    Kinda neat that Gabe found a mom named Juno. Today is D-Day, and 75 years ago today, Canadian soldiers stormed Juno beach, as part of the Allies invasion to liberate Europe. A good name for a protector.

    Red: "I got this mum. See, I can climb with my yam. Uh oh, did any one see that?" This was good to see that all of the Vervets made it back to a troop. That is thanks to your foundation and to the dedicated staff and volunteers. Thanks Kyle for making this foundation known to the rest of us.

    I love how the mutual love for grass won Gabe over, especially in a troop that gets regular feedings so grass would rarely be a filler unless you just love the taste! Goes to show there is someone for everyone.

    These monkeys are the most lovably of any breed I watch. I love you videos. And what each of you do for them. I am low income, many times have to choose between a bill and food. I watch the adds, most of the time and hit like. I also tell people on other groups about the great way you are with your videos, the work that is done threw your nonprofit group, compared to the video taking people that cause harm to monkeys. Want to thank you sincerely. I am 68, would of love to have known about something like this when I was younger. I would of been there in a heartbeat. 🐒🍀🐵🐒🥰⚘🌷🌾🌹😁

    Awwww, Kyle, you've got me bawlin like a baby and you haven't even finished the intro! Even though I know we'll continue to see you and the vervets, the end of baby season is always a little sad. We also received the news yesterday, that "my" little baby, Heidi, has passed away. She was a tough little thing, that showed strength like no other, but now she's crossed the rainbow bridge to play with Dixie, Polly and all the other babies we have lost! RIP baby girls.♡♡♡♡

    • @nicoleb9352
      @nicoleb9352 5 лет назад +3

      Oh no😭 not Heidi!!! She was so beautiful & a fighter all the way.. I'm so sad to hear this💔.Thank u 4 sharing this, my gosh this is so sad. Do u know how?? my gosh I remember thinking, yay she's saved, she'll be fine now w/WLA.. 🌺Sweet Sweet Heidi🌺..4give me if I'm repeating myself a bit I'm completely shocked& saddened by this 😭😢Rest Peacefully sweet Heidi

      @juliathomas1255 5 лет назад +3

      Aww noooooo .....😭RIP baby Heidi....... such a courageous little fighter .... no more suffering for her now...... 😥😥...how did you find out ?? I’ve been thinking about her since the WLA took her into their care we didn’t get very many updates on her after that ....
      (I wish they would go and intervene and get baby Santa away from those horrible people before she has a complete psychotic meltdown 🙄😥)

    • @quietinspirationcreations3448
      @quietinspirationcreations3448 5 лет назад +1

      @@juliathomas1255
      There is a statement on the WLA's blog on their site, as well as their Facebook page. I'm in no way trying to start rumours, or cause trouble, but in all honesty I'm quite upset about the way they have gone about this.
      This is their statement, in its entirety...
      "With heavy hearts we announce that rescued infant long-tailed macaque, Heidi, passed away a few weeks ago at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center. As many of you know, she was ill when she arrived and was not growing at the appropriate rate for a macaque her age. Despite our vets’ many attempts, she could not overcome her ailments. Her sweet nature will be missed by the entire nursery staff."
      So, first of all, WTF, she passed away a few weeks ago? And you're just getting around to letting the world know, seriously?
      I mean, I understand that they have many animal's in their care, requiring a great deal of work, but I think that statement is absolutely disrespectful, to us as viewers, and to her memory.
      I also understand that she's an animal, but the fact is, the WLA has reaped many benefits from acquiring the RUclips babies. Again, there has been a huge downside for them, but they've gained a huge following and financial support, as a result of baby Heidi (and the other's).
      IMO, the least they could have done is to post a recent picture, with her date of death, and perhaps some insight into her health conditions. I never expected her to live a long life, and believe she received top notch care in their facility, but a respectable send off, would have been nice. I mean, the pics they posted were from the day of her rescue on January 26th, we saw a brief video on February 27th, and nothing else, leaving more questions, than answers, like how long has she really been dead?
      Rest in Peace
      my beautiful baby girl

      Thank you for your kind words, and I, too was shocked, thankfully, my best friend in the whole world alerted me to it, before having to find out on RUclips. I don't stake any claim to her, whatsoever, and yesterday was the first time I actually referred to her, as "mine". I just had such an intense attachment to her from the minute I saw her, back in November, she absolutely stole my heart and soul (and name, well I gave her that). I feel like that baby brought so many strangers together, from all over the world, and opened our eyes to the huge cultural differences there are, with regard to appropriate treatment of animal's. As Lori, impacted so many, and shed light on the darker side of animals being exploited on RUclips, Heidi carried the torch, and blew things wide open, showing how far some people will go, in pursuit of the almighty dollar. We tend to see a lot of hatred in the comments on Cambodian Monkey Channels, but the bottom line is, that we're all here for the same reason, which is a love of monkeys, and that should strengthen the bond, not pin people against each other!
      If you haven't already, please also read my reply to Julia, here, I posted a copy of their statement, and a little more of my own insight on the issue!
      Huggles, and Happy Monkeying!

