The diesel bug can drive a person crazy. I have seen where people make a fuel polishing system to clean the diesel. The one removed the dye from the fuel. Great setup.
Super nice setup. The solar powered pump is the icing on the cake! Seems like yesterday it was the wood stand and battery powered pump. Happy for you two!
Nice video! Two things to consider, overtime the weight of the tank will sink in the soil (sand) and the other issue will be corrosion (between the soil and metal. Concrete blocks will work. As a UST compliance guy, kudos on the using biocide. Totally worth it.
Definitely the right decision Andrew, keeping fuel onsite for when you need it can save you money in the long run. Finding someone to loan you the tanks is even better.
When you first started your channel I watched a few videos and didn't really like them but friend I'm here to tell you that I've been watching your channel on a regular basis for about 6 months and I like what your doing awesome job and progress on your property. I hope you and your wife have continued success with your channel.
Good move! Have had them for a few years myself now. I do recommend setting the barrels on railroad ties long term to keep the moisture away from the bottom, they can rust out eventually if placed on the ground directly. Benefit of the ties you decide to move them they can go with the barrel(s)
BioBor is great stuff. I've used it in my boat's diesel tanks for years. Never any algae issue and sometimes my diesel sits dorment for 6 months to a year in the Florida summer heat. Expensive stuff, but good piece of mind.
I make nozzle holders for oddball sites at work. I use 2 inch flat bar bent twice to form to the nozzle. I weld a small piece of 2 inch channel on the bottom (flat side down) for the handle end to rest on, and add either a half link of chain welded on if they want it lockable, or a 1/4 bolt that slips in the same slot on the nozzle handle to keep it from sliding out. For the spout I use a 4 inch long or so piece of 2 inch square tube capped on one end, welded to the flat bar. That keeps junk from getting inside the spout. The flat bar ends up vertical above the channel and is perfect for mounting it to a post or whatever you like. Ours usually end up on a piece of uni-strut with a floor mount. I had a nice jig made up for the bends until someone decided they needed some small pieces and cut it all up. We do installs and spill cleanups at work (well I am the mechanic there but that is what we do) I'd recommend a concrete pad for filling on. (expensive I know) You will end up spilling some, and it is much easier to clean it up off the concrete than the grass. A little doesn't really matter, but if you have a big one, (failed auto shutoff nozzle for example) you don't want that getting into the soil. We only install double wall tanks these days with vacuum monitoring between the inner and outer layer. It is nice peace of mind to be able to look at a gauge and know your tank is in good shape. Just something to keep in mind for the next one if it is in the budget. It's a shame you have that one on-road vehicle or you could buy coloured fuel and save a bit of money.
Since you have a plug on the low end of your tank - it would be very convenient to have a ball valve at that location with a plug in the outlet end of the ball valve to make it easy to bleed off some fuel to make sure you don’t have water in the tank. The biocide is a good choice as well. I have fuel tanks as well - much better than hauling fuel in 5 gallon containers.
I've been using your amazon link consistently. Now it's a habit for me to use the link. Getting ready to move my Dad to a new facility and he needs all kind of things so I'll be ordering a lot in the coming weeks! Thanks for all you do!
That’s a very cool set up. You can generally get a better fuel price when buying in bulk from delivery companies. Definitely would recommend building a cover over it to help prevent rain water infiltration into the tank. Water has a way of getting into tanks with driving rains. As you know, we have been getting some serious rains around here lately.
I would recommend you looking into batteries fires.. You would reconsider placing fuel that close to that shed. My goal is to live the kind of life you do, but I plan on building a basement out of concrete just for the battery and solar, to keep the temperature low, and to avoid the fire danger.. Be safe out there Andrew..
I have looked into it, read a lot of government and FAA studies, plus shared the information on the channel. Lithium iron phosphate batteries are considered very safe, it's the old cobalt and other technologies that had the fire scare years ago.
Nice addition! I’d seriously look into a way of locking it or someone may drop by sometime when you and the wife are gone and “fill er up” with your fuel.
I have no experience with the additive that you used but 1 that I swear by is Diesel Force. I've had issues with diesel powered forklifts and it has fixed many issues. There's a video out there that explains the biology of it. 👍
