Sweets are a down fall for me. Especially Chocolate. They told me, you don't have to cut it out completely. Just don't eat the whole pan at one time. So food for thought. Lol. Thank you for sharing. I’ve made this cake for years. When my brother in law was fighting cancer, I made him one of these cakes and he said that was something that tasted good to him. My recipe says to put half of the batter in then most of the brown sugar mixture next and then the other half of the batter. Put the rest of the brown sugar mixture on top and then take a knife and swirl it through before baking. There is also a chocolate honey bun cake. This is so good for breakfast with a cup of coffee.
Saw Caroline's video last evening and she did a great job. I remembered to compliment her on her weight loss which, by the way, is making her look younger
It was very noticeable! Im excited to see her video about her journey… I think she mentioned at the end she might make one. She looks great! The hardest part is the beginning… getting jump started.
Leslie, I make this cake also. I use box of yellow butter cake mix with a stick of softened butter, 4 eggs and one box of vanilla instant pudding mix and 1-1/4 cup water doing the other steps for the cake.
We are members of an electric co-op too. They also send out a monthly magazine and it has 2-3 recipes in each issue. It used to have the best down-home recipes that I always looked forward too. Unfortunately, after about 20 Years, the lady that always supplied the recipes, retired😢 Now, they still have recipes, but it’s easy to tell they are no longer from a “country cook”! I sure miss the “good ‘ole days”’ lol!😢 We love honey bun cake, by the way!😋

Oh wow, this is the same recipe that I've been using for over 15 yrs now, I make it in a bundt pan. I layer in thirds and sometimes add walnuts or pecans. Can't remember the name but I know it wasn't a honey bun cake. I believe I got it from either woman's world magazine or home made easy. Its a Christmas favorite for us. Soooo good.

Well I’ve not wanted a honey bun in a long time. lol this has done me in lol We have talked about the honey buns we use to get back in the “70” telling my age lol that had the sugary glaze on them and also the longhorn with the lemon filling and same glaze but can’t remember the brand. Can’t find them anymore. I have a lemon chiffon cake recipe from a sweet lady I had known since I was 5. She passed several years ago but I have the recipe in her hand writing and thinking of adding it to my thanksgiving menu. That’ll give me a break to recoop from September vacation food splurge lol We have been having a slice of Angel food cake with fresh strawberries in the sugar free glaze and light cool whip (what I had) and it’s so good and doesn’t bother our blood sugar!! The recipe I use for the Honeybun Cake is almost identical but with a little larger portions. It makes a 9x13. But, otherwise it is the same. I’ve made it so many times and most of the time, take it for a church meal. They are delicious. I just looked at my recipe. It is called Cinnamon Roll Cake. Everything is doubled and in the filling, it calls for 1 1/2 sticks (3/4) cups butter plus 2 Tblsp flour with the br sugar and cinnamon. Yes. This is a winner. Hope everyone gets better and you do not have storm damage.
There is a recipe very similar to this in the Encyclopedia of American Cooking cook book. The only difference is, yogurt instead of sour cream, and only 1c sugar 1/2c. raw honey. Same filling, but baked off in a bundt or flute pan. I made it for a Christmas party at work, my supervisor celebrated Hanukkah, and honey cake is a traditional fair. I sent it home with her and she served it to her husband. He said it tasted just like his grandmother made. Score!
