Until then don’t forget “someone bring me a pizza” syd your editing has a real way of capturing your personalities and attitude in away that is really compelling, brilliant work
If you can bridge two ~30s gaps (pit stop/pee break) that easily it is obvious that you are the much stronger rider. So from my POV Macky did the time trial effort just for fun.
So proud of you two! You are both strong, fit, and incredibly skilled. Syd, I’m so encouraged to see how well you’ve recovered from your injury…hard work and determination…what an inspiration!
I really hope you get your 100k subscriber soon! I don't know why it didn't happen years ago! Your quality, storytelling, editing, everything is some of the best.
That's literally right next to Philmont scout ranch! I hiked 70 miles through Philmont in high school and the terrain is amazing! Congratulations to you both!
Love that you guys did a gravel race. I just did Stetina’s Paydirt that same weekend and was going to recommend it to you guys. It’s a timed segment style of race and all the segments are single track, so right up your alley. Consider putting it on your calendar for next year!
I just did my first gravel race too! It was for fun and ti get in shape for the year, but I had a lot of fun. Had a rain change that went from 30 to 45 miles and I had to ride my hardtail with downhill tires haha. Wasn't the fastest but I drank the most beer.
That's really cool that Macky and the other top two worked together for a bit, but it's crazy that just his pull-away sprint was essentially my whole typical workout distance (me going much slower), haha. Congrats to both of you! It's a different type of pain, I bet!
I really love my OpenRun Pro headphones. I barely notice them on my head and the sound quality is amazing. Nice to see your strategies for gravel racing worked out well for you. Hope Syd got her pizza!
Congratulations to both of you on the wins. Man, that's a lot of pedaling!! I'm way too lazy for that. When I crawl to the top of a climb I usually just let gravity pull me to the bottom. Think I'm gonna adapt a reclining seat onto the Kona so I can nap on the way down. 😂 Great job as always you two. Keep rockin it. 👍👊
I’ve got my first gravel race coming up in 2 weeks. Incidentally, it’s a 65 mile, so similar distance. After watching this video, I am looking forward to it even more!
Great video guys, nice to see something a little bit different. Spotted the phantom bottle incident in real time and was wondering what was up?! Great to see even the pros sometimes have a brain-fart moment too! 😂
Love my Open Pro headphones. Not only are they great for riding but, taking calls when multitasking. I'll add that Open pro has the best hassle free warranty. If something goes wrong - I have a new pair in a couple days.
Excellent as always. and *this* has to be you regular Outro (?Outtro) I was foolishly having a sip of a drink then....... who knew that you could expel fluid through both your nose and eyes!! 😂
Macky getting hit with a counter attack as soon as the race started with you mentioning tactics is hilarious. Also Macky getting flicked through by the guy with at least 3 teammates... I'd just ease off and let him pull because I'd assume they'd just keep counter attacking.
It sounds like Grinduro in California or Pennsylvania might be for you. It's technically a gravel race that would be better done on a fast xc setup on a rigid bike.
When will you guys do the ABSA Cape Epic in South Africa? It is one of the toughest stage races. Anyway, great content and congrats on taking the wins 🏆
I put some 50mm tires on my old 10 speed Sir9 and covered the flatbars in bar tape and its been a lot of fun as a city/gravel bike. Have you guys ever tried the Sir9? STEEL IS REAL!
Why not carry a bottle in your jersey pocket? The added benefit is its also more aero than not having a bottle. You can even run an empty bottle in your cages and back pocket and its more aero than no bottles. Also, a pack is more aero as well so unless you hate the feel of a pack, which I get, the aero gains of a pack are documented, especially if you run in front of you (reverse it). That would take care of the need to stop….
We picked up two bottles (or tried to in Macky's case lol) so unless you want to carry two bottles in your pockets the whole race...we wear packs for mountain bike races all the time, but prefer not to if we can avoid it. Especially with the camera mounts they feel pretty restrictive. Honestly neither of us is super concerned about being aero 😂
Great race both! Hopefully will encourage more (and scheduling Leadville? ). Mackey, the roadies will tell you that you don’t HAVE to stop to pee…not that I would advocate that approach…
It does that too, but what I was talking about was the fact that you can just use one shifter to shift all the way through your full range including the front chainrings. So when it's time to shift the front chainring it automatically shifts the rear one at the same time to make the gearing match the next step in your range.
hoping to find some good info here. I'm doing a 100 Mile offroad ride 1st of July I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good over the back water system. Around 2.5l-3l fluid carry with some good space for phone, wallet, tools
@@toolazytoo yup July 1st did it last year ht had to pull out cause my valve went and did have not have spare sadly due to a last min change from tubeless to tubed

Checked the results, and Mackey finished over 8 minutes ahead of second place. Great vid, great effort - congrats to both of you.