      Yo Heidi....we lost her??? What happened??? I assumed it was cause she was probably genetically challenged from birth....the mere fact she even survived thru that whole fiasco...at least she was with people whom cared.....at least her brief life was surrounded with love & care at the end....hope u r ok....i know u were really attached to that little nugget....hugs to ya...

    I love rewatching all the these past episodes! I am in complete awe of everything you guys do for these precious animals and defenseless babies, who without all of
    Your hard work , tlc, dedication, knowledge, love and time most certainly would not have had a chance at living a life and now they are loving life with their new family and thriving!! I’m sad that Kyle is leaving and for selfish reasons wish he could stay forever but that’s not life and I wish him well and look forward to hopefully seeing
    More of him and future projects online. Kyle if
    You read this i want you to know and I’m certainty not alone In thinking this, you have true talent and a wonderful way of telling a story and captivating the audience. Especially in this day and age your raw true talent absolutely stands out. No doubt you will
    Go far in life!! Thank you 🙏 again for all you have done and the countless hours of entertainment you provided us as well as knowledge all while making it fun to learn about these lil guys world! I wish all at VMF well and all I said above goes to each and every one of you as well, you all saved the lives of so many babies and who knows how many more out there are saved due to the knowledge others have learned and hopefully start to see them as living beings who are intelligent, feel pain, loss and love and are not vermin to get rid of so callously. 🙏
    I do want to say I loved the ending bit of Red working so hard to get that sweet potato 🍠 up that tree...he finally makes it and goes in for a bite only to drop it!! 🤣 I was cracking up after he looked at his hands like seriously guys you had 1 job ...1!!! 🤣 Poor Little guy looked heartbroken.

    Either way he’s still adorable!!
    Also it seems like we don’t see the Bandits hanging around hardly at all especially compared to last season. Is it just that they where mostly elsewhere during taping or are hanging out somewhere else for the time being....or did you guys tighten security with them coming around so freely because of some of the injuries from them grabbing tails and limbs through the fence and causing problems!?! Maybe you already went over this in another video and I missed it. Thanks

    How long do Vervet Monkeys 🐒 usually live? Have TVF organisation noticed any difference in longevity in the outdoor enclosure areas? I was just wondering about population expansion dynamics: have the populations generally levelled out each year with older monkeys passing on naturally as new babies arrive?

    Out of curiosity, can any of the foster moms breastfeed? Have the females been sterilized? I know the end result is attempting to rehome these vervets into their own sanctuary when the troops become established, but if there's already breeding going on there (if it is), there will be a good number to rehome somewhere. I did check the website, but a lot of things aren't clear on it.

    Hi Kyle! Just curious, if all the troupe males are spayed at 2.5 years of age, how does the Foundation get the live births we have seen occur each year? And approx. how many females do manage to get pregnant each season? Finally, do you manually transfer the 5+ years old males from enclosure to enclosure, to deal with the instinct to move around, thus avoiding inbreeding? Thanks!

      I think I’ve watched every video now and can answer some. The babies come in as rescues from the surrounding local areas. Unfortunately the monkeys are considered vermin in Africa and are used for target practice or just killed, run over, etc. They tend to destroy crops and there has been a drought in some areas. Dead moms leave behind orphans. Vervets breed at specific times of the year..hence the “baby season” when people call them after finding an orphaned or injured or even a rejected baby. Some are turned over after being held as pets (often in very poor circumstances) once the family tires of them or decides a wild animal won’t stay docile. They treat them, reacclimatize them and find moms from within their former released rescue troops and send them back into the Wild once a mom adopts and bonds to them. They still feed the adults as well and keep milk bottles in cages for infants still needing some milk. The foundation has limited land and are limited on how many they can take in so they spay the males and it’s rare for the troops to have a birth unless they meet up with an outside monkey (see videos on the “bandits”) or one of the babies grows into a precocious male before spaying. Most adoptive moms learn how to parent from the troop, not from giving birth. They are not genetic parents so no inbreeding occurs.

      From what I have seen from the videos, there are other vervets on location that are not part of the rescue, though they do get fed. Those vervets, called "bandits", are the ones producing offspring. All of the male vervets that come in as rescues to the facility are given vasectomies at 2.5 years of age. So from what I've seen, any of the current troops inside of the location aren't reproducing.

      Hi Alex, I'm not sure which "on site births" you are referring to, but usually its a matter of a roaming male Vervet who wanders onto the property from off site during baby season and impregnates some females. But yes we try to catch and vasectomize all the males at 2.5 years of age. Also sometimes although very rarely a Vasectomy can fail. At this point the males do not transfer troops, it would be an enormous undertaking and it's not as simple as just transferring a monkey to a troop, integration of a monkey into a troop is a very long process and simply placing a new male in an established troop enclosure could quickly lead to disaster and extreme injuries and especially danger for the younger monkeys. There is no chance for inbreeding since the males are vasectomized.

      @@VervetMonkey thank you! That makes perfect sense. On site = the troupes contained in the big pens, like Scrow , etc...So basically the natural births that you mentioned were from interlopers, sneaking in, LOL. Thanks for the explanation 😊

      P.S. sounds like one failed vasectomy could populate the whole tribe if conditions were right. Scary thought!😮