Ask your distributor if they will allow you to Pre-Buy your propane fuel. My buddy up in MT buys 1000 gallons when prices are at the low end in the off-season and then they deliver as needed. That way in the middle of winter if you run out they just charge a delivery charge and you don't have to pay the high end of the market prices. They store it for you. I wonder if you can do that with the diesel fuel.
I am looking for bulk fuel for my tractor, pickup, and future generator. All I can find who will service me in Sangee fuel in Marianna. 1200 for a 280 gallon tank. I will try J&J and see if they will come this far west(Alford).
But its 20 miles everytime to fill our vehicle. By the way we fill up every 2-4 days now. The convenience and fuel savings of traveling quickly offsets the extra road tax cost for tractors.
It's a small tank, that's the problem. However when spring hits, two tractors are running, a diesel mower and a diesel vehicle..... I'll be happy to have fuel delivered.
i have to laugh a twenty mile round trip -- our nearest is right at 40 miles and a walmart is 50 one way and i know there are lots of people with a lot farther to go too:) all in where you are !! we have a 150 gal tank in an old pu bed trailer to get our diesel (semi retired ) my combine got algae in it once and had a terrible time keeping it clean after, even drained it and left it empty after harvest untill the next year!! we go through about 600 gal of lp a winter and are only up in northern Oklahoma feel sorry for the people in Nebraska and Dakotas and such !!!! have fun and enjoy your nice weather
20 miles is still very inconvenient when you need to get work done and not have breaks in production. 20 miles can often eat up an hour of work time. Add that up over years everytime I need gas or diesel, the convenience is there.
Whats next an actual gas pump, to keep track of how much, with a canopy and a window washing station, lol, on a concrete pad with a KCL convenience store.
got two tanks to help ya'll on the country life. it looks like lot of RUclipsRS are getting out of RUclips. so i do not know what is going on. IRON CRAFT came out with front load auger for tractor. may could look into. ya'll be bless and safe. SAVANNAH TN.
I just noticed you don't have the channels Tab set up in your bio to list your other channels I don't see it on mobile. I realize you have it in the description but there is a separate TAB for it along with videos shorts Community etcetera etcetera
ok when you get the other tank you gotta call it the fuel stop! if you added a cooler in the shack you could add your drinks of choice and it would be your one stop shop!😂😂😂
Correct, but I have a on highway vehicle now and legally have to run on road. I'm paying more for the on road to have a single tank and the convenience.
All is same price as daily at the pump, I get bulk discounts on propane. Last I remember the road tax is around 70 cents per gallon. The non ethanol we plan to get we can deduct the road tax credit at tax time that's built into the fuel. I will ask my CPA if I can do the same for my diesel and keep track of what goes where.
Absolutely loved your house build , watched from start to finish with anticipation waiting from day to day for your uploads, but I’m sorry your trying to hard to be like “out doors with the Morgan’s” now . . Good luck Andrew and Tiff on your future endeavours , I’m out .
So did you mean that you could not technically get Red diesel simply because you now own the on road capable Mahindra? If so why could you have not continued to fill that up from your truck tank which you obviously historically have purchased green fuel from the gas station. Seems like an awful waste when 99% is legitimately off road except for that one vehicle .... I think??? I know it's $1,000 fine if you cheat and get caught but if that is the only one it doesn't make sense to me what am I missing?
Truck stays under barn and rarely leaves, not at all convenient to fill the Mahindra with. Mahindra currently is my most filled machine, so the easy to access tank and fast pump is nice! Plus I need to keep using the big tank to avoid the yearly tank rental fee, I could and will fill the truck tank out of it when needed.
When you build a fuel shed, it's going to have to look like an old filling station, It just has to! "Kelley's Quick Stop"!
Lol does sound sweet!
Know what you mean about appreciating the simple things. A key to happiness.
Yes sir!
Congratulations, Andrew! Hard work and delayed gratification pay off. You are reaping benefits. You and Tiffany deserve the very best.
So very thankful

Interesting, I'll look into it.
Dang that's a awesome deal on your tanks 🤘🏽.... Great idea to prep for the unknown ...

Those tanks are going to make life easy, think I would keep them closer to the tractors under the shelter
Hard for the truck with boom to set them there. Maybe later I can move them if desired.
Check with your state comptroller or whoever does taxes... In Tx you can keep track of ag/off road usage and get reimbursed for the on road tax..
Correct, we can do that for non ethanol. I meet with my cpa next week.

No, just the local stations since prices can vary wildy.

why don't they use fiberglass tanks

Yes, almost 70 cents a gallon cheaper due to no road tax.
