Wow! I can't believe that it has done such low kilometres since you bought it new! The value on these GC8 cars over the last 5 years have been increasing! Especially if it's done low kilometres and in good original stock condition.
I bought one of these cars over 20 years ago, and I still have it. It has been the most enjoyable car I've owned! The value on these GC8 cars in the last 5 years have only been going in one direction, and that's up!
my dad had one of these back in the day and i absolutely loved it. now in my 30's im looking to buy one myself to bring back the memories of my dad driving it around
Another long term owner here. Have had mine for 20 years. Amazing car and still brings a smile to he face every time I drive it. Loved the review and yeap watching Colin McRae in a 22B GC8 in 555 blue I was sold!
I remember when I first saw one it was before I reached my teens I think. I didn't know anything about cars but there was a yellow estate local to me I fell in love with the rumble at idle. Been a big fan ever since
I had this car from new for 4 years. Paid 12k as I bought it in Holland and imported it back over to the UK just as the Euro was struggling. I loved it, but it was damned expensive to insure and maintain. Still regret selling it a bit.
The best Subaru Impreza in the world. Much better than the bugeye, hawkeye. Thankfully you can still buy these in Türkiye, I am going to buy a very similar (exactly same) one.
I brought one of these in 2000, same color, different wheels. All I did was fit a full mongoose exhaust without the cat. I took it to power engineering and it produced 267hp! Went really well!
Iv owned this car now for a while and it’s every bit as good as it is on this review however it looks much much cleaner now and added some really nice alloys to it aswell 👍
That was one of the Best gifts in the world, Really, How and Why. I love that car and That Colour ! But I don`t need one more, so another entusiast should take that Best and most beautiful masterpice from Subaru and bring it Further with heart and Soul. Thank you for this good reported film !!!!
So I’ve just bought one of these which needs extensive work for £500, gearbox already been sent off then the engine will be next. Only one person locally that touches these engines believe it or not. Hopefully in 18month mine will look a little like this one.
I’m sorry but I’m pretty sure that the strongest version of the first body style was the Japanese version of the WRX, without considering the STI of course. But yes first was Japan, then UK, followed by the ausi and euro versions
Never touch a JDM WRX if you want a flexible UK road car. The gearing on the WRX is so frustrating it's horrible. Way too short geared for our roads. What you need is a mildly mapped UK spec Turbo 2000.
It’s 2021 and currently looking to get the 2000 turbo gf8 wagon model.. scared though because of fuel prices and mpg, anyone want to make me feel better about my choice??
The wrx is tuned for more power, small differences in interior, uk models have adjustable headlights etc, and taller gearing which is better for motorways but makes it slower etc
I wonder what's the difference between the WRX and the Turbo 2000. I can make out 1 difference and that is that the WRX has the rally style stickers on it while the Turbo 2000 does not have that. I also have noticed that they both have different alloys
WRX has rear windscreen wiper. Engine has a bigger turbo,Tdo5 rather than a Tdo4 for UK model. Late UK (Turbo 2000) Impreza 218 bhp Vs 280 for import (WRX) .
The JDM WRX also has shorter gearing as standard. They are not as satisfying to drive on UK roads as the UK spec car in my opinion. A moderately mapped UK model is the the best of both worlds, good long gearing and great acceleration and torque.
THESE cars are those last Of CARS. When we came to the 2000 and later, it´s getting tooooo much electronic shitt, and cars are getting TOOOOO heavy. Also cars are looking like a Jewelery for "little girl", almost ALL cars looking like "MASERATI´s", come one GUY´s leave that shitt 🤣 Buy an old car, or nowadays...... an ALFA ROMEO. 🌟🇮🇹🥇 TK🇳🇴
Depends on condition, you can pick up a bad one dirt cheap but good ones seem to be holding at around £3-4k here in UK & then there's the people who think its a stock market & are trying to get around the £10k mark 🤣
@@kagura631 yeah, there are a lot of people trying that nowadays. The problem is that it only takes 1 idiot to pay over the odds for a car & then everybody tries to then make out that that's the going rate. I'd say it's laughable but nothing is really funny about 'drivers cars' sat collecting dust while some greedy pig tries to treat it like a stock market. When I bought my 98 impreza I paid 3k & it was clean & with 75,000 miles on the clock, I looked yesterday & people are now trying to sell them for £7-11,000 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@leejohnson3742 7-11k ones are usualy JDM import STI which run on higher octane than UK ones and also come up at 300bhp from factory compared to the 217bhp from the UK2000 so yes selling an UK2000 for 7-11k is most likely overpriced
Bought one brand new in 99 just before my son was born, still got it only done 37k and now my son is driving a megane rs!

Best car I ever owned... Still miss it!
Me too!
I've just spent thousands restoring my 2000 UK turbo.
Hopefully I have it back for a quick drive before the bad weather starts..😬
Fantastic! The Impreza is a classic well worth restoring, enjoy it!

Had one, loved it but I'd ever seen rust like it, gently stuck my hand straight through what was once the inner rear arch
Iv owned a couple. Love the earlier version ones best . These More raw power they get a little softer newer u get.
love mine just needs another gear as it chews through fifth and has me reaching for something thats not there

This car is familiar. Isn't this the one that HubNut owned. I can tell by the reg number and the Retro Japanese sticker.

Fuel consumption isn’t a problem at all! Make sure chassis isn’t rusty as hell before making a deal.
If mpg is an issue a impreza isn't the car for you!!!! Did you buy 1 though as your comment is 8 months old lol
I wonder who won It?
Also got one myself for 1400
I own a 98 uk 2000 i bloody love it
