  • 🌱 Transforming Sod into Pasture: Restoring Life to the Soil 🌱
I’m excited to share our latest steps in converting sod fields into thriving pastures-marking the return of livestock to our farm for the first time in over 40 years. This project is more than a simple conversion; it’s about breathing new life into the soil and creating a resilient ecosystem that sustains itself.
In the video, I walk through different approaches to seeding, from bare soil to unharvested sod, even experimenting with areas treated with Roundup. By using a no-till drill, we’ve kept soil disturbance minimal, respecting the soil’s structure and the microbes that work beneath the surface.

The benefits we’re aiming for align closely with Gabe Brown’s insights in Dirt to Soil, which dives deep into the power of regenerative practices to revitalize degraded soil. Bringing livestock back onto the land isn’t just a return to tradition-it’s an opportunity to enrich our soil, foster biodiversity, and deepen our understanding of sustainable farming.
If you’re passionate about soil health, sustainable agriculture, or simply curious about how pasture transformation works, this journey could inspire new ideas. Here’s to reconnecting with the land and learning alongside nature.
Watch the video and join the conversation about regenerating our fields, one field at a time!
