more than the total number of people I've played for in a career approaching 60 years. Anyway, congratulations to Leo for being the unmitigated jerk he is for getting me to show up for the hundreds of videos we've done over the past few years. Our thanks to all of you who've subscribed and commented. Thank you all.
I bought one these about 8 months ago. I immediately installed locking tuners, a bone nut and had the frets dressed. Last week I installed a Duesenberg Les Trem. I’m still all in for less than $250! I am thrilled with the git and love playing it. Don’t really need any other guitars but, like all players, one must also own a few Teles, Strats and an ES-335 just to feel ”complete”.😂
Thanks very much for watching and for your very kind comments. We're glad you enjoyed the show, and glad you got a chance to get one of these great guitars 🎸 😎👍!
Thanks very much Russ for watching and for your kind words. We appreciate your time and hope whatever you are experiencing that makes it a "rough patch " works out for the best and is over sooner than later 😉👍!
Yep those are likely the same p90s that's on the te 90 and the iyv400. Sounds great 👍. Dan and I agree that we don't like the Jack coming out the front. The HB 35 has it on the side
Hey again fellas! Nice axe! I love the Minnie Pearl-esque touch when Dan left the price tag hanging from the head!!! Sounds great... I could listen to Dan play all day.
Thanks very much Marky for watching as always and for your kind comments, Dan always does the Minnie Pearl thing with the tags if they have em. You must be over uhem! Uh..30 to remember Minnie Pearl 😉👍!
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind comments. I agree with your assessment. I sold this one to a friend for $100 right after we filmed this review 😉👍!
WOW!!!! Dan, in his usual soft-spoken way, clearly gave this guitar some high praise that he doesn’t often give for these kinds of guitars! The only potential problem with Les Paul-style guitars like this is the weight!
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind words as always, and yes Dan definitely enjoyed playing this $99.00 guitar just as though it were it's $2700.00 Gibson counterpart. The SC-500 was even better 😉👍!
I was put off by the fact that it’s a basswood, not mahogany body but for the price you have convinced me to pull the trigger. Thank you gentlemen! Happy holidays to you both.
Thanks very much FoodFolksandguns for watching and for your kind comments. I assure you that this guitar feels like a Les Paul Gold Top in the hands and at least this one plays like one as well. I hope your new guitar is even better 😉👍!
Yep, love me my bentons, I'm down to one now, my damaged LP. It plays so good I will keep it forever. Awesome review guys. These guitars are something people have a hard time wrapping their head around. Great sounds and looks at a low price. Love it.
Thanks very much for watching as always, and sorry I missed your video about the damaged LP, but I saw the thumbnail and we're reviewing the same one next week. (Actually already have, but scheduled for release next Wednesday. I have been having some health issues and I find the best pain reliever is sleep 😉👍!
I just ordered one, getting it today! Thanks guys I know I’m going to like it. Had considered one for a while but when I seen Dans experience I was sold. Ken
Lovely guitar have a few different hb guitars and am more than glad to gig them yes I have gibsons but why take them to a gig and get it stolen it would break my heart but them harley benton they are great to play live gigs all day long nice playing my friend and video
As a player on a budget I was looking for a guitar just to play at home, (my gigging days are long past) and this is exactly what I went for. Mine was B stock but I have no idea why, there wasn't a mark on it and just like yours it played well right out of the box. Watching your review I know I made the right choice. Loved your playing. Greetings from England.
@@leodanryan966 I forgot to say, I bought the HB Gold Top back in May. I have budget versions of a Strat and a Tele but since getting this one they don't come out of their cases. I think it's time they went to Ebay.
Thanks for listening. I have fun just showing up not knowing what I'm going to play. I really enjoy just picking a track and seeing what happens. Some of the tracks are so good they're just a joy to play to.
I have a b stock version as well. It's an amazing instrument in general and a steal for what they charge for it (imo). Sweet video and very tasty playing!!
Thanks for watching Bobby, we're happy that you are well too, I'll pass your kind comments along to Dan. He's playing a gig tonight so it might be awhile before he sees it 😉👍!