You guys really are some of the best story tellers out there. Thanks for taking us along, and congrats on the dubs.
Well said

Brad knew you were going to drop the hammer last lap 😂
The water bottle swap was hilarious. 🤣
Congratulations to both
Gravel riding is too easy for you two!! Great job!
I just did my first gravel race too! It was for fun and ti get in shape for the year, but I had a lot of fun. Had a rain change that went from 30 to 45 miles and I had to ride my hardtail with downhill tires haha. Wasn't the fastest but I drank the most beer.
Well done guys! Looked like a good time as far as gravel races go. Macky was absolutely flyyyyyying at the end there 😯

Drafting for the win! Stay protected and conserve that energy! Congrats to both of you.
Felicitaciones y un gran saludo de Santiago de Chile
Congratulations, you two! Very impressive performances, and a very entertaining race! Things for sharing it with us!

Congrats 🎉 Stunning landscape!!! Really enjoyable video, good edit pace 👍
I love your video's. thank you so much for for making them!
It would be so cool if y'all could make it up to New England for part of the season! We have super chill gravel races and decent mountain biking!!!
Great video, you guy and girl rock!
have you looked into the Oregon triple crown?
Great race! What kind of bar tape is Syd using? It looks much thicker than anything I can find. Love your channel.
Pretty sure it's this one: amzn.to/3N0EeuU

Kansas has a great gravel race you may want to check out.
If you guys ever come back to Tasmania, there’s the Devils Cardigan gravel race in July😉
Wow this looks super coooll!
Congratulations, it looks like your training regime is paying off.
The view looked amazing; I would have loved to be there just for that.
This looked liked a better gravel race than most, no dust
Great job guys
Way to go you too hell yes!!
Congrat you two on podium finishes! Bravo Zulu (Marine/Navy speak for Job well Done!)OORAH
24:03 was this cut intentional? ;)
You should head to Michigan's Upper Peninsula and do the Marji Gesick MTB race this fall.
Well Done !!!
We're not good at gravel racing... both "casually" come in 1st place. Well done. 👍
I loved this episode!
finally a gravel raceee.. awesomee!
You guys need to start smoking to prepare for races like this! 😂😆🤣😂😆🤣😂😆🤣
P.S., don’t forget that one hour warmup! Ima keep harping in that! 😁
Next stop is Unbound Gravel Race?
You are still on the road with the Niner rtl e9 RDO ... are you still satisfied ?
Always watching from the Philippines ❤
Great job!
Congratulations!

Are you guys going to make a video about the Rides and Vibes race you did in Grand Junction?
Yes, coming next week!
Amazing job! Syd, what kind of navy blue pants are you wearing on the podium? I want a pair!
Patagonia happy hike studio pant. Stupid name, great pants 😅 runs kind of big, this is a small and I am usually a medium
Next stop Unbound! 😎

Good gravel and mountain biking in Central PA
Way to go guys!!
Have you two thought about Unbound?
Great race both! Hopefully will encourage more (and scheduling Leadville? ). Mackey, the roadies will tell you that you don’t HAVE to stop to pee…not that I would advocate that approach…
Come do Rule of 3 in Bentonville next year! Tarmac, gravel and Singletrack in one race on one bike. 😂
Sooo awesome video
Shout out to Zig! Top motoman
LOL. I saw the water bottle situation & thought , “did that just happen?”
Well spotted, I didn't notice until I watched the footage 🤣
Gravel is used to find single-track:)
Macky, were you saying that the GRX automatically prevents you from cross chaining? Is that why it does that? 🤔
It does that too, but what I was talking about was the fact that you can just use one shifter to shift all the way through your full range including the front chainrings. We like the USWE Outlander 3 -- 2 liters of water and then a small removable pouch for tools, etc.
@@sydandmacky will check it out thanks guys 😁
Sounds like you're doing South Downs?
@@toolazytoo yup July 1st did it last year ht had to pull out cause my valve went and did have not have spare sadly due to a last min change from tubeless to tubed
Maybe the Rift Gravel Race over in Iceland?
Be more awesome y’all!!!
I thought you guys were trying Trans Madeira this year?
We are! There's a may and a September edition and we're doing the September one