Killer Guitar! Fellas, I am a huge fan of Harley Benton. I think they ship you about as good of a guitar as you can possibly get... for that kind of dough. Dunno - maybe that's just me. But I LOVE what they offer at Thomann. And I love the HB's I've got in my collection. They just seem to be getting better & better, IMO. Anyway - cool vid, Fellas, and rock on! Hope the gang is doing well.
Thanks very much Jimmy for watching and for your kind comments as always. You have several more HB's coming your way (including next week's show!) And IMO the next one is even better than this one and this one is awesome!
Looks like a good buy to get a playable guitar for that price is very cool sounds good thanks for reviewing it. Definitely got me looking at a Harley Benton to try out.
Thanks very much for watching Dartman and for your comments. Thomman always has wonderful prices, but during covid the shipping costs were too high 😉👍!
They say these Harley Bentons are Crap I don't think I think there great guitars but you do have your Gibson Snobs. Great Video man guitar sounds great
Thanks very much for watching, and I have never heard anyone say that. If they really want to spend $6000 for a guitar then more power to them. Most people are unable to afford that 😉👍!
sweet guitar guys! have you guys tried out the epiphone wilshire model with double p90s? its a re issue of the 1959 model... its a lil pricey at 500bux but im sure you can find a great used one in gr8 shape for around 350-400bux...comes in cherry red or black... totally unique guitar and sounds great from the reviews ive seen!
@@leodanryan966 the coronet model is the cheapest with a single p90 on the bridge yet still a verry kool guitar... i was convinced by a guy on you tube that single pup guitars are still very kool and that prevented me from selling my peavey rockmaster...i swapped out the single humbucker for a h/b sized p90...sounds great too!
Another great video and awesome playing! Question, the sound on the demo is fantastic from the fender, is that from a mic in the room or is the backing track and guitar recorded from the outs on the back of the amp?……thanks!
Thanks very much for watching Dave and for your kind question. This is our setup. Guitar is played through the Fender Mustang GT 100w modeling amp. (Not mic'd up) just raw. Dan uses his iPhone hooked up to a Bluetooth speaker called an "Ion Party Boom". If and when we have had a vocalist I use another Bluetooth speaker called a "Befree 900w" with it's own wireless mic. We really don't use pedals or anything like that. We only use two patches on the Fender. Basic Clean for clean tones and Boosted Brit for dirty tones. I record, and edit everything on my Samsung Galaxy S21 256 gig Android phone. Thanks again for asking and I hope this helps you in some way 😉👍!
@@leodanryan966 wow, you get amazing sound recording from that setup! Thanks a ton for sharing all the details and the great videos too. Thanks very much Rod for watching and for your kind question, unfortunately I don't have an answer. I've only seen this one. My friend purchased the Harley Benton SC-400 GT. He said the color was too orange looking. I'm quite satisfied with this guitar in every way 😉👍!

The shipping costs were $66, but since I purchased two guitars it worked out to about $33 each. All together I paid $99 for the gold top, $139 for the SC-500 and after all was said and done it was $305. Mind you, both of these guitars are gigable instruments according to Dan. I hope this helps you Harry 😉👍!
@@leodanryan966 Pretty good overall costs then. Too bad they don’t have a North American warehouse system. That would help their deliveries in the US at least. That said, you still got great deal on some really guitars! Thanks again for the reviews!!
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind question. It weighs as much as any Les Paul. It's as well made as any Les Paul It's better than a Les Paul in one way, the neck isn't easily broken, and it only costs about 1 27th of the price of a Les Paul 😉👍!
The fret ends look like they have no bevel, and uncomfortable, if not sharp. The manufactured fingerboard looks better than most fake rosewood fingerboards. Seems like the action is low and no buzzing, but can't tell. It's too bad they use ceramic pickups. One thing I like about HB is they have some of the most inexpensive guitars with alnico pickups usually.
Thanks for watching, Well pardner for $139 you can't expect a Gibson, but this guitar is absolutely gigable as is. There's nothing wrong with ceramic pickups, there just "vintage " .Thanks again 😉 👍!
